What's up everyone,

I posted a really scattered report in Trip Reports, but I could barely think at the time so it ended up getting closed. Since the trip I've felt more lost then anything and I'm trying to figure out why I'm feeling this way. The first time tripping left me feeling renewed and full of life. This trip left me feeling exhausted, anxious, and really lonely. I didn't have many visuals even though I took two blotters, more then anything I had a heavy body high and my mind was racing.

I'm sure in a few days I'll be all the way back, but it just scared me this time cause I really felt like this trip took me a few steps backwards while the first time it made me feel awesome and ready for whatever was coming my way next.

What do you guys think?

Is it just me fear-mongering or does it seem like this stuff happens more with LSD than mushrooms?

I've seen a few thread-starts like this recently. OP, eat healthy, get sleep, go with the flow as life is a trip in itself. If you're experiencing HPPD, or persisting visuals or anything, you could see a doctor.

I've had trips like that. The key is to just go on with life for a couple of weeks, then you'll realize what has been going on in your head and feel better.

Not a great answer, I know, but you'll survive this malaise. Just give it time.

Well it's weird because the first time I tripped I felt much different then I did this time. In the first hour I started to get really relaxed and mellow and almost sedated and then around the two hour mark I had visuals like everything was wavy. The first time my visuals were much more crisp and I was giggly and felt euphoric. I don't have any persisting visuals just the anxious and down feeling which I didn't have at all the first time. It was actually the exact opposite the first time.

Cool cool, thanks amigo.

Thanks you guys for info,

Yeah, i think its a sign from your subconciousness/body to focus on taking care of yourself. LSD can have that cathartic effect, and you should take this time to focus on your mental and physical health. Eat well, exercise, and relax. Ponder the experience and see if you learned anything from it too. Stay off drugs for a while too, and it should improve.

i was way more overwhelmed after the first time i did shrooms than the first time i did cid. shrooms were more of a mindfuck

Thanks Yuca, I appreciate the advice

Yea my first shroom trip was great at first, but there was an unexpected song on my playlist and I was tripping so hard at the time that I didn't realize it was the song that was tripping me out. It sent my trip into the red and it ended up being a really rough comedown.

In my experience, it's quite the opposite; mushrooms are far more prone to causing difficult trips, especially for novice trippers.

There's no need to start worrying about HPPD unless you've been sober for several weeks and still have visual distortions. Residual visual effects for a few days after a trip is nothing to worry about.

OP: there's not much we can tell you without some more info. Why don't you start by telling us about your second trip - what kind of set and setting you took it in, what you were expecting/hoping for going in, and what ended up happening. Generally speaking, when you have negative emotions like anxiety hanging around after a trip, it's often because the trip stirred up some personal issue that you haven't fully worked through. Did you feel the anxiety/loneliness/etc. during the trip? When did it start and how? Is it just a general anxious/lonely feeling, or are there specific thoughts that you keep having that are bringing on those feelings?

I think this is just a "rough" experience. Never go into a trip thinking that "it will go THIS way because last time..."

And never underestimate one of the most potent psychedelics out there. Don't let this discourage you, I believe that at some point, every seasoned tripper has had a few of these experiences.

Personally, I think something happened during the trip that is triggering your subconscious even in a sober state of mind.

Wait it out and you will feel better soon. Try to figure out what was going on inside you that provoked this.

Certain types of shroom seem to produce pretty dark trips IMO, mushrooms which have mainly 4-HO-DMT and it's phosphate ester as actives, have been the darkest psychedelics for me. P. semilanceata, which have very high baeocystin levels, are stronger and have a greater lucidity (sort of like LSD) and our thus easier in my book (easier than LSD).

So for my second trip I was planning to do it this upcoming Friday, but I got ancy and ended up taking the hits a few nights ago when I was with a few friends. We ended up going on a journey (my friend T drove us cause he was sober through the mountains and ended up at the beach in Santa Cruz).

I took the first hit at 11:30pm and waited an hour and didn't really feel very much other then a sedated feeling. At 12:20 I decided to take the second hit because I wasn't feeling very much. At about 12:45, T, B, and myself left to go drive cause they new I would be tripping. We hooked the ipod up to his stereo and let the tunes blare and cruised for a long time through the mountains. The weird part about this though was that I really didn't have clear visuals or distorted vision like my first time. We cruised all night and got to the beach when the beach was starting to light up. We grabbed a blanket and went and laid down on the beach and waited for the sun to come up. The sky was overcast so we weren't really able to see the sun come up, but it was cool being there when everything lit up. Listening to the waves crashing was super peaceful for the comedown. We chilled there for another half hour and then drove back cause I had work at 11:30.

I feel totally stupid for letting my impulses get the best of me, I should've waited.

That's really interesting to think about. Looking back I'm not really sure what it could've been that triggered the bad part. I think it could've been wanting to have a girlfriend with me, someone I could hold and enjoy the experience with. I've posted about this in other areas, but we broke up about two months ago and I thought I was over the bad part of the break up, but the lonely feelings seem like that's what made my comedown as bad as it was. Not having someone there I could openly show affection for could've done it I guess.

Thanks Amber,

Yea I've been running through it in my head a lot trying to figure this stuff out, it's just hard cause I've felt really mixed up since the trip. Everyday's a little better, but it's still there. No visuals, just mixed up thoughts.
