Hi I have been prescribed xanax for awhile and was just wondering if it would be worth it to try another benzo. I was wondering if others had better effects with one benzo over another. I use them for anxiety and a small bit of recreation but I don't get hammered with them.

I prefer klonopin over xanax because they last longer and are cheaper. Although if you have a script price isn;t an issue.

The most recreational benzos are the hypnotics (temazepam, nitrazepam, triazolam, etc), but you will not get these kinds of benzos for anxiety related disorders.

If you are looking for anxiety relief and recreational effects at the same time, I say go with diazepam (Valium). I also prefer clonazepam to alprazolam (Xanax).
If you aren't in the United States, you might find bromazepam to be an excellent option. Some people will also like lorazepam.

Xanax really is not much fun. I get it prescribed and all it does is relieve my anxiety (but it does a great job with that, I must say) and make me tired (not blissfully sedated, just tired and bored).

Klonopin! Xanax makes me too tired, Ativan's not strong enough, but Klonopin is pretty cheap (generic clonazepam). It's also pretty long acting, and I think it's the best anticonvulsant out of all the benzos (which makes it great for any kind of opiate withdrawal). The one downside is that it takes longer to kick in than Xanax, but you'll probably be able to feel it within 20 minutes at most.
