Is it possible to have lingering after effects from LSD?

Three weeks ago, I tried LSD for the first time. Since then, I've taken LSD once a week. For each of my three trips I only took one LSD blotter (which isn't a lot by my friends standards, who usually take two). With these trips, I have discovered new things about myself, and new feelings about the universe in general. With each experience, I noticed after-effects. It's hard to explain, but I feel slightly different. When I smoke Cannabis now, I notice it has a very trippy feel to it.

My experience with hallucinogenics includes three magic mushroom trips, about 15-20 DMT trips and one PCP trip. With all these experiences I have never noticed any after effects.

So is it possible for me to be feeling different from the LSD, or is it just my mind playing tricks on me?

And how long should one wait between trips at doses of one tab?

Thank you very much. :)

Tripping once a week, i'd expect you to have some mild lingering effects... certainly, if I trip every week for a few weeks (regardless of what i take) i get some lingering aftereffects. LSD and 2C's seem to be worse than tryptamines (incl shrooms).

Hence, i'd council against tripping every weekend. Sure, you can trip a couple weekends in a row, but an average of once every 2 weeks or less long term would probably be more rewarding.

As for weed, it is almost universally reported that weed feels trippier after having taken LSD or other psychedelics (particularly LSD). This seems to become less noticable over time (it has for me at least), but i dont know if that's a real effect, or whether i've just forgotten what pre-lsd weed felt like.

Yes I have experienced a noticeable afterglow lasting a couple of days after. This is a great time to remove as many distractions as possible and let yourself integrate the experience as much as possible.

My experience of most other drugs was changed when I started to use LSD more than once a month or so... it's hard to explain, yes weed feels more like the hallucinogen that it is, but more over one's patterns of thinking change in drastic ways that smooth out over time, IME.

I would also advise as some other posters have that you should slow down on the intake. You don't want to develop HPPD effects from heavy usage; I haven't tripped since 2006 and still have trails/static/heavy afterimages etc, I got diagnosed with HPPD last year... some people enjoy these effects but I'm over it personally. Plus your trips will probably be better :D

You only get one brain, shape it as you wish but be cautious. I have to say I don't regret psychedelic use even though it has brought me some problems.

such as?
just curious as there was a point several months ago during which I tripped 7 times in a 3 month period so I wondered if we could relate. I just felt odd and awkward for about 2, maybe 3 months after the last trip but this was probably agitated by my then daily legal smoking blend consumption and then later every day weed consumption. I still smoke everyday, just less, and abstain from most other drug use; at least more so than before.

Smoking pot is definitely more "trippy" after having somewhat recently taken psychedelics, especially if fairly regularly. Your brain becomes more accustomed to the effects and has an easier time recalling what you went through well tripping. of course you wont ever be able to get to that same state of mind, smoking pot helps you remember it quite well.

It's nothing to do with the LSD, that's entirely eliminated from the body within a few hours.

Obviously placebomine can have an enormous effect - if you believe the LSD is still affecting you then it probably will.

Perhaps everything we experience is somewhat of a placebo, including the trip itself? :)

I don't think there's LSD in my body currently. Obviously it is gone.

Call it what you will, HPPD or just a plain old perceptual problem, I do indeed get visuals somewhat constantly that are reminiscent of being on LSD and also the one time I smoked a salvia extract. They are not nearly as strong as an actual trip and I don't think I'm tripping. It has become less unsettling over time but I think I just pay less attention to it and am close to used to it. I haven't tripped in almost 6 years and it doesn't seem as bad as it used to be.

LSD is a powerful drug and even a single dose can casue long lasting (transcription level) changes in the distribution of 5HT receptors. As others have said tripping once a week will definitely cause you to feel off for a while and maybe even lead to HPPD. I would recommend using psychedelics (at any dose) no more than once a month. You will probably get tired of the drugged up state if you visit it frequently anyway.

LSD causes profound psychological effects and it is not strange at all that some stick around for quite a while after it's gone from your body (which is pretty fast, although not superfast in a few hours like they thought for a whie). It can change your life, it can cause HPPD, but I would be strong pressed to say that too soon, many lingering after effects are normal.

My opinion is that when you have not had that much experience with such a powerful compound you should allow more time in between trips to process everything sufficiently, much more than a week really. I feel like a month is okay.
When you know the territory a whole lot more then you can handle the experience and the mental changes and are also able to integrate them more efficiently afterwards.

I think you are getting a noticeable amount of after effect because you are not taking enough time between trips to process and integrate. This happens on many conscious levels and not only where it is really apparent. Yes you say you felt it after the first trip as well and then it is also normal and the most intense because you have never felt it before that point.

About your doses being one hit: there could be a whole range of doses in that hit, it would be more helpful if you describe the intensity of effect.

Eh? It changes the "distribution" of your brain receptors? Who told you that?

LSD is a powerful drug in some senses, but it's incredibly safe and non-toxic.

You might doubt it, but it is definitely true.
However, this sounds a lot more problematic than it actually is in most cases.
It is just a natural response of neurons to excessive stimulation: up- or downregulation of certain receptors.
Something similar happens in your eyes everyday when it gets dark.
Although one can argue that playing with 5-HT2 receptors inside your own brain is more dangerous than the white/black flashes when you overexpose your retina to light...

Well, all my experienced friends say that these tabs are a little above average.. Unfortunately I have no idea what average is seeing as I've only gotten tabs from one supplier. During my experiences while I'm at my peak I get pretty vivid patterning, and amazing closed eye visuals.. My body gets kind of a tingling sensation all over. When I listen to music it's like I can feel it...

Personally, I'd say it's a pretty intense experience, but I'm probably not the person to be asking. Hope that helps.

:)
