Well well well. The Newcastle NYE doof was possibly the best party I've ever been to. I am sorely lamenting its departure from my life.

Hey gang

I went to my first ever bush doof over the new year, and i was blown away by how awesome everything was. I mean, when i got home i felt like a different man, like i had been reborn almost.
It was a smaller doof, bout 200-300 people but the sound system was impressive and some of the psy they had pumping made my ears bleed with pleasure!!

I'm deffinately converted, i want to make doofs a regular thing in my life. Although i had a feeling i'd love them. I hope Royal Doof is a certainty this year, and outdoors.
And hopefully i'll meet some victorian bluelighters at a few this year?

What did you think of the music? A mate said the main floor was only Hardstyle, which surprised me. Was it hard psy, or Subbies-style doof doof music?

Some dudes set up another stage (which wasn't the main stage) and played more *ahem* commercialised stuff, electro, breaks, possibly hardstyle at some point I'm not sure. So that might've been what your mate was talking about?

But the MAIN stage was definitely psy the whole time.

Best psy was the fast dark shit at about 3-4am, then some other guy came on afterwards and slowed it down heaps and just totally killed it :D English and I were devo'd!!!

And of course Science was with me! Always is

music was A+++ grade psychoactive material.. until i got extremely sick and vomited my way to sleep (partially thanks to hillbilly's lethal potion).

BEST.PARTY.EVER.

spending 5 days in the bush is amazing, i never wanted it to end.
I don't recall any hardstyles; the main stage was pure win pretty much the entire party.

my bestie made it back from NZ for the weekend and we got to see in the new year morning with Neo in our favourite fashion - champagne on the dance floor.

On a more serious note though:
some of my crew had an incident with a not so random; someone who is a part of another well known doof crew felt it was appropriate to touch up other girls when swimming in a large group.
I don't wanna bring down the fun time tone of any future parties but it would seem that we're not as safe as we once thought we were.
The village dealt with it and I don't believe this guy will be turning up at any future parties until he has sought appropriate help (and if he does he'll be promptly returned to civilisation).
I just wanted to make people aware of what is possible, especially considering this happened in broad daylight in a groupe containing other guys...
I out this up here as a warning to others and in case any of the Sydney crew that we don't know personally haven't heard of this incident.

Shitness aside, this was an awesomlely well put together party and I can't wait for more fun times :D

Hillbilly, Dan and I were discussing this at length today. That blows me away, and I'm glad I wasn't there. Don't know how I would have reacted.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Such things are so rare at doofs, this person is now well known, and we're a tight and protective group. It just shits me though that such a thing could happen at all, as the women not getting hassled at the parties is one of the most fundamental rules imho. I really enjoy the fact they can get munted as they want, dance the way they want, chatter away all night and feel safe and comfortable. I'd hate for anything to ever take that away.

Umm but yeah *sigh*.....doofs are so sick. I'm down in victoria and the crowd at the nye doof seemed lovely. Friendly people, i left my shoes right next to the dance floor in plain site and they were still there 12 hours later. I almost feel embarressed i locked my car heh.

Rainbow doesn't interest me all that much. Main reason i'm not going is i cant afford it. But even if i could the idea of 3-4 days in hot dusty conditions doesn't appeal to me. And i think even this thread there have been some posts about how it's lost it's charm over the last few years.

I really hope royal doof is on this year. That was supposed to be my first doof but when i found out it was a one night thing in the city i was meh about it. Praying to the psy trance gods royal is on and kicks the shit outta my head haha. In a good way.

I've been going to doofs since 2001, mainly in South Africa and Italy. The ones I've been too in Oz have had quite a nice crowd so far, with few creepies.

Anyone else love the people and atmosphere but is sick to death of the music? All I can stomach nowadays is very old school goa trance, and in small doses.

I'd be happy to be pleasantly surprised though. Anything out recently that is mind-blowingly unpredictable and not brimming with full-on cliches?

^^ When was the last doof you went to man? I have to say that probably 1 out of every 3-4 doofs I go to, the music absolutely BLOWS MY MIND. And I've been doofing regularly since 2005. So perhaps you should just come to one and see how it goes for you %)
Plus it would just be cool to have you there anyway :D

What is it about the music that makes you "sick to death of the music"?

Personally i can't stand doofs that only play banging psytrance the whole time as it gets boring. A good mix of genre's always works a treat

zemullman: I guess you could say the main reason is 'too much of a good thing' I positively brainwashed myself on the stuff! But I've never liked high energy full-on, which isn't very psychedelic IMO. Good to hear there'll be a nice mix of styles at RS, it's fun to wander between stages!

Is there anything insteresting coming up in Feb/March within a few hours of Sydney preferably with some drum and bass as well as trance?? Im not a huge trance fan and all the doofs seem to be trance orientated. When I was overseas most of the doofs were drum and bass/trance which was more to my liking
