Winter rolling

Hi ED, I'm a long-time listener but first-time caller.

This weekend I plan to take MDMA at an outdoor techno festival in Montreal. The forecast shows a daytime high of -16°C (about 0°F), so at night it will be, long story short, COLD.

Since MDMA can lead to overheating (right?), should I adjust my snowsuit accordingly? The obvious answer is to dress in layers so that I can shed some if I get too hot, but would it make sense to slightly underdress to compensate in advance for any overheating?

Also, general cold-weather rolling tips would be welcome.

hehe I'll be there too x), I think you should at least have your car near, if you are overheating you ll be able to adjust then.^^
 
If your dressing in layers and have your car where you can change to suit your mood then Im sure you will be fine :).

Ill not bore you with the dangers of sweating and minus temperatures but just be careful.
 
Having done a bit more googling, it seems that (anecdotally) cold temperatures kill rolls because one focuses on the discomfort of freezing rather than just enjoying oneself.

I think what I'll do is come prepared (adjustable layers, and a car for stashing gear/AC in case I get into a rut) but I'll get into a comfort zone prior to dropping, so that I won't have to worry about that while rolling. It's completely possible to be comfortable at -20°C as long as you have adequate gear and activity, and it would probably be easier and safer to find a comfort zone sober.

@rolling_anon, I just found your thread on the same subject (maybe this can be merged there); were you dressed warm enough that you'd have been comfortable if sober? (For the record, I shouldn't have to worry about tolerance/quality/etc.)

@cthulstep, have you been before? Does it seem like a good rolling atmosphere overall?

Rolling in the cold SUUUCCKKKSS! dress as warm as possible or all you will be able to think about is how cold it is! When the Electric Daisy Carnival came to Denver last year It was almost all outdoor in sleeting 30 degree (Farenheit) weather. Needless to say i had a pretty shitty time being completly underdressed thinking the roll would keep me warm :/
 
Don't underdress - you'll get hypothermia, just drinking enough water but not too much.

Don't wear a hat ;) hehe

Have fun!! Sounds great rolling in the snow - I did this once, the cold felt awesome for a coupla minutes.

Maybe have like 5 minute bursts of dancing in a tshirt - that's also good for your circulation (so's dancing anyways, but shhh...) - if you're REALLY worried about overheating, but not advisable for long periods of time.
 
Yup dont underdress- if anything you can shed layers if you get hot then put em back on when needed. I find adding a hallucinogen into the mix helps retain the roll in the cold, just a small amount if anything. So not to trip but to get the high from it. My two cents..
 
Ah man I was thinking of checking it out, not sure if I can handle the cold though!
 
Hi all, disclaimer: I'm rolling right now

However, I wasn't rolling when I was at the outdoor festival!

I wasn't preoccupied with the uncomfortableness of cold or anything, and I was well suited up, but for some reason I didn't feel my roll until hours later when I got back home into a warm environment.

In the future, even if I think I can handle it (by dressing up etc), I'm going to make a rule of not rolling in cold altogether. Maybe there's some mysterious product of cold or something, but whatever, it doesn't work.

haha, it was freezing balls that night. Luckily, ATB's performance, was the most epic thing i've seen in my life, I have never peaked so hard before<3
