how long to kick in?

i was just wondering how long it takes coke to kick in i checked erowid but it didnt have any info on how long it takes to kick in

Route of administration (Ie how you're going to take it)

At a guess i'd say:

Intranasal (Snorted) - Less than 10 minutes. In most cases the time until onset will be less than 5 minutes however.

Intravenous (Injected into a vein) - Less than 30 seconds

Intramuscular (Injected into a muscle, not recomended at all due to unkown purity and sterility of street cocaine. Doing this is just asking for an abscess IMHO) - 3 minutes or less

Rectal (Putting it up your rear end, usually in solution) - About the same as intranasal

Inhalation (Freebase/crack cocaine) - Slightly faster than intravenous

Oral (Eating it, Highly ineffective due to cocaine's very low oral bioavailability) - Less than 30 minutes but can take up to an hour

Snorting, couple mins, IV couple secs, Oral half hour or more. Plugging, never tryed it so dont know.
 
Not a lot to say on this that hasn't already said, EXCEPT in the idea of harm reduction... Please, don't EVER eat cocaine. It will almost assuredly severely damage you, or worse.
 
If your seriously asking how long it takes to kick in then you obviously got some shitty coke.

Smoking actually hits your brain faster as the cocaine travels from your lungs into your heart then arteries and into the brain, about 7 seconds. Injecting IV it first goes from vein to heart then into lungs then back to heart and finally the arteries which take it to the brain about 14 seconds. The thing is you get the full dose when injecting, waay more than you can get in one hit.

I also noticed two things; first off injected coke takes a little longer for the rush to kick in than compared to heroin. Dope will give you a rush in about 10-15 seconds, usually just as soon as you pull the needle out whereas coke takes about twice as long. Have no idea what thats happens, probably the heroin is more lipid soluble so it crosses the blood brain barrier much quicker than coke does.

Right before the coke rush hits you I notice my tongue get real numb, my theory is that the tongue has a very dense network of arteries and nerves in it and the arteries leading to the brain pass the tongue first so the coke enters your tongue and because of the dense blood vessels that are so close to the nerves your tongue goes numb just a couple seconds before the rush begins. That’s one sure way of knowing that any second the rush is starting and the number your tongue gets the stronger the rush will be.

Sometimes I use something called a "marker" when shooting coke to let me know that I hit a vein. Since coke is numbing it may be hard to tell if you really hit the vein cause if you start missing you might not feel it cause it numbs the area so what I do is for the cotton to filter I rip a mall piece off a cigarette that I’ve already smoke so the filter smells like smoke. Its unhygienic I know but I know I hit because I’ll taste the cigarette before the rush begins, I’m sure there are other "markers" you can use that are safer than a used cigarette filter, but with coke you don't wanna miss no matter what so I’ll push like 10 units and wait a bit until I get the taste of smoke in my mouth then I’ll push the remained of the hit. You taste the smoke because what you shoot goes past your mouth and tongue before it hits your brain and you can usually get a slight taste. I'm ashamed to say this, but in my worst gutter drug abuse days i've shot using stuf like pepsi and ice tea cause ihad no water and i gotta say that i did thats the pepsi or whatever as well bfore the rush hit.

Coke definitely numbs your tongue, but heroin and other drugs shot IV should also cause you to taste them right before they hit your brain,.


PS- When i first started smoking coke i would fiend like a moutherfucker, doing carpet patrol and all that shit, it just straight up sucked. I only did coke if i had dope for the crash. Now after years of experience coke doesn't make me crash that hard or even close to that hard anymore. I have noticed one difference though, if i IV coke the fiending and the crah i get is ssignificantly less than i get from smoking it. ANd thats not jsut cause i'm shooting coke and smoking crack. I'll cook down a rock with vinegar and inject that and i'll shoot a full sawbuck rock and that will give me maybe only like 30% of the fiending i qwould get if i took just one hit off half that amount. I prefer top shoot coke these days just because of that reason, but by far and away the VERY WORST fiending crash I’ve ever felt was from IV'ing Ritalin. OH MY GOD, do not EVER do that unless you have some serious pharmaceuticals to help with the crash, I'm talking like a bar of Xanax you can take, and don't wait toil the crash take it right before you shoot so it kicks in the same time the crash does. The best drug for any crash of any stimulant is definitely some good opiates. Heroin, hydroco- and oxy-whatevewr drugs, those are the best for crases, but benzo's help as well.

PPS- I’ve never eaten coke, has anyone tried that here, how’s is that experience. I was in Amsterdam years ago and one head shot as selling capsules filled with powdered coca leaf that you eat so I bought some and took the recommended dosage and honestly as best as I can remember it was no more than drinking a good strong cup of coffee, though I might have been in a slightly elevated mood as well and there most definitely was nothing even remotely close to a crash. In Peru they chew the leaves with lime in order for the active alkaloids such as cocaine to be released and absorbed properly so I’m not sure if ingesting just the coca leaf even if ground up would even work without lime, but I do remember feel just the tiniest bit of a buzz when I took it, and the buzz was nothing reminiscent of coke at all.
