Stuff to do in Perth?

Having lived here for all my life, you'd think I'd know what there is to do in the day/ night etc. But I don't!

If I'm out with friends in the day, we hit up the shops, lounge around the Myer couches, window shop, the usual. At night, (when I go out) I'm usually at Rise or Black Betties.

I know there's a lot of cool stuff to do that I just don't know about, so who has any ideas? Hidden buildings, abandoned buildings, anything really!

Share your experiences Perthians.
 
I've got a road trip in the planning for next year once I'm on my P's. But I just mean in general. Cool places, etc. For example, I only recently found out about the abandoned power station in Freo, or the mental hospital in Swanbourne. They were awesome. So just other places like that really. Things to do while you're bored and feeling reckless.

How old are you? abandon buildings? lol Mall rats?

Sounds like a sick place to steal beer and drink it while smokin billies and snow cones when you are 13
 
It's not so much a Perth thing, it'll happen anywhere, once the usual stuff has been done you have to branch out and start exploring. Leaving Perth would solve the problem for a few months at most.

ShitKebab, my friends and I get off on stolen beer and mall trawling.
 
There isn't all that much to explore there.

Not that i'm bashing my hometown but I left it because it was artistically and culturally deserted.

I love nature and exploring too. I can think of the Middle Swan wineries, Araluen Botanical Gardens, Mundaring National Park and Dam as a few locations.

Beyond that pretty much nothing in Perth. Also it's isolation to other destinations makes it a pretty boring place to live.
 
Because I'm into fishing, I like top venture down south during the Salmon run and catch a few from the beach which can be an awesome adrenaline rush.

Plenty of beautiful scenery too, but if you want to stay around the metro area try some surfing or snorkeling at Metams Pool. Great reef to go around, plenty of sexy fish and if you go out further enough, there a giant hole that you can venture down into :D

Apart from that there is the notorious Northbridge for the Friday/Saturday night's. Or leedy goes off on Wedneday nights.

Hire a Kayak and go paddling and trolling with lures.

Drive out of town and enjoy the last of the wildflowers. Walk into the bush and collect seed from things like Banksia, Grevillea etc and grow them from seed. Ony tip I'll give is scarafy them before germinating them and put them straight into a 200mm pot with good mix in it. Plant them in your garden.

Enjoy the beach before it gets too hot.

I saw that Boab recently when I went over to WA for a holiday/friend's wedding/to visit the parentals. amazing that it's 700 years old or something along those lines..

guess there's no point suggesting a day trip to Rotto :p
(we rode around the whole island in the blazing sun- finally when we made it to the beach after that and a tour plus lunch- go figure it went really overcast)

I'm the same as you silentangst- lived there but found it hard to think of things to do (especially on my recent trip when showcasing the state to my bf who had never been before).

I moved back here to Melbourne after nearly a decade in WA (mind you specifically Mandurah) and am not regretful- bar the lovely weather and beaches there. Also liked the lax laidback vibe/lifestyle but feel there's a lot more going on here.

oh and what really annoyed me recently was their lack of shops n stuff open Sundays and extended hours
WA really does stand for 'Wait A-while..
 
We finally got extended hours!

Thanks for the ideas Klue, and I like the Rotto idea too. Tripping over there could be amazing.
 
I used to like putting holes through them when i had my uncles air rifle but he took it off me once he found what i was doing with it.
