I usually take 10mg Oxycodone liquid oral dose to manage my chronic pain but last night I took 12mg cause my pain was intense. Soon after I began to experience slowed heart rates, low blood pressure. When I measured my pulse it was 42 bpm whcih had me concerned because that is very low for me as my normal is around 75 bpm. I constantly felt like going to sleep but I tried not to because if my heart rate is 42bmp when I'm awake who knows what it will be when I'm asleep. Is this a valid concern ? If I had slept is there a chance my heart may have stopped?

I mean it sounds like a normal reaction. Sounds like you were just nodding out a bit. Find it interesting how 2mg can make that big of a difference though if you've never felt that before. I imagine it being very hard to actually O/D and die from 12mg regardless of tolerance.

2mg on top of 10mg is a %20 increase which can't just be ignored but I too am surprised.
edit: it is also a very valid concern as if your HR was that low barley enough blood is getting to your heart.

I guess I should have explained myself better, I didnt want too go in to too much detail about my medical condition as it may stray off topic but I have a Neurological Ilness known as Autonomic Dysfunction and I am hypersensitive to all psychoactive substances and have adverse reactions to all opiates, stimulants, sedatives, anelgesics and anything else that acts on my Autonomic Nervous System. It took me many months to desensitise myself to Oxycodone and had many ER visits in the process.
I am fine as long as I dont go above my regular dose but when I take a lil extra I often experience unusual side effcts that vary greatly, often causing increase in my blood pressure, fevers and many more sideffects but last nights reaction was very different, I didnt want to classify it as an adverse reaction because although I did have fevers and feeling unwell I believe the reduced heart rate and nodding feeling could very well be a normal reaction to higher doses.

I think it's a normal reaction to a large dose of oxycodone; for you, 12mg is a large dose. For most other people on Bluelight, they'll be puzzled by this as 12mg for them, would barely be enough to experience anything.
To be on the safe side, is there anyone who can watch over you just to make sure you'll keep breathing?

Ah I see. In that case yes it was a valid concern not to go to sleep. Although the bigger concern with opioids is usually hypoventilation rather than bradycardia, 42bpm is frankly just too low in my books.
As for your "usual" overdose effects being tachycardia, hypertension and fever I can't give a definite explanation. It could be triggered by a histamine release which occurs slightly above your regular dose and the opiate overdose symptoms don't occur until you get high enough, 12 mg apparently?

Im glad you responded Captain heroin because you know my case from past discussion and you are correct that that lower doses effects me exactly the same way as it would for someone who took a lot higher dose.
Amapola, yes if I am already desensitised then it takes higher doses to have such an effect but If I stop using opiates for a good 5 months and then suddenly take like 5mg then even that is enough to cause problems.
So basically your 30 mg is like my 10mg, The crazy thing is my tolerance goes up very slowly, I was on 8mg oxy for almost 1 year and then was sufficient for me, but since the pains worsened I worked my way up to 10mg

Trust me those are symptoms I battle with frequently some due to my Autonomic Dysfunction and the rest due to the countless adverse reactions I have had so I am a lot more familiar with those terms then I would have ever wished to be. But thank you for clarifying anyways.

Anyways regarding nodding it's a dose I prefer not to reach. I suppose most users build to the experience and can tell when it's a safe nod or a dangerous nod and fight to stay awake? The few times I've done it was more like a day dream I got caught up in and then suddenly kaboom it's 5 minutes later and "I'm like did I have my eyes open?" I've never noticed much of a varied HR either. I've had some cardio problems and am in touch as well. Definitely nothing that slow while I've been conscious. With respect to your condition though I suspect as you asked it is a normal reaction to a higher dose, just an overly large normal reaction.
I have to admit I have never considered the challenges of pain management with Autonomic Dysfunction and the ridiculously complex actions of opioids. I'll definitely be looking back through your previous posts you mentioned to Captain Heroin.
