ATHENS, Ga. -- A robbery suspect was found dead in a hotel room hot tub, Athens-Clarke County police said.
An Athens Walgreens Store on Hawthorne Avenue was robbed at 4:37 p.m. Monday, police said. They said the robber stole oxycodone from the store’s pharmacy. Officers reviewed surveillance of the robbery and identified the suspect as 41-year-old Doyle Thomas Brittain, of Athens.
Two hours later, the police department was alerted of an unresponsive man at a Comfort Inn and Suites on Old Epps Road. When officers arrived, Brittain was lying face-down in a hot tub, police said. They said crews tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at Athens Regional Medical Center shortly after.
Police said there is no evidence of foul play, but an upcoming autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
The stolen medication was recovered at the scene, police said.

I thought the same thing. He wanted die peacefully, so he stole the Oxy's, went to a nice hotel room, filled up the tub, and slowly, comfortably passed away. One thing though, the article said that the stolen oxys were recovered at the scene, though I don't know how many were left. He probably took some but not all of them. Most likely he had quite a few other drugs in his system and was probably saving a few oxys in case whatever he already took didn't do the job.

A more recent story about this said that he had taken 4 bottles of oxycontin from the pharmacy, but one bottle was completely empty when he was found. Looks like a suicide to me, not an accident.

Sounds like the best way to kill yourself if that was his intent. There are certainly thousands of worse ways to die than high as fuck on oxycodone in a hot tub!!
