update: woke up this morning and the redness in my arm has all but gone away. there is still a raised bump aprox 1/4th by 1/4th. it still hurts if i push on it. not quite sure what to do at this point. i started taking anti biotics 36 hours ago. maybe thats why its gotten a little better?
 
After my unfortunate artery injection last week, I am happy to report my hand and fingers are still here and are not yet gangrenous. Hurray!

Thanks for trying anyways, the information would help out the community but it's understandable that it's probably not easy to find. If you come across it, feel free to PM me, so I can add it to the aforementioned thread.

That's great jaystyle; I'm really happy for you. No one should have to lose any digits or limbs due to intravenous drug use.

Are you experiencing any pain/inflammation, or any other symptoms? Or has it completely cleared up?
 
update: went to the doctor today. he told me i either have 1) a small contained abcess or 2) i blew out my vain. i tend to think its a small abcess as i was only shooting 30u and i released the tie... but im not a medical professional so... whatever. told me to come back in 4 or 5 days and he will check it out again for me. gave me a script to new anti biotics. good times.

I'm sorry to hear that man; I'm not sure what scenario would be better but I know blowing your vein out sucks.

Whatever it is, I hope you have a speedy recovery.
 
Everything felt 90% fine after 12 hours, and 100% fine after 24 hours. I am fairly sure there is no residual inflammation, tingly feelings, circulation problems. Sometimes, I scare myself into feeling things but its probably just psychological.

Thanks for the well wishes--- I kind of wish I didnt' run to the ER because they didn't do anything but give me peace of mind lol and it'll cost a crapload. I guess the price of peace of mind is high, though.

EVERYONE be careful with those wretched arteries!!!!!!

I've got a bad habit of using dull needles. I have a pharmacy at the corner of my street, and when I have money I don't even think about buying points. I've got to SERIOUSLY make a serious stride in making this an important thing. Once I had a needle break off into my arm because it was so dull, and when I pulled back.. my hand and the sharp must of twisted, causing it to snap.

I usually ALWAYS rotate my shooting spots. It's hard, because you know that pretty thick vein will hit everytime. Believe me, after a while.. there will be so much scar tissue wrapped around that spot that it'll make a cracking sound when trying to hit it again. Or just plain collapse.

I received Hep C through a used needle, and I don't even know when exactly I got it. Please, everyone, no matter how many times you may bleach, clean, soak the sharp.. don't re-use. :(

yeah, i've been going back and fourth over it to be honest. im kinda pulling for a small contained abcess that does not have to be lanced.

If you are going to re-use an insulin syringe (not recommended, as you can see the diagram above, re-used needles dull exponentially quickly as they are reused again and again), then I would run water out of it post-use. When you want to re-use it, run isopropanol in and then out of it, followed by water in and out of it. You can do this once more (isopropanol and then water) - the water afterwards helps make sure there's no leftover isopropanol in your syringe.

Bleach can also clean out an insulin syringe, but I find isopropanol works fine.

If you can, please, use a new needle every time. Your veins will thank you in the long run.

Thanks for the advice but i do what i can as they are not always accessible to me...I live in SoFla..does anyone know of ANY needle exchange program...Can't seem to find any on the website??...Thanks Bella

It appears that there's a needle exchange in Georgia, but not Florida.

However when I visited Florida (not southern Florida though) the one pharmacy I stopped into easily sold me 100ct. insulin syringes without question. Have you tried going to the pharmacies in your area?

You can also order them online and have them shipped to your residence. :)
 
Captain.H - So, do u inject your subs for its maximum efficiency, or is it a affection for needles you can't give up on?

Does the IV of bup provide any kind of rush whatsoever? Is it noticeable when you push that plunger down that BUP is now instantly in your system?

Lastly--- do you micron filter each load? How much do you do?

Sorry for all the questions--- I just found it interesting that you IV Subs and wanted to know what your reason was and a little bit about it. Feel free to just answer some of these questions, if you dont wanna answer them all.

Sorry to hear about the Hep C. Did you get it even though you bleached your needles? Or did you slip a few times and re-use someone elses needle without washing?

Bleach doesn't necessarily kill the Hepatitis C virus. It's unknown at this time, but it's believed that it won't kill it. Bleach will kill the HIV virus if you expose it properly at least twice for 30 seconds + each time. You also need to fully rinse it out with water.

I no longer do H, but when I did I never had a problem getting any kind of syringe I wanted at Rite Aid Pharmacies. Give them a try. Just make sure you know what to ask for before you walk up to the counter. If you have tracks, cover them, just common sense.

It's not even worth trying any of the other pharmacies.
