GBL Megathread 5: Germans do it better

It still amazes me how my normal dose of GBL is so much higher than everyone elses. I have the german stuff, and I tend to be quite sensitive to drugs, but for GBL my dose is 2-2.25ml

I'm like this goku.

It's due to the enzymes in your stomach, you must have fewer of them than others.

DS can you elaborate on this?

I didn't know that the enzymes in your stomach played such an important role, but have often wondered how the body converts the GBL. I know I have to wee more (lol) after dosing, so think my kidneys are working hard to process the stuff.

Thanks
k

I'm not positive about this - I could be chatting shit. Lactonase enzymes convert GBL to GHB, so having more of them would increase the bioavailability?

Cheers DS, I should read up / research this more as I like to know what's going on in my body as it deals with the abuse I'm giving it!

GBL appears to have quite an impact on my digestive system, especially on the days afterwards :| I can feel my gut n' intestines groaning n' squirming from mouth to botty...

Does anyone else get this?

Lactonase enzymes are in the blood, not the stomach, so GBL is converted to GHB in the bloodstream.. there aren't really any enzymes in your stomach, just lots of hydrochloric acid :)

GBL is coverted to GHB after crossing the blood brain barrier though, so I assume the enzymes also somehow cross the BBB.

Sorry if this has been discussed before. I was doing a bit of reading earlier and seem to have found some information stating that due to GBLs industrial use it only carries class C penalties if; it is in the possession of someone intenting to consume it or sell to someone they know is planning to. If this is the case would it be up to the law to prove you were intenting to use it recreationally or up to the person in possession to prove they had a legitimate use?

Could be useful for anyone caught with some if this is clarified.

All I know is, some websites make you sign a decleration for your order, where you state its legal intended use, so if its stopped by customs, they can see its not going to be used for anything illeagel.

You are jsut carrying about some plastic precursor, or alloy cleaner if you prefer :) As long as you dont have it ina drink/pipette ur fine. Will be seized, threats, given back.

GHB and GBL are both class C. If you have a legitimate use for GBL then they can't prosecute you.
I imagine the burden of proof lies with them, but I think it would just be a case of, you had it on a night out, you weren't going to clean wheels, *clink*.

You make me feel ever so silly :(

Some just prefer the effects and many also believe (mistakenly) it to be safer. It is no more or less safe and - if anything - is actually harder to dose cos it's diffictult to know exactly how much you are taking unless you convert it well enough to leave a pure powder rather than a gloopy liquid of unknown dilution.
In the past, I've known exactly how much GBL I've put in, then used a pipette to measure how much liquid I have at the end. Then it's just a simple sum to work out the concentration. I never had a problem that way.

I've never heard that before. I just thought it was converted in the blood, then it went to the brain. Don't suppose you have a link for that, do you?

Yea its on wikipedia. GBL is lipophilic, i.e. it can dissolve in fats. Thats why GBL hits faster and harder than GHB, it just walks right across the blood brain barrier.

I think?

Edit:
After looking, Im not sure thats right. But if thats the case, why does GBL hit faster & harder?
Is it just because it gets into the blood stream faster?

Wikipedia as a source?

GBL is indeed more lipophilic, which means it is more able to pass the BBB. If it was mainly converted in the blood it would be no different to GHB because it doesn't take long to convert and so it would just convert and then act as GHB.
There must be some conversion in the brain or the lipophilia would count for nothing.

Also, have you ever seen someone with low lactonase levels use GBL?
Even on a small dose they tend to get really sleepy, get a nasty headache and feel awful. It takes a good hour for them to feel like a normal user, and even then they feel a bit sketchy. Next time, they are fine.
If GBL was not able to pass into the brain, it should have a much less prominent effect, but I suspect that it is deposited in the brain, accumulates and doesn't hydrolyse easily, causing a headache.
For a normal user, it is deposited in the brain, where it is quickly hydrolysed. Some is broken down in the blood, but I think there is a meaningful amount which is hydrolysed in the brain

I still maintain that it is converted in the blood. I think it is absorbed in the stomach quicker than GHB (and I think even converted a little in the stomach), then it heads straight for the brain. I would think this is because GHB (even as a liquid) would take longer to break down, due to it being a salt. This is pure speculation, but I think it sounds right.

So am I right in thinking higher Lactonase levels result in smaller doses?

Treacle is right, gbl gets quickly absorbed by the stomach lining and then converted in the plasma, occurs within 3 minutes.
