Benzos (temaz + loraz) don't work?

I got prescribed temazepam 10mg pills to help me sleep (I wanted them for anti-anxiety purposes) and they didn't do much. I ended up dosing 50mg over a few hours to try to get my anxiety to decrease but it barely worked. There were more motor effects/memory loss vs anxiolytic effects. I got really tired, slept for one hour and got up. When I got up I felt very depressed. It felt like a chemical dysphoria, I wasn't thinking overly negative thoughts I just felt really down :S

So I went back to my doctor and got 15x1mg lorazepam. I took two and felt good for a little while as it started to taper of I dosed one more. Now I'm starting to feel anxious again despite the 10hour half-life. My vision and movement is still altered but mentally not so much.

Am I missing something?

Give it a few days at the prescribed dose. Don't be too fast to say that something doesn't work at all.

Why did you take Temazepam for anxiolytic reasons? Temazepam is a hypnotic meant for sleep and generally a recreational dose is 60-90mg. In America Temazepam (Restirol) comes in 30mg capsules which is the common prescribed dose. Some people are prescribed up to 60mg. I generally take 120mg with some clonazepam but I've got a tolerance. Depression is a residual side effect.

You may be expecting too much out of benzodiazepines. Don't expect to get high from them. They are purely good for anxiety, insomnia & muscle relaxation. They are good in combination with other downers and for stimulant comedowns.

Lorazepam doesn't last 10 hours, generally 6-8 hours. A good dose for anxiety would be 3mg.

Maybe you are more susceptible to the side effects of benzodiazepines therefor they aren't effective for their purposes.

^Yeah, I never found temazepam to be euphoric at all or especially effective for anxiety, but when i used to get it I found lots of threads and other stuff on the web about how in some European countries IV temaze is a frequent cause of abcesses and it's considered the most euphoric benzo by many users. (Taking the dose spread out over time would make it less noticeable, too, I would think.)

Lorazepam is definitely the one I would "feel" more.

Also, duration of action is different from half-life. I'm not sure what the correspondence is, but I've noticed on benzo and z-drug charts, surprisingly, that the z-drugs have ultra-SHORT half-lives. Zolpidem = 2 hours, but duration of action is much longer like 3-6 hours (not sure how much that depends on controlled release formulation).

Temaze and loraze have similar half-lives. Duration of action may differ.

I think its a great benzo but the dosage is way higher in comparison to others
60-120 mg Temazepam vs 2-5 mg colnazepam (personally)

60-120mg Temazepam = 1.5-3mg Clonazepam
