DATSIK Discussion Thread

I tried to go to a datsik show a few weeks ago. There was no presale, tickets were $10 and they stopped letting people under 21 in after 11. I waited on line from 8:25-11:00. I was close to getting it. It was bullshit, someone from the club came out and said that everyone would get in. We showed up well before they were letting people in. I definitely don't blame datsik entirely, but he could have easily been at and sold out the music venue nearby. Not sure why he decided to go to some shitty club instead.
 
I think Datsik has shitty management personally. The venues he gets booked at are usually fallign apart and can only fit 200 people comfortably.. Right now he can easily sell 400 tickets on a week night in any major city whatsoever and easily over 600 tickets on a weekend. I also talked to his manager personally about booking him as well as excision one time. I am by no means an experienced promoter but I could tell they don't exactly have all their ducks lined up in a row.

Anyways the Datsik show for my area is next saturday (week from today) and they sold out the original venue which only held 280 people (and thats when 60 of the people are outside on the balcony smoking, Mimosa played there on a thursday and even with shitty promotions the place was PACKED)

So now its at a place that holds 650 but three out of my five friends don't like the place from previous experiences... I saw some pictures, it didn't look horrible. Especially for a 15 dollar show. I wish he would release a new mix, its been a while. I have a bunch but im getting sick of them. If anyone has some mixes he released for free for distribution, PM me and we will trade.

Anyone heard the Datsik/12 planet (aka Infiltra when he spun DNB) track texx Mars? the track is ridiculous... i can only imagine it on a club system. Or even better, a festival!
 
I was going to go to one of his shows later on this month, but they changed all the EDM shows at the venue to 18+ :/ Anyways he is by far one of my favorite producers and I can't wait to see him at Shambhala. But you should check out Jehova project, and as you probably already know, he kills it in some of his and excision's remixes.
 
yep he does on the jehova project.. I got in a personal glowstick war with datsik at the show I saw last... had a BLAST

i like how layered his bass is. makes it sound slow, even at close to 140 BPM. it just sounds really badass

Datsik is playing in Sydney on the 14th January, but unfortunately the epic psytrance duo Shpongle are playing on the same night and I'm going to see them instead. I figured that Datsik is younger and more recent than Shpongle so I'm more likely to be able to see Datsik again sometime in the future :)

It's such a shame though because my younger brother, who is in med school and hardly EVER goes out, and who I got in to dubstep, is going to see Datsik!! And I won't be there to party with him! Damn :!
 
Datsik is sweet but I hear him at every dubstep show/rave I go to. He'll be around as long as dubstep will be. Any simon posford shows will be rarer and I would usually chose one of them over a datsik show.
 
I get to see Excision & Downlink in a month on their subsonic tour. It's not Datsik but close enough.

I can't believe I was in miami and they were both playing along with many other great dubstep and dnb dj's and I just got too fucked up. I don't remember any of the sets.. im sure they rocked.. but damn :( lol.

I do remember Datsiks performance from November pretty clearly and it was a blast! I thought the set list coulda been tweeked a little bit.. as it was a TAD predictable.. but.. still... loved it.

Saw Datsik on saturday night at Miss Libertine's in Melbourne.
Aside from the apparent sound restrictions, ie: was no where near as loud as dubstep should be, I could hold a conversation quite easily. Dubstep should be so loud and bassy, you feel like you're gonna throw up.

Anyways, his Set was amazing. Although he went a bit overboard with the filters during 'Swagga', but nevertheless - AWESOME! And I got photos with him. AND he followed me and my mate up the road to 7-11 with his singers (groupies!), we offered him a lift to where he was staying, but he was only like 2 mins up the road anyways, so he gave us photo op's and was on his way.

He was definitely a cool and very approachable guy. But so young! He looked as though he was like 16. I almost felt like asking if his mummy knew where he was hahahaha.
