[LA] Together as one 2010/2011

I would love for trance to be played there...but it just isn't popular with the new crowd of EDM folk...not yet/isn't anymore. 3 CDs full of Trance got me into EDM back in 2002-2003, and I listened to trance all the way till about 2008-2009, then all of a sudden electro house and dubby types started appearing in my playlists. I love all kind of electronic musics, and music in general. Anything that sounds good, flows, and has musical taste. Not pertaining just to electronic either.

i was bummed out that all the trance we get this newyears is schulz, and its an early set too, but better than nothing. i guess this newyears we're going back to the roots with house music, gonna be there for sure. I know atleast 40 people who are going too so it'll be fun newyears. Not as good at Armin Only couple years ago, and fuck it ends at 2am too which blows, but its the only under 21 event thats worth going to i guess. i really wish i had a 21 ID so i could go see Gabriel and Dresden, that shits gonna be epic...and historical.

i'm headed out there myself alone. broke up with my bf of 5 years a few months ago. i need to meet some new people and possibly another bf. i'm not excited about the lack of trance this year but some of those house DJs are pretty good in my opinion.

I don't know what i'll wear either. I'm thinking of making candy to give out but it'll cost $25 bucks for 6 colors of beads and stretch string.

^me too, don't worry you'll meet people!

So like, what's everyone wearing?

I was thinking of wearing a sweater, but i have an arm full of kandi so that won't work, and i dont do vests. All the videos of TAO show people wearing t shirts , isn't it cold? or will all the body heat make it hot in the tent?

^ between the body heat and dancing your ass off (I'm assuming you'll be doing that), you'll probably be hot in a sweater. I'm either gonna wear a vest I lined with EL wire for Halloween or I'm gonna cut the sleeves off a button down shirt and sport that with a bow tie.

okay t shirt it is. i saw on the map that there's a coat check, i wonder how much they are charging? anyone know of possible price ranges?

Last year we spent the majority of the night in the (indoor) stadium/stage and it was hot as balls in there, I was shirtless the majority of the time. I do remember being quite cold as we were leaving and headed for the car though, but that was after the dancing and drugs had worn off, lol.

Just bring a sweater you can tie around your waist or something. Might sound unfashionable but its better to have it than not and having to suffer the < 45 degree temps throughout the entire night if for some reason you can't warm up.

thanks! i'll be doing that then.

Yeah, looking at the forecast it seems like the high for the daytime is 55 degrees, and there is supposed to be rain the next day so the clouds will start coming in by nightfall most likely. Going to be a cold one, bring something warm!

Great night last night! Rusko and Pendulum totally worth it. Happy New Years People!

I'm going to have to be the first I suppose to point out how fucking shitty and disorganized this event was this year. Only two window stands, 8 "lines" total, for tens of thousands of people to claim their tickets from will call?!? WHAT THE FUCK? It was a fucking madhouse and we stood in a will call riot/moshpit for nearly 2 hours before finally squeezing our way to the front of hundreds of people to get our tickets, not to mention the nearly one extra hour to stand in line to get in.

My girlfriend and I got there at 7:30 and didn't get into the event until 10:30. Missed the two artists that I wanted to see the most while we were in line. I've been to over 6 insomniac events and this was by far and away the worst organized one yet. The experience we had trying to get in was about enough to convince me to stay away from any massive they throw ever again...fuck.

That said, once we finally did get in we had a lot of fun, but I'm sure the dank pills we brought along were to thank for that, lol. Compared to last year there were very little decorations, water sold out at nearly every stand (all you could buy were $10 beers at one point) and probably half the amount of porta potties that they had available the year before.

It was like they cut their budget in half for this year's TAO. No question about it, was definitely not worth the $87 spent going this time around and I doubt if I'll be doing it again. Probably find a smaller 21+ event next NYE.

Anyway, hope everyone elses' experiences were better than ours. On the bright side, I received some of the best light shows I've ever gotten to date last night, lol.
