injected syrupy solution seeming without consequence... can anyone tell me if there will or could be one later? It was thin enough to draw into a syringe so....

EDIT: Injected Saline solution to check for any blockage or difficulty in drawing blood and there wasn't one. I'm not sure if this matters or says anything but just thought I'de add some information..

Alright, I apologize for double posting, I'm just a little worried. So seeing as it's been a couple hours since, is that a good sign that I'm in the clear? Im, thinking it could cause a blood clot or worse hit my heart and do something terrible...

If you are seriously concerned that you may have injured yourself, you need to go see a physician. Most BL posters are just talented amateurs - and while we have a few members who are physicians, nurses, or health professionals, I doubt that any of them would try to make a diagnosis without seeing you in the flesh. We're a harm reduction board, not an emergency room: while I appreciate your concern, there really isn't a whole lot we can do for you other than offer advice for safer shooting methods in the future.

Thanks and not to be rude, but I don't understand why people on this message board feel the need to put their 2 cents in when it is not asked of them. If you can't answer the question I asked then either say so or don't say anything at all. I honestly feel insulted that you would think I'm stupid enough to be waiting around for a non-professional to answer a question rather than go to a doctor if it was something that I felt needed a professional. I just don't get why people like to be so condescending, like they know something I don't, for no reason.

^depends what the syrupy solution was. In general - thicker solutions can increase risk of vein damage. Injecting methadone syrup, for example, is a good way to wreck your veins.

Well, you posted the same question repeatedly, so presumably you were concerned about it. Of course, you also asked beforehand about shooting up the pill in question -- then shot it up before reading or using any of the advice offered. So it could well be I was just wasting my time and keystrokes trying to point out the obvious.

The point is that you have a medical issue: you shot up something dubious. What might happen ranges from "nothing at all" to "syrupy gel forms blood clot which travels to your brain and kills you." (with stops along the way for "lose digits to gas gangrene" and "oozing abscess"). It is definitely something which could have serious consequences, and you probably could benefit from an informed opinion.

My honest, non-medical advice: next time refrain from shooting up syrupy solutions. In the interim watch the injection site for the usual signs of redness, tenderness, etc.. And yes, you probably should see a doctor. If I had IVed the concoction you described, I would definitely seek medical assistance afterwards. Hopefully that proves a bit more useful to you.

To be honest, no one is going to be able to predict if you will end up with an injection complication or not.

In fact, if you did end up with an injection complication, it would be hard to tell what it was from, unless you do rotate your injection sites, and it is a localized problem to the injection site, which it may not necessarily end up being.

Therefore, people gave you their two cents because we don't want you left in the dark without an idea of what to expect. If you don't experience pain, inflammation, or a dull ache, there isn't likely anything to be wrong with you that we can predict or know of.

If there is a way to find out, without these obvious systems that you would encounter with 99% of injection complications, then you would need to go seek professional medical assistance.

Wait and see. Not much else you can do, and in truth, not much a doctor could do at the moment. To the author at the top of page 21.

Ok, thank you for your support and answer/advice. I see now that you were trying to help me rather than be a jerk . I apologize for going off on you :o. I actually went to the doctor today and I'm going to be going into rehab (wether it's going to be in or out patient treatment I have not decided yet) in the morning. I think it's time for me to cool it with the dope and start making some changes.

Anyways, the Doc said that I would have known right away if something was wrong and that I will be fine. Thank you Cap. H and Kenaz for your answers. Wish me luck because I'm going to need it. It's going to be a difficult trip but I think it's for the better. I'll be back soon. Thanks again for everything!:)

You're posting in an open Internet forum, by now you should know that all types are going to respond and with all types of personalities.

Personally, I think you could USE a bunch of jerk offs calling you an idiot for injecting something you knew could cause harm.

A little brow beating and humiliation might make someone think twice next time, who knows?

totally after the fact, since i did apologize to him, but whatever...

I'm glad to hear you are OK! Good luck with rehab too.

Quitting heroin can be really difficult but it's always possible.

I would definitely recommend outpatient Suboxone maintenance therapy if you can get on it, and if you have the will power to quit. This is how I quit and I am glad I made the call to get on Suboxone about 2+ years ago.

Yea I believe thats the route I'm going to go. I don't think I can handle going cold turkey in inpatient... But anyways, thank you! and I'm gonna stop filling up this thread with off topic posts :)

Best of luck! I know sometimes people can be harsh on Bluelight, but most of us really do want to help. And it sounds like your medical visit paid off: you not only have peace of mind about your health but a plan for your future as well. Keep us posted on how things go.

Thanks
My tap water gets extraordinarily hot. I've burnt myself a few times in the shower. So I usually just use that. The one time I cleaned the with IPA pad I got that small rash I took the picture of. It doesn't hurt or itch or anything. Just mentally it was really bothersome, thinking about whatever fillers were in the pills I shot and if they were gonna make me sick.

Does anyone think the rush from IV oxy is almost non-existent? I get high definitely, but the rush really isn't there. Maybe thats just the way it is if you have IV diluadid a lot, then shoot chiva a few times before ever trying IV oxy. I've done it 3 times and been really disappointed every time, I always end up snorting a couple after I shoot. Seems to help a little.

(Rash is gone now)

Hot tap water is more likely to contain bacteria and minerals than cold tap water. Over time, a hot water heater tank can and does accumulate minerals (esp. if u have hard water) which can change the ph of the water AND some hardy bacteria that don't die when the water is treated before it gets to your home breed and flourish in the extreme conditions of hot water heater tanks.

Any thoughts on the cleanliness of water through a tap filter, such as Britta? I've been kinda banking on the fact that they say it clears out 99% of all impurities. I've been injecting with it for over 6 months now and no problems to report... Yet!

Another thing I'm curious about is why blood color seems to change... Sometimes when I shoot the blood is a very robust red, and other times it's nearly black (and this is from the same vein, so there is no confusion with arteries).

It seems to be darker in the morning, and later in the day, when I'm more "up" and the heartbeat has been higher for many hours is when it seems more red.

Anyone know what causes this, or is it my imagination?

Water filters for drinking like Brita do NOT filter bacteria sufficient for injection use. Buy WFI (Water For Injection) water from a pharmacy or other supplier.

Really it depends on the general quality of the tap water where you are. Tap water in Melbourne (Aust) is pretty good quality - if it's filtered on top of that you will be pretty safe. Of course this will change if you don't change your filter regularly - old filters breed bacteria like crazy and you are on track for a dirty hit, or worse.

ALL tap water should be considered dirty if you intend to inject using it straight from the faucet.

If you can't get WFI, the next best thing is to filter your tap water using a 0.22 micron wheel filter. Even boiling the tap water for 20+ minutes is not good enough to sterilize it, but it would help get rid of some of the bacteria. If you then use a 0.22 micron wheel filter to filter the the boiled water it you should be as close as possible to being sterilized.

There is no way as of now to filter out viruses, even when using a 0.22 micron wheel filter. They [viruses] are too small.

If you really care about your veins and body test the Ph of the water before using it.

Just save yourself some time and buy a bottle of WFI. One bottle should last a while, and it is a lot cheaper than going to the ER for sepsis.

I realize a lot of people will not do all that just to get sterilized water. I know I didn't, when I was going through withdrawals and needed a shot ASAP. I just feel fortunate I never got a bad infection.
