Okay; Didn't really know where else to put this; hope it doesnt get shut down
anyways
Been smoking for a while now; gotten caught twice second time being pretty bad; wanted to know what its been like getting caught for you guys if you have and how you reacted and stuff; and also have any of you come to the parents and told them straight up or do you hide it?
Im fixing to come out with the truth when im 18 which is in a year; and idk how they'll react or whatevers
this is not an advising session; its more of a comments and opinions and personal experiences if you feel like sharing

Funny this gets mentioned. I have been smoking since 99 since i was 14 and have been caught a few times. Yesterday actually was the most recent time as my mum knows I smoke and has caught me many times b4 but is happy i smoke at home and not somewhere else where i could get caught and arrested. IN the past I use to hide it but these days I just let her know i had a smoke its a lot easier than lying.

But yeah i got caught yesterday and didn't lie. showed her my bong as she could smell weed. And we sat down had a a short talk and that was that.....so yeah it all depends. You definitely have to pick the right time to let them know.....im sure they wont be happy about the drug use but more happy your open with them....Hope this helps.

yeah dude that does sound good ayy; thanks for the comment; another thing i was thinking is also cultural background; my rents have never been near drugs before and to them heroin and weed are the same thing; while alcohol and tobacco are okay and i smoke and drink in front of them no problem....
its kind of annoying actually how they are letting me smoke and drink which are like the top 2 killers in society while they think if i smoke some bud im gona go to jail and what not.....
society is such a bitch

Yeah obviously they have been brought up to their beliefs. My advise is go for a walk down ur driveway or down the street if you want a smoke or wait until they are asleep if you smoke bongs. Either way i don't like your chances if they find out your smoking weed :( it's upto you if you want to bring up the subject of weed and see their stance then maybe you can tell them. Its a tough call to be honest :(

Research your shit. Find articles and what not online that disprove the propaganda. Then, gather your info and sit down with your parents. Honesty is really the best answer. It took me over 2 years to convince my parents to let me smoke, but it is well worth it.

This is what I thought, but now me and my parents have reached an unspoken agreement where they don't want me to smoke but don't paticularly mind if I do. I've come to realise some parents (like mine) are never going to truly accept it.

For me it's got to the point were ive been caught so many times they just dont bother getting pissed about it anymore.

My parents were pretty accepting, if I was low on bud they would even hook me up.

My parents made me homeless when I was 17 and studying for my A-levels when they found out. I think it kind of fucked my life up to be honest (their handling of it, not the cannabis). It's put a big strain on my relationship with my dad because I have a deep seated resentment for the way he treated me. It's not like I can change their mind because they are so brainwashed. They are dogged with their twisted beliefs about what is just a plant. The more I try to convince them the more 'off the rails' they think I am :(

I don't know why I just shared that.

I don't know anything about your family but with mine they said the same stuff about heroin and weed being the same as well as claims that they've never been near drugs before.

Once I got to my early 20s my parents admitted to me that they smoked pot, dropped acid and a couple other deviant drugs back in the 1960s and early 1970s but that it was "a different time period back then." They only admitted this to me after I got caught for the 2nd time with a marijuana violation at my university.

I wasn't completely shocked though as I found several books written about LSD from the 60's and 70s scattered throughout the bookshelf in the basement. And my parents are wealthy, educated, law abiding citizens (one parent has PHD, other has MD).

So they got to have the fun whilst they were young but we can't, because this is a different period of time? This is the exact problem with politicians. They need to take a hard look at themselves.

I`ve been a daily user since I was 16. My parents were stoners back in their day, and still smoke occasionally, so they've never had a problem with my smoking. They'd much rather see me with a joint in my mouth than a bottle, and I'm glad I have the kind of relationship with my parents where we can spark a bowl and watch a film, or show off my new bong without eyerolling or judgement. My father actually went to a pro cannabis rally with me, which I think is pretty badass.

When I started smoking I got booked so many fucking times I lost track. Like the first handful of times I felt bad about it. But then I was just like "meh, they're just gonna yell, big deal, its words." So I would just basically prepare myself before I went into my house to get yelled at during the times I forgot my eye drops. Eventually I was getting caught like 3 or 4 days every week. They realized the lecturing wasn't having any effect. After a couple of months of me getting booked constantly they just accepted the fact that I smoke and gave me permission to smoke in the garage.

Haha no, they only care about themselves and that'll never change...whatever gets them elected they capitalize on. If a country had a huge demographic of marijuana users politicians would have no choice but to support to be elected, only problem is a lot of people who smoke weed are disillusioned with the political system and don't vote or vote independent.

You should have the same mentality, just do what you feel is right. Don't let anyone control you, that's what it all comes down to: control, power.

Your parents want you to be a good boy and make them proud and happy, they obviously don't care about your happiness to throw you out. It's all masqueraded by them wanting "whats best for you" and because they "love you so much." They want to be able to brag about you to their friends, feel like since youre successful they in turn are successful for being their offspring, and have you live an immaculate life to make up for their mistakes and shortcomings.

My mom was like that. She was NOT happy when I started smoking at 15 but once I became an adult at 18, or pretty close to an adult at 17 she realized I wasn't going to stop just because she would prefer that I not use herb at all.

She was OK with me smoking herb alone or with friends as long as I didn't smoke daily and do nothing but just stay high and not keep up grades, hold a job, or have a life that only revolved around nothing but smoking. She also told me to keep my smoking on the DL from our nosy neighbors that love to gossip and how I shouldn't drive after smoking and how if I got caught by the law I was an adult and it was my problem.

damm yoo; to be honest i agree with so much of that; hell good of an insight and didnt really ever give it that kind of view; but also i think the major thing is ignorance cause they think im gona be seeking out other shit soon; i think they are more worried about me going to do like heroin or crack next and i tried explaning that i've got a margin and i respect my body and got my own limits and all but they think there's a fiend inside anyone who does drugs all the while not realizing how bad alcohol and tobacco is man; its a total mindfuck to try and figure out goes on forever.... point is that really i dont think im ever gona change their mind; eventually they will have to accept it even if they dont agree with me; im just glad my rents arent throwing me out of the house or any shit like that; i just wana come out with the truth when im 18 that would be best

Dude; in a way i know what you mean they think your reasons and and explanations are just excuses to do it; they think that since you've dedicated some sort of time to educate yourself about the topic your life revolves around it; they think that you are simply a fiend trying to get your fix right?
that kind of shit sucks man seriously the bullshit that governments planted on ppl's mind is so ridiculous and the media so biased; this kind of shit troubles me so much im gona kill someone hahaha; but yeah dude i know what you mean and tbh im so sorry for that cause you dont deserve it;
now with junkies and crackheads thats another story yo... those are things that simply one shouldnt fuck with period. and the people that have well they just need help i cant imagine what a physial addiction would be like... quitting smokes is hard enough

Please keep in mind that, while it is good to have a mind of your own and not let others influence your decision-making, certain decisions can have long-term, negative consequences attached to them.

Live your life, be happy... just remember that there are always rules in place and any time you break them it's at your own risk-- whether those rules concern your house, your school, workplace or just society in general.
