Not to be dick, but what the fuck happened to Bluelight

When I read a post that's something along the lines of- "OMG! I'm rolling SOOOOO harddd!!!111" Sure, I usually roll my eyes and think, "Bloody kids." It's like when you go to a party full of teenagers and the only topic of discussion is how high/stoned/drunk they are, followed by a shopping list of every drink/drug they've had tonight.

But, I bet that the majority of people who feel the same annoyance at these situations were once the same or at least similar when they were young and drugs were new and more exciting?

Also, I'm sure the youngsters feel the same annoyance on reading/hearing us 'know-it-alls' rattling on about how the drugs these days don't compare to when we were young, etc, etc.

Damn. I'm so old and jaded... Fetch me my pipe and slippers son.

If bluelight's primary goal is harm reduction through education, it has to have a community which will benefit from that. So it's critical that BL is a place where people can enjoy themselves, and I think that's a huge part of the reason it's such a popular site. Personally I think the balance struck by most of the participants is bang on.

That is exactly what I meant, read the second paragraph of my post, that is what I was trying to convey. You do not see anyone from ADD posting about the quality of bluelight, or how the board has changed. They do not look down on us, when we ask questions about rcs and the like, and our questions would probably seem silly to them... That is why I said, if you feel that your drug knowledge and background is so more ´advanced than´the kids who ´roll ballz´ and do ´droogz´ well ADD is always there ;)

Those kids were us once, with no clue about anything and acting like teens. And how many mature teen friends did we have when we were teens :|

Let the kids be and do their own thing, talk the way they want to etc. For drug users sometimes I think bluelight has got a large amount of members who are narrow-minded or were probably the geeks in high school.
 
I go by "new posts" as my navigation for my bluelight experience. If a topic is interesting to me I click it, no matter what forum it is in. I have come across just as many intelligent Aussies as I have Euro's......and of course most Americans I come across are fantastic :) Youngsters are youngsters, but without that youthful spirit where would the scene be??

It will pass, just like the recent times of GBL-agogo and Meph-Mania. I generally just read (lurk) here which is absurd for someone as vociferous as myself, but I've noticed that theres always a drug theme, depending on whats going on, at the minute theres a smack drought and thats the topic du-jour.

I'm with this too. Young people like anyone else who are using drugs regardless of age should be welcomed posting on BL - it has the best of the web's drug and user information / experiences which mean a lot and we are a harm reduction site so not encouraging mad stupid use like.

BL has over 4 million posts, from around 150,000 members - that's a lot of people young and old and type of person all over the world n' whatnot here. None should not be judged upon negatively for their language use, which is often regional / country specific. I post in Scots colloquial often in EADD.

BL is about information and eduction and that also means putting to bed some bad ideas about young folks posting on here, or using dodgy language as far as wee-twee in EADDland n' things about personal ecstasy experiences too. In the wider things it's really not that important.

(apart from TheSpade...but he loves that kinda thing, so we fullfill his needs too :D)
 
BL is a harm reduction site, so it's better those people come here and learn the facts and how to consume things as safely as possible. Although I do think that search deserves more attention as there is a lot of repetitive posts. But everyone starts somewhere and it's better they start with a load of information rather than none!

I'm an american and I never visit the Ecsatcy Discussion thread for the above metioned reasons, and in North and South Amercian DD ,It is hard to post anything in the official 5th edition heroin discussion or the previous discussions because of people saying "you are lying" etc..
Their seems to b a lot of people in that from Chicago,USA and most are really ignorant of heroin outside of their city,and tend to flame someone who has better connections than them as lying and so on.
Uncalled for rudeness,I say and just because they buy their heroin off a guy on the corner does not mean someone else gets some in larger amounts,like 10 or even 25 grams in another part of the US, without many of these people calling them a liar and all this and that.
.Anyway they are rude in their and make me pretty angry,and I am considering stopping posting totally in bluelight and going to Hip Forums or some site like that,where the people are more friendly ingeneral and are from the US,UK,Canada,etc..
.. and know that some peoples connections and prices they get are not the same as everyone elses,and do not flame someone out of jealousy or mostly ignorance..thank you for letting me vent.. and not all the idiots are from chicago in that thread,just 90% of them it seems,some are nice and cool.the rest to genrealize are pricks..

I never knew what BLuelight was like before, but what I would like to see is less people joking when a person posts something stupid like this - http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=541312 - just posting things which could be potentially harmful, when someone asks something rather ignorantly - if they're this ignorant, what's stopping them from taking your advice when you egg them on jokingly?

Other than that, it's easy to ignore the things you don't like on an internet forum, really...unless of course it's ruining it for you & many other people.

I was going to mention that semi-intelligent discussion still occurs in the psychedelic drugs board and then...that.
 
we were all young (at least some of us ;)) and stupid/uneducated once. HR is about educating the young about proper/safe/less dangerous drug use.

Live and let live, but god do I miss the hive.

The reason we have AusDD and EADD is because those forums were US-dominated and the rest of us needed somewhere to talk. But even then, there are non-Americans in there: in ED I can think of me, Bilz0r, MazDan, Masheadatronic and there are surely many more.

On the age limit: it's been discussed before but we need to educate the yoof (and how could we enforce an age limit anyway?). Too, some of our best members have been 14 or 15 when they joined. I'd hate to see them as unwelcome.

I learned a ton on this site, that is for sure. Of course there should not be an age limit, but the mods at ED should really take that place more seriosuly. Lots of kids start with hard drugs on E, and its the best place to get their attention on harm reduction. Peace
