Whats your Favourite UK Club [Current]

another +1 for lakota but my heart lies with the black swan for free-party scuzziness and atmosphere, and soundsystem generally pretty sorted these days :D

amazing soundsystem ran by people who really know what they're doing, insane venue (especially now with the church open), regular good nights, amazing crowds, sound enough bouncers and lots of good ol N2O

only ever been to one early morning after hours club and it was a horrible place, so much so i wouldnt want to go back to another

clubs are best from night time until around 6am or so then (for me at least) its time to find a couch and a bag of weed or something

i dont have a fave club, theres a number of factors that are required for the night to be amazing and a specific location alone is never enough

Sankeys (Manchester) - Been going to sankeys for a good 3 years or so, sometimes week in week for months in a row. Apparently voted recently "World best club" lol???? Ive been to some very good nights here and some very shite ones. The clubs layout is having to go through the bar to get into the basement, and having to go through there to get into the top floor (spektrum) but its pretty nicely furnished (untill you turn the lights on). Pretty poor toilet layout, and if you dont go for a shit before upstairs closes your fucked! All in all a good club thats kept me entertained for alot of weekend, has some good line ups though. Since they got voted best club though they seem to have alot more security inside, see alot more people getting chucked out now as they no longer turn a blind eye. There door policy is pretty iffy, they judge people on what therye wearing and thats final, unless your a regular, then youll be alright.

Mint Club (Leeds) - Probally a mix up between this and sankeys as which is best but I think mint takes it. Quite a small club but always a very good atmosphere, a good soundsystem and the layout is good unless its packed and your tryna get to the toilet. Never seen anyone turned down from this club, or IDed etc.. Has nice late opening times, been on a few benders in here till 9am and its still quite busy, compared to sankeys where all the pippperz and beers have gone home by 5 and sankeys is empty!. The smoking area is good as its covered, they seem to turn a blind eye to the odd joint aswell outside which is good, the lightings very good aswell on the ceiling. Seems to be a little ahead of the times compared to sankeys aswell as the people.

Ive been to a few other small clubs in manchester, not really many that are worth mentioning went to Area 51 a few times but it was always pretty shite, no good music or atmosphere, Club V was alright full of posers though!

What you think then name your best clubs youve been to I fancy a quick trip!

I must say you are aboslutely spot on there mate. If I had to pick my two favourite clubs in the UK, they'd definately be Sankeys (+ Spektrum) and Mint Club.

There's a club in Barcelona that I absolutely love... the name eludes me right now (probably because its 4am and I gotta be up for work at 6am (unless I go in later than norm, can go in between 7.30 and 9.30. getting the first train [6.20am] gets me there for 7.30am. If I get the last train possible (8.04am), I get in for 9.30 but I only gain an hour and a half sleep)

Anyway, I will post tomorrow explaining why I love Sankeys and Mint Club and also with the name of the club in Barca. Great club though, in a castle on the top of a hill in a really secluded area. Totally open air with the DJ booth in the middle of the 'room'! Incredible!

the black swan is in easton and the free party will be a "details available from partyline on the night" type job in a warehouse somewhere i am lead to believe.

Only went once so can't remember. This was in 1994/95
We were going to club uk midlands, but it was closed that night, and the girl we were with said my friend was dressed too casual for pimp at picassos. It may have been called something like big apple or manhattens or something? Smallish club, decent house music.
 
would have to be the West Indian Centre in Leeds, far too much fun has been has there! but the Black Swan in Bristol was ace too i'm sure I could love that place and Back to Basics in Leeds is fucking TOP %) do enjoy Sankeys and Mint but couldn't say their my faves...

quite possibly going to Motion in Bristol for NYE heard many good things about that place, oh and going Razzmatazz in Barcalona on saturday which is supposed to be good, but even if its shit APHEX FUCKING TWIN and VIBERT/EDMX/DJREPHLEX i could almost piss myself with excitement! :D :D :D

it my mates first time on a plane and his first time seeing RDJ so he literally might burst =D

Love it Limey - 2 excellent clubs there - uk midlands was sort of state of the artish at the time with loudest sound in the country

Picassos was a right dump but fucking brilliant - proper mad hole - cut my raving teeth in there at a very early age first pill etc

Love it that picassos is referenced by a Floridian. International (dis)reputation! Love it!
 
used to like dojo's in bristol, and timbuk2, probably cos they weren't as filthy as blue mountain and clockwork. lakota for the decorations.

looks like i need to get myself to mint, mates who used to live in leeds rave about it, finding people to go to these things with is hard as the boyf needs a long break from drugs and most of my other mates think i'm some sort of degenerate for taking drugs, lol maybe i should invite them, get fucked up beyond belief and justify their opinion of me.

been to back to basics once, got ripped off by someone who was supposed to be good mates with my friend, handing over £30 for 2 lines of 'coke' to someone you've just given a load of mdma to for nothing, IN A DROUGHT, will ruin a night. can see how its good if you go the right night with the right ppl.

I get same problem as you most of my mates either cant afford it, are not into drugs, under there mrs thumb or just simply aint into the rave scene. There only about 2 or 3 of my m8s who are pretty much certains everytime. Come down to bristol NYE and come with me if ya want haha :)

Yes! I forgot about that place. I've only been once, but it is a good venue, for the short time I was in it! :) I took too much Acid and was carried out by a kind but a bit scary bouncer after getting very lost and confuzzled and wandering into their weed smoke filled poker room that was off limits to anyone other than bouncers. Went back to a mates, took some MDMA and was grand.

I've tried to get to an Iration Steppas night three times there, and missed them every time. That'd be amazing!
 
Not so current but The Brunel Rooms in Swindon and Goldiggersin Chippenham were both mental back in the day......
 
Sub Club in Glasgow is BEAST. Bouncers are relaxed and always has a good atmosphere. Not a fan of the 'I AM' nights though, been to a few and it just didn't feel right.

'I AM'?? Is that the student night in a Tuesday?? No wonder it doesn't feel right, DJs that are soooo good they DJ'd my mates house party a couple of months ago lol. plus loads of students out for cheap booze does not make for a good night.

Return to Mono or Subculture are the two best nights at Sub Club. RTM the mora with Dave Clarke! Should be a winder!
