Ok, so this is my second thread on here, I try really hard to be a helpful member of BL, so please don't flame me, and yes, I've searched the shit out of the forums, thoroughly read the IV Injection Megathread and other IV threads, and no matter what I do, I CAN'T HIT A VEIN.

This is being posted here because I hang out mostly in OD and I feel it will be received well. If it is not appropriate, move it please.

So I'm shooting 10mg IR Oxymorphone's (or trying to)
I filter well, have excellent higeine, use shitloads of alcohol swabs, etc...
I am super careful because my career CANNOT be jeopardized.

I have only ever hit once, and strangely enough, it was with a huge 5ml rig and 22g needle - that was my first time - beginners luck. After that I felt no real need to shoot anything and was fine taking my drugs orally or insuffulating them.

I became interested again in the process of trying to use less drug to get where I want to be (mainly for Pain Management, I know its fucked up but no matter what I do, my Dr. will not increase my dose and I am in constant pain)

So, I'm using BD ultra fine .5 mL 32 guage syringes. They are short. Could it be that they aren't long enough to hit? I mean my veins don't show like a bodybuilder or something, but they aren't that deep either.

Anyways I can't hit, so I'm wondering about Sub-Cutaneous injection (skin popping) or Intra-muscular injection. I know both carry more risks of abscesses, etc, but I'm not trying to make this an all-the-time thing. What do you esteemed members of BL think?

Again, I am asking only about injecting via these methods, so although I know they are well intentioned, please do not respond with tips about getting my veins to come to the surface, or about getting my PM doctor to increase my dose, or anything like that - Please just advice about injecting via these methods.

Thank You.

Shooting pills IM or SC isn't just more risk, its nearly a guaranteed abscess or other complications. If you are going to do this you absolutely have to micron filter but I still wouldn't endorse IM'ing or SC'ing pills even with .22u filters and perfect technique.

Alright, thank you.
I'll just fuckin stick to not ever shootin up. Probably better anyways.

Could the super short needles have something to do with it?

Get long needles I cant hit with shorts and I have been IVing for a while. If your tying off even using shorts I dont see how you cant hit I mean if I can do it in a moving car. Get some steril water and practice or something.

Use 1/2" needles. I believe 30 gauge is the smallest diameter for 1/2" but don't take my word on that.

They make 31-33G, 1/2" in a luer lock tip.

A 32G needle might be too fine, and might be causing your veins to roll.
A short tip may not be long enough, depending on how your veins are.

Can you feel and see your veins, or no?

The easiest spot for me is between my forearm and bicep, I've only missed a handful of times and that was due to rushing it when I was illin, if u can't hit there then u need a longer spike

I wouldn't endorse it either but I have certainly done it. Not often, either (less than a half dozen times so far).

Opana IR tablets do not have many inactive ingredients though.

Inactive Ingredients: lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, and pregelatinized starch.
The 5 mg tablets contain FD&C blue #2 aluminum lake.
The 10 mg tablets contain D&C red #30 aluminum lake.

I can think of a few probs

the 32g is RELALY small/easily clogged, hard to register with etc..

Also, if you dont have body builder beins, whivh I dont either, pretty much hae to use a 1/2"syringe to hit anything. the 5/16" suck, unless you are hitting your hand or something real close to the surface, even then its like if you have a 31g, its hard to register, pull back on the plunger. and to push the liquid in

my rig of choice is 28 or 29g 1cc 1/2" insulin syringe

I can barely see my veins at the crook in my arm.

Last time I tried I was tied off for a good 30 minutes while sitting in a hot bath and that brought one to the surface enough for me to feel a definite bulge where it was and to see the dark blue/ black oxygen poor blood. Alas, I couldn't hit, but where I had tried, there was a definite bead of blood coming out my arm - much different than when you poke yourself IM or whatever and hit the oxygen rich capillaries.

The thing with these shorties is that there is literally hundreds laying around my house not getting used (family member used to require them) and my only other easily accessible option is a 3mL rig with a 25g 1" long tip which is pretty much what I hit with my first time, but it's my understanding that that big of gauge will blow your veins if you make any sort of habit of it, correct?

thanks for the replies everyone, sometimes there is something you search and search for but nothing beats actually hearing opinions about your specific case.

Trying to lose all circulation? Why would you tie off so long? Just do the hot bath and do some forearm gripping excercises or bicep curls and if your veins STILL arent poppin, tie off.. but not for any extended period of time. You obviously need a helping hand.

no, not trying to lose all circulation, haha. I could feel my arteries pumping blood and my hand wasn't turning blue or anything, I was just trying to restrict the flow back to my heart a bit more.

Ah fuck it, maybe i'll just get a wetline put in.

Yeah, it really will. Using a 25G needle would probably blow my veins in one try, and I have decent veins to begin with.

If you didn't blow your veins from using a 25G, you are very fortunate.

The needles you're using are fine. Over time as you give this a shot you will figure it out. Tie off look for a bulgy vein push in at 45 degrees register untie push in slowly. There you go.

Just try the corner of your arm. If you can see the vein bulging then just go to that one.

Not that you should start shooting up though, its a fucking horrible thing to get addicted too.

Try the cephalic vein 4-5 inches from the base of your thumb on the inside fo your forearms. I am a little overweight and do not have much visible veins and I never miss. I wish I had bulging veins but it really doesnt present a problem for me. You just need to practice.

Do not IM pills or dope, its just begging fof an abscess.

I used the cephalic vein when I first started, it was not visible at all but that area would bulge when I tied off. I cant even see the vein but I can easily hit it even if I don't tie off on both arms.

Look at some diagrams, the fact that you can't se the veins in the crook of your elbow doesnt matter. All it takes is a few pokes to find one, then you will forever know where that vein is. I hit a vein in the crook of my elbow without tying off and I cant see shit there.

The only veins that are visible and naturally bulge for me are on my feet/hands, which I wil use once in a while. You can really only use 29g or smaller on them though (atleast for me).

Really though just look at some diagrams and get a shitload of needles so you are not re-inserting a dull needle 20 times whil you are practicing looking for a vein.

Like I said..I am kinda overweight and I still don't even have to tie off to hit shit (though I do tie off if I have time and a belt or tourniquet

Also, if you are using a 22g needle dont expect to hit shit, that will work on very few veins and be EXTREMELY easy to push too fast a blow a vein

Also, if you are not skinny/veins are not near the surface, 5/16th" needles may be too short. I religiously use 1/2"

The only thing 5/16 is good for for me is hands or feet.

In phlebotomy they use 25g butterfly, which is basically the smallest. Normally use 22 guage i think, possibly 23. and people's veins dont blow just like that.

If you used a hand/wrist/surface vein with something that large, it really would. You might be able to puncture your larger veins with such a huge gauge, but I wouldn't ever recommend doing that. :\

I checked one of the rigs from the pack that I got my one shot in with... it was actually a 22g. Yikes!
Anyways, no more stretching my PM meds since i'm getting on subutex pretty quickly here (hopefully).

Thank you everyone for the replies, CH or another mod, feel free to close this, or leave it open if you feel others will benefit from it.
