Why isn't Ecstasy legal?

There's quite a few reasons why I wouldn't want Ecstasy to be legalized...

- Sure, it would be amazing, but that also means that the MDMA levels in it would be regulated, and it would be PURE mdma, nothing more, nothing less, no other fun stuff. :p

Personally, I'd love to know that when I took a pill it was 120mg pure MDMA, not MDA or ketamine or meph or pipes. I'd want those legalised too, but I'd want to know what I was taking :) (I know you mentioned testing kits, but they aren't perfect - e.g. a mix of a little MDMA and caffeine will still test positive)

- So many people would think "oh, the doctors give it out, it must be alright to take it every day and get high as fuck!" and you think, oh well everybody would be high on MDMA, that would be amazing, then comes the depression, things could possibly even become worse from legalizing it, people could get pretty fucked up.

This is a possibility, but this already happens doesn't it? And people eventually realise for themselves that they're overdoing it - the legality of the drug doesn't seem to make a difference. Plus you could have health campaigns saying 'don't overdo it' rather than 'don't do it'.

I would support it being decriminalized in personal amounts, but as for legalization or prescribing it i'm not so sure..
That solution doesn't really tackle most of the problems. OK, so users are no longer prosecuted; but most users have never been arrested. I certainly haven't. The problems of organised crime, varying dose and purity, unreliable supply, users having to associate with criminals etc remain.

If mdma was legal, there would be people would take it EVERYDAY just like alcohol and cigarettes.

Unforunately if you took mdma every day for just 1 year, MOST people would be a vegetable pretty much and would likely NEVER recover.

The reason they dont legalize it is because the law was made to protect the stupidest in society.

Ha so true... things are safe in moderation, some people will always lose self control when chasing any kind of high.

It should be illegal to those who don't learn about it first. Say taking several classes or something gives you access to it a few times a year. Having it legal without educated users would lead to more harm then good.

Some people say E is safer than alcohol, but I disagree. You can drink a little bit once a week and be fine, but if you roll once a week I don't think so.

Imo it belongs in schedule I, it dosen't really have any medical use with the exception of possible treatment for PTSD, but that has much studying to do. Sure MDMA isn't THAT harmful, but it sure affected me significantly for months after using it only 7-8 times total, no more frequently than once a week. (usually not that frequent)

If only you didn't have free will! (Wait, you do, quit holding other people accountable for what they couldn't under draconian bullshit anyways.)

LOL, I thought the wearing hat while rolling question was funny. HOLY

methylenedioxymethamphetamine should be schedule 2, just like cocaine or meth. look at the contents of that name!

What does that name tell us about the appropriate legal status of the drug?

hell weed should be scheduled differently too
the hole scheduling thing is set up by politics
i wonder how they would make it if politics were not included and it was based on science alone
