NEED HELP now.. in hospital right now cant sleep cuz pain!!!

NEED HELP!!!! k im up in pain n just misrable i hate being in the hospital, i mean i wouldn't if they would b giving me the right doseage for my pain meds. i mean u tell me diladid 2 mg thru IV/was every 4 now every 6 hours/a perk 5 mg every 4 hours/toradole unknown doseage every 4 hours. n i mean the toradole dont do... ...jack. the perks dont do jack the only thing that has been helping is the diladid every 4. N i have no idea WTF toradole is. sumone help me to guide thru this!? i just dont wanna b in pain i just had surgery I MEAN COME ON! what should i do???
 
Erm, get off the internet and talk to the doctors....If they aren't managing your pain, tell them...The docs would of giving you a course of meds, and if they are not working they can chart you more..
 
tell doc of your tolerance!make it very clear and be a constant pain in there ass!sooner or later they'll dope you up to shut you up,don't look for sympathy in a hospital they've seen it all!! and they don't care,they cant, they lose to many people to be able to care!!
 
insist on talking to doc that's on call,don't wait for original doc you'll be waiting for hours,believe me,many a times in hospital !
 
dude i went that route they wanna see how this is going to work but its not ive been in pain all day i even just went to sleep after hours of pain n woke up in more pain... they are saying they want to wein me off of these "strong" drugs... which is bull cuz i was taking 2 mg hydromorphone every 4 hours at home n perk 5's every 4 hours at home... i think i've built a tolerance n WTF is toradol cuz he told me is a pain killer n its not doing shit.... i just wanna know from u guys what they maybe thinking n wat i can do to be outta pain......
 
ok i just called the nurse she is going to be calling the doctor... i will update after i deal wit them
 
i went the sympothy route it didnt work so now im going tho pain in the ass route... thank u everyone will up date in the next 15 i hope
 
ok they just gave me a shot of IV diladid 2 mgs.... n a new bag of antibiotics called vancomycin unknown dose iv.... n also a perk 5 mg oral... ( yea i kno useless )... i apologized to the nurse i was crying and in alot of pain n she said that i didnt yell i was just stern... n she has no problem wit that as long as i didnt yell... now i have one of the docs coming in to see me to discuse all this wit me....

now the kicker is that i listed a bunch of concerns before surgery like my constant diareah, n the pain meds not working as well as they should be... the doc didnt listen to any of them n said we would talk after surgery...

well we spoke once after surgery n he said he was upping the perk n iv diladid to every 3 hours.... came back said that he is replaceing the perk wit "IV toradol(??)" unknown doseage n the iv diladid would b every 4 hours along wit the "toradol(??) he told me that the toradol is a pain med n is stronger than diladid.... (( BULLSHIT )) so i agreed... so when i called the nurse to despense these meds she said this was all incorrect

I will now be recieving the diladid every six hours (( which is why i didnt sleep n cried my eyes out all night )) the toradol every 4 hours... n now all the sudden when the next nurse came on im back on the 5 mg perkocet every 4 hours...

PLEASE SOMEONE PLEASE WTF IS GOING ON!!!! n how i should address this doctor which is going to b coming in to see me... sooo i can explain the pain meds arent working n werent working before surgery n really really r not working now.... basicly how would i go about telling him this in the best mannor so i can be outta pain... cuz it seems to me these fucks have no idea WTF they r doing

PS. side note i have been IVing 2 mg diladid at home n taking perk 15's for the last 10 days prior to me being admited but they know this cuz they were the ones who prescribed it....
 
wtf are people on the internet going to do to help your situation in the hospital. talk to your doctor and thats it.
 
Percs AND Morphine?! Be glad you get that, here's a quote from last month when I had my septoplasty done. I posted pretty much the same thread as you, but I was on codeine and diclofenac. They gave me one shot of morphine because the daytime head nurse person was sympathetic, but when they changed shifts the night one was a BITCH FROM HELL. As you can see I'm still bitter about it :P

Anyway, all you can do is just tell him you are in agony and can't sleep at all. It worked for me with the nice nurse, may work for you with the doctor.

They then moved me to my room and after 2 hours of complaining they gave me tramadol and a diclofenac, which also did nothing. This morning they send me home with 30 Tramadol. I'm like... wtf? Seriously? The shittest opioid ever? And only 30 so I can't take a load. So I'm sat here at home falling asleep and waking up immediately because of the pain. Also, I know friends and family who've had ops in the past (some extremely serious and painful) and all they were given to take home was codeine.

tell your doc the exact same shit you just told us ...you "must have" built up a tollernce to the meds THEY GAVE YOU AND THIS TORADOL ISNT WORKING FOR SHIT !tell him to up the dose on your diludid thats the only thing that helps, tell him you cant sleep you cant eat you just want rest DAMB IT!! lol Remember this if you remember anything... "THE SQUEAKY WHEEL GETS THE OIL!" i promise. you have a very legit reason to demand higher dose's of dilaudid
its not like your in the E.R "drug seeking" ......like me lol i would be kicking and screeming till i got what i wanted and so should you!!!! hang in there buddy dont just back down an agree keep telling him or the nurses they need to get you comfortable!! you want sleep !

OMG thank u this is the best advice ive been given this is exsactly right im waiting for the sergion/doctor right now this is what i am going to tell him......

Maybe they don't like you. Seriously, be a pain in the ass. I would demand to speak to someone perhaps even the person who gave you your surgery. But the more you hit the button and complain the more real your complaints will be to them. They think everyone is a drug seeker.

Also sitting online while complaining about being in unimaginable pain does not look good for you. Atleast make it look believeable.

If you have only been on these meds a short period why would you have gained a tolerance? The dr will call bullshit on that. They might give you what you want so you will shut the fuck up. I have never had an issue with recieving adequate pain relief after surgery, I don't know what you're doing wrong, but I would venture to say sitting online and acting normal has something to do with it.

Talk to the dr, tell him you are legally entitled to proper pain relief after an operation and see what he says. The less you "know" about the medication the better so play dumb. If nothing changes after speaking to this dr be a pain in the ass and hit the nurse button nonstop... cry if you have too.. but answer this honestly.. Do you want pain relief or do you want to get high?

Just so you know toradol is a NSAID.. lol The dr clearly does not care.
 
good luck dude. my last hospital stay i had 3 fractured neck vertebrates and was up for 5 days in pain. has the sleep deprivati9on hallucinations kicked in yet? thats what eventually lead the doctor to believe i really was in m ore pain than 1 10mg lortab every 4 hours would remove. best of luck.
 
Toradol is just a stronger Ibuprofen, its an NSAID, anti-inflammatory.

Get off the net and look in pain, complain. Tell him that you don't feel comfortable and can't get any sleep because the stuff their giving you isn't working. Don't say anything about tolerance, that just makes you look like a junkie. When they bring you your next dose of medicine that is the time to complain. Simply say the stuff ain't working.
 
Call the people that deal with your stay. They're not doctors. But if you threaten to call visitor services they will change their tune real quick. The dr's and nurses do not want a bad review to them. If you mention tolerance you will appear to be a junkie.

the only flaw wit that is they have not seen me online once n the only time i go online isafter i get my diladid shot they just walked in on me crying my eyes out n gave me another shot... im retty sure the plan is they are going to put me on a diladid drip n oxycotin... soo when i talk to the doc i will up date.... please pray for me that everything works out the way i want it too
 
ok everything worked out great i am now not in pain as much i am on 30 mgs of oxycotin 3 ten milligram oxys n every 4 hours i get a shot of dilidid as needed n i think the oxy is every 4 hours also..... sooo im pretty much pain free n i used a colaberation of all the suggestions (( the good ones away )) SO THANKS EVERYONE!!!! much better now
