Injected Blood, End in Sight

Well shit got messed up because they snooped through room and found the ER papers, and i had been dumb enough to tell them i did heroin. Needless to say things have been rough at home. But i have quit using and am done with it. Im worried about taking this Truvada medication b/c of unknown long-term effects, but i suppose ill stick with it. Just really worried that i got hep from this kid, no way to know till he gets his results in though.
 
Dr Pepper - you won't know for sure the results for some time. I asked my greenie friend for his results. Undetectable.

Realistically @ 3 mos. you'll know, 6 is precautionary.

I'm glad I was able to help and hope you are neg. Most people who have this happen do.

Use a condom with your partner in the meantime.
 
Well i cant know for sure, but just updating.
The needle stick dude got tested for both HIV and HEP C and got (-) results. I've been on antriretroviral truvada since the incident, got a few pills left. Doubt there was any need for them, but im glad i did.
Pretty sure i lucked out. Thanks for all the help and whatnot!
Ill let you know a few months down the road when i can get a more conclusive blood test.

I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you DP! In the future months you'll have a bigger sense of relief but for now, I am really happy nothing bad happened to you.

I second Captain Heroin. Glad things went well.

I'm getting tested soon for Hep & HIV. I shared needles in the past(quickly bleached before every injection) & had symptoms of early HIV development, but it also could be symptoms of my withdrawals. It scares me to think that I might have it. Fingers crossed :(
 
One of the saddest thing about this situation is the outrageous prices you are having to pay for medication and impact this loss of income is having on your life. The fucking last thing you should have to worry about when you're waiting for the results of tests for blood-borne illness is how much it's costing. It's fucking shameful.

^^too fukin true-twisted aint it,sure glad i dont live in states,at least we get free treatment in uk if your not working if you are script costs about £8 for week or twoand thats all you pay for
 
Yeah it was fucking ridiculous having to go to parents because i couldnt afford the shit as im a university student and a little strapped for cash and basically had to come clean about my h use to my family and see a psych for a little bit. But the treatment is done, i actually got drunk downtown with my buddies last night for the first time in over a month b/c your not supposed to drink on the truvada. And im off h and basically all drugs except pot, getting my tolerance down finally. Pretty sure i dodged a bullet, just got a blood test back and everythings still non-reactive (negative). Im getting another one in a couple months but im pretty confident everything is good b/c the guy whose needle i used tested clean after the incident. Never putting myself in a situation where that shit could go wrong again. Major shit came from that event. Still trying to put it behind me.

Well it turns out i did in fact contract hep c.
I dont plan to live with it however..
just gotta wait for this to finish phase 3..

basically it increases cure for genotype 1 from about 50 percent to over 80% in treatment naive, and from about 15% to 50% in those who previously failed treatment. Also reduces treatment duration from 48 weeks to 24 weeks, which is solid!

... Anyways i feel fine, only change is that I've now finally found a solid reason to completely halt my cigarette habit as well as any alcohol consumption.
And i've gotten off the dope. Just taking 1mg of sub per day rite now, about to put myself a taper schedule together.
so let this be a lesson to anybody interested in shooting up. Especially with people of questionable iv habits.
 
Wasn't even that. ive never had a probblem getting rigs in texas, and those who say they can't simply havent shopped around enough. Lots of pharms sell them.
I had prepped my shot and set it down, capped it.

This dude i used to get high with tries to hit with his shot, keeps missing, caps it and sets it down next to mine. Was already high, and i gripped it and shot it thinking it was mine.
When i realized what i did, it hit me like a ton of bricks, i was mortified.
Life's a bitch sometimes hah, especially when you are fucked up and doing stupid shit. And hanging around with junkies.

Well I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. I hope everything works out for you.
 
Week 2 of 24 begins tomorrow for treating my acute hepatitis c with pegylated interferon (pegasys) and ribivarin. Acute supposedly is WAY more likely to clear than chronic, so my fingers are crossed.
Ill update when i figure out how many of those little viron fuckers my body has destroyed/killed/eliminated.
I kinda wanna get in there like on family guy, where stewie gets in the little ship and kills all the sperm. Except id kill the hcv virons.

I watched that episode the other day :)

I've read your whole story Dr Pepper and while it sucks that you contracted HepC, it looks like you've got the best chance of beating it.
Are you still with your partner? How is she handling all of this?

And great job getting off the dope man! That's good news as well.
 
Yeah, we're still together. She's gotten tested and is clean, thank god, i'd feel horrible otherwise. She is awesome and is being very supportive through this whole thing. Being very honest with her now which is all she wants. but she's truly a beauty and i love her. Sucked explaining to her parents, but alas, it had to be done .
Trying to remain optimistic, and she makes it possible.

Well my alt levels dropped from over 1300 to 80 after 1 week of therapy. Ast dropped hugely as well.
Doc says thats fantastic news. Wont have viral loads checked til 2 weeks from now. Hopefully will be undetectable then.
