(CNN) -- A Pennsylvania man anticipating the birth of his child was caught smoking marijuana in a hospital parking lot, police said.

A nurse who was taking a smoking break smelled pot and notified security at Uniontown Hospital, according to reports. Hospital security notified the local police.

"I am having a baby, and I wanted to catch a buzz," the father told police officers.

wow those pigs took away something this father cant get back the birth of his child.... but then theres a place and time for everything and getting stoned during you childs birth is not the best idea... i wonder how the mother felt about this :X

Crazy isn't it. I can just see it. A slightly rowdy man, obviously a bit pissed already, cracking open a bottle of champagne outside the hospital, nurse glances over and says

"What's the occasion?"
"I'm having a baby"
"Oh congratulations, that's fantastic news"
 
omg- lets crucify and stone him. how dare he smoke a drug that is almost legal in pretty much 15 states for medicinal purposes and has never killed a person. why doesn't he go and smoke good old cigarettes or drink alcohol which kills more people than any illegal drugs. i am outraged. where you at tea party
 
Nurses should be hot & down to party with injectable shit they jack from their work, not lame hags (or worse, dudes) that snitch on people for smoking a joint.

i'd rather the nurse be in prison. her profession necessitates understanding the basics of pharmacology. she's obviously not qualified 8)

Joke will be on the nurse when they get cancer from the cigarette they're smoking, while said dad in question suffers no ill effects from smoking weed
 
It is sad, but at the same time I couldn't help but laugh because my best friend just had a baby with his fiance, and he and I were tokin' in the parking lot of the hospital before his baby girl was born.
 
A friend of mine was stoned at the birth of his child along with another friend of ours who was there with him, and coincidentally i was in a hotel room in san francisco tripping hard off of a few blotter when they called me with the good news. So i found this amusing, but idiotic considering he was smoking openly in a parking lot... At least get in your damn car to contain the smell like seriously. My friends were smoking when they got the call about his girlfriend going into labor so that was different. They didn't plan on being high it just happened, she had a very fast birthing process from onset of labor till birth.

he meant what a useless news story i believe. This is just about as news worthy as lindsay lohan going to a celebrity resort for 3 days of a 6 month sentence for some bullshit that happened 3 years ago anyway.

i find it funny that the nurse that reported him was also smoking a "drug", only her's was even worse and more DEADLY then what he was smoking...ironic that he gets arrested and not her.. stupid bitch
