DRUG users are playing "Russian roulette" with two deadly new legal highs, experts warn.
The alert is over party drugs Diablo and Eric 3.

Both can spark serious bouts of sickness - and experts claim they can be as dangerous as some class A and B drugs.

The two stimulant-based highs have grown in popularity since Meow Meow (mephedrone) was outlawed following deaths. Dr Ken Checinski, of drug treatment charity Addaction, said: "These are too new for there to be any reliable information.

"It's important for people to make informed judgments. With these substances people can't. People will be playing Russian roulette." Several teenagers have been hospitalised by the drugs in Cambridge alone.

A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Child and Adolescent Substance Use Service said: "Legal highs can have similar health risks to drugs like cocaine, ecstasy and speed."

It's like Coca Cola adverts. They don't tell you anything "new", or (in the case of The Sun) "true", but their sheer pervasiveness does the selling.

The message is, Legal high=Russian roulette=instant death.

Perhaps they think that if they can get all known legal highs banned then coke will become less adulterated with "legal high" cutting agents and the Sun reporters can score better quality coke with which they can write poorer quality articles :-)


The reader comments give folks like us a chance to shine a light or reason at the article. The Sun normally attracts the most vitriolic reader comments. A more insightful reader comment in one of these articles is worth 10 in the Guardian. It's tougher territory but that's where we can potentially make a real difference to peoples perception of drugs.
 
Eric 3 aint got shit on this new Jimmy 7 i'm getting, it's the new Billy-Bob 9, tbh. Way way way better than that other crap batch of Phil 5's going about
 
God damn it this pisses me off. Stop butchering chemicals and give them their appropriate IUPAC names, this is chemistry for christ sake. This is what i cant stand then retards buy this shit promoting names like "force 5". No sir i will not buy your eric 3 because thats not actually a compound. Ill buy your MDPV and send it to a lab to get a MS/GC on it.
 
I wish the governments would let the idiots buy the "Eric 3"'s and kill themselves off with it, with improper research etc and we can all get on with our lives.
