i have been a heavy smoker for 35 years. i am usualy medicated morning noon and night. i cant afford it these days and i find myself realy really anxious and depressed:( i have no intrest in anything i try to do for enjoyment.

what can an old pot head do to feel normal without weed?

dude, im right there with you. after getting clean off opiates nothing would relieve anxiety like a joint. I have decided to turn to a life of crime, for others this is a moral impasse.

I've tried replacing it with alcohol or other drugs. Nothing compares. The only advice I have is to grow your own. Break a law, whatever... In the end you're only affecting yourself.

Try exercising and going out and doing what most people do to have fun. Go hiking, go to the cinema etc. It'll take your mind off things.

i do go to the gym alot every day an do cardio and lift alot of weights.

so dont go telling me to get out and get exersise because thats all i do . i go to work i get stoned and i work out at the gym 6 days a week and twice a day on some days.

i just got medicated so i wanted to clairify. without the medication life seems too intense and too hard to face i get virtualy no enjoyment out of anything, even the gym that i love so much. working out at the gym brought this 49 year old pot head health and alot of muscle.

i just wish i could train my brain to be content without thc. but i dont think after 35 years of being heavily medicated i know how to feel normal without it. seeeee what i mean?=D

way to make money

Look into selling blood plasma 40-60 a pop 2x a week
thats a part time job 2 hours 2x a week.

goes to a good cause most importantly. but they pay you too.

look around online for reviews about locations near you. some are in the hood and shady people hang out there.

you really couldnt just try to cut down quite a bit? say like get $20 of regs and smoke one hits when u feel like you really want/need to?
otherwise,a friend with weed is a friend indeed ;)
maybe you have a friend that would come smoke you out and talk when you're feeling bad?

Exercise, exercise, exercise.

When i take breaks both willingly and forcefully (for work), i exercise in place of smoking.

Youll be amazed at how good you feel.

maybe its time you learn how to live without being drugged up 24/7. I know a lot of people get retardedly defensive about weed, but its seriously not the greatest thing in the world. If life is too hard to handle you should get a therapist.

That is a pretty normal symptom of quitting weed.

Give it a while and things will return to normal.

I had the same thing when I detoxed after being a heavy smoker.

You could start growing your own so you never run out. That way you'll know you're not smoking fucking pesticides or god knows what else. However, I'm probably a bit biased since I love growing so damn much.

35 years is a long time.

Quitting outright would be pretty rough, but if you could stagger it by getting involved with other people and groups and also cultivating individual hobbies then cutting down wouldn't be so bad.

Do something that you normally wouldn't do stoned. When I quit it sucked at first, but I quickly came to realize that intellectual activities were so much more engrossing and that I could get involved in a more comprehensive and lead a more interactive life than ever when I was a pot head...even when smoking the most sativa-crackhead weed in existence...

Here's my suggestion:

Several studies have demonstrated that taking fish oil supplements can result in noticeable differences in mood. Omega-3 fatty acids help cell membranes transfer seratonin, an important neurotransmitter in regulating mood. You can probably find 300 softgels for under $15 at Walmart. Start by taking 6-10 per day, and gradually taper off to 3 per day. I took seven yesterday, and several hours later I noticed I was smiling and feeling just... good. And I was sitting alone doing practically nothing.

It works for me. Maybe it can work for you. Not to mention the AMPLE benefits for just about everything else in your body.

You might also try sleeping better. I take a sleep aid supplement that contains natural plant extracts. I have deep REM sleep every time, and I can wake up after 6-8 hours feeling great.

I've been considering this myself. Maybe just 3-4 plants for personal use

I love my medical, but it gets ridiculous spending $40-$80 for ⅛ oz + all that money in gas commuting

In that case I would recommend buying a second hand wardrobe a 250W light and a few other bits and bobs and grow your own, for the sake of your finances and your health. Why fund your pot dealer's lifestyle when you can grow your own medicine safely and cheaply? You know it's madness paying silly money for something that you depend on. Come to your senses and go for it, I say.

Just remember the first rule of growing - tell no one! Not even your own mother. Tell one person and you've effectly told ten.

You don't even have to grow 3-4. I personally am growing 3 but it's filled up a 16 square foot area with dense foliage already. I know someone that only grows one plant at a time with a high wattage light and after each 3 month grow it supplies enough weed for the average person to consume in a whole year.
