Now What,screwed.

You aren't going to be watched. If your doctor is going to flip his shit over you choosing a prescription that is more affordable for you then you can tell him to go fuck himself and find yourself another doctor.

Filling those scripts early is what will and should get you in trouble, not asking for generics.

Most insurances allow early filling. It's if you have to get a Dr auth for early fill that you could raise red flags.

True bro, I'll tell ya.i'd love to tell him to fuck off.like I said, he really is a moody fuck. U see, he deals w/ghetto shit in the hood all the time.......He's a Christian Doctor, after seeing him, he prays over ya,,,but at times, hes a ravin lunatic, for real. Me finding another Dr would be difficult. The records would be sent and like I said, he has it documented that I was a drug abuser. One time, long ago I told him everything cuz I wanted help........that blackballed me forever. But on the other hand,I been on these for years and have a bad spine, chronic pain and a few back surgeries......the meds are justified imo....thanks fo the input!

Re

Thanks to all that replied..........Fuck it, I went and got the generics today....180 of them babies! Hes gunna order me the 10mg ir's..be in a few days. I paid 5 bucks w/ins. He said the reason the ins co gave it(filling) a hard time is cuz they cost them..$1,937.00....WOW!.....Now I gotta b careful and play the Dr's game...I'll "pacify" him hopefully.

Hey Mazzi, sorry for derailing your thread earlier, my bad! I read your posts, and you have similar background to myself. I also have a doc who is kind of a quack&in the ghetto, so he always worries about diversion and such. I would NOT WORRY about being watched for what happened, the DEA hass far better things to do, and it sounds like it was a very isolated incident for you. I also know how tough it can b finding new doc, its almost not worth headaches, especially when they're scripting u heavy duty pain meds. You always worry if next one will b willing to continue same type of treatment. I was a big drinker and blew mad lines, did e, and just about everything under the son after I got out of highschool, but like you said I also wanted to b honest w my doc, so I told him all about it. So not sure if it's in my files or not? I am also a disabled army vet with a f'd up back, and have a couple of botched surgeries and a binder full of x-rays and mri's to back it up. So at first my doc started me out w non-narcotic treatments(tylenol, advil,PT,epidurals, trigger point shots, excercise, etc., and tramadol) None of which helped much, so he then put me on 10mg vikes, and a few years down the road now I'm on some heavy duty meds myself. But it's what works, and I've proven to him I'm responsible. So as scary as it is, with your back, and your med history, I believe you are in a position of power to be involved in your treatment and what works best for you. If he gets mad at you for trying to fill w generics, or running out couple days early, he's the one being a little unreasonable. I don't know about you, butt I have my good and bad months, especially in winter when weather changes, so occassionally I'll run out of meds couple days early, and my doc is generally sympathetic, although when it happens back to back, he'll make me suffer for a couple days, which I do to prove I can. Of coures, I feel that is unethical by the docs, but I can see his point(he gives me a supply for x days, so it shouldn't be for y days) About your history, you can always say you were forced to self medicate yourself because you couldnt get help from docs, and if your back is bad, I'm sure that would make for a valid exscuse. Anyways, best of luck to you in whatever route you choose to go, I hope it works out for the best. And, have a pain free day, J

No Prob for derailing earlier... Yep, I hear all that. I have actually made an appt w/another Doc to see if he'll take over. He's a friend of mine's Dr. I got all the relevent documentation too. The Dr. thats giving me this hard time is also kinda far from where I live,so thats another valid reason...i cannot keep driving that far to see him. This Dr is close. They just put a damn Rod and 2 screws in my back in sept....in 08, they put 8 screws and a plate in my neck....wtf....thats all justification in my eyes. I got a question though re: opiates.......mind if I pm it to you? Gotta run out now, so when I get back.ok?

I got your pm Mazzi, if u don't mind I'm gonna friend u, u seem like cool guy. In regards to your message, don't stress it much, they can only get really accurate levels w blood and not urine. UA's are basically to see if your taking what your supposed to, and not smoking crack, lol! But do what I do, if I cut back because I had to at end of month(usually from having real bad pain at some point of month, and I'll take extra for a week or so), For 2-3 days before appointment I load up, like lots of extras, just in case they ever give me blood test, as far as urine test goes it only takes a day or so of double doses. AND MAKE SURE=2hrs before appointment take a double dose of everything! I deal w army and they are strict w drug tests, and this method has worked great for me for many years, so you should be fine. Sorry to hear about your back, sounds really painful and DEFINITELY SOLID REASON for your meds w/o having to deal w BS from Docs. That's also cool you found a closer doctor, mine is close too, so it's clutch if you have an emergency or a problem. I have a titanium plte fusing L1-L3 on my spine(2 many parachute landings, lol). I guess I cant pm until I'm a bluelighter, so sorry about this, tried to do it as low key as I could. I wish u well at next appointment and hope your back doesn't kill u 2 bad. Good to meet u and hope to chat again soon, J

Hey Mazzi, I act asked u a question on other thread, are there a lot of 80s still left near you, and if so are you close to Brooklyn(its where my fam lives and I go every couple weeks), if so I would have my doc write a 3 month script for me, and he would too, he realizes what crap new ones are! Sorry to b off topic, just curious, and are they Ethex brand? There are none left here in Boston!

I read both posts, I was looking for the pm but yep, guess ya cant send until bluelighter status.Anyway, thats pretty much basically what I thought.........I didnt think the UA would be that accurate. I think he thinnks I'm flippin them for $ for crack. So,he's gunna look for that (he wont find it)....done w.that shit!........Anyway,I'll take enuff to get a lot in my system a day or 2 b4 like u said. AS far as the 2nd question.....my last script(1 before this one) I got 120 60's>O-plastics.....that why I statrted hunting for the Generics. Seems that Walgreens up here has them...like I said, I got 180 80's..and yep, they r ethex.I dont know what kinda stock they have in their pharmacy...but for now, they r there bro.I changed my location on my profile but ...North of Brooklyn about 2.5 hrs...think in terms of the capital my friend.

Let me get this straight. He's been giving you 6 OC 60's a day, along with 12 oxy ir's a day. He must be a fucking idiot to give you a dose like that. I don't care what kind of pain you're in..........NO ONE and I mean not even cancer patients need that much oxy, unless you are abusing them.

As far as finding a new doctor. His first question will be and I quote "Who was the doctor prescribing your pain medicine before me?" and "Why aren't you seeing him anymore?" I you decide not to tell him and he is "normal" He wouldn't even think about giving you a dose even remotely close to the one you're currently on. If you do tell him and he is "normal" He will definately have to call you're previous doctor to verify what you're telling him is true.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news.

Why in god's name would you take Suboxone anyway???? It would block the effects of the oxy and make you so sick you would feel like jumping off a bridge.

O.K. What excuse did you tell the doc. for wanting generic OCs? I mean, they are much cheaper than the regular OCs. There are certainly valid reasons to request generics vs. name-brand.

And as to what the doc. is going to do with you. I believe he is planning to taper you off the Oxy., for good. I got a letter from my pain doc., stating the same shit, when Suboxone showed up in a UA, as opposed to the OC, which was supposed to be there.
Needless to say, I found another doc. And I believe you will need too, also.
But keep this in mind. The new doc. may or may not want to keep you at the current dose. My new doc. dropped me 120mg/day of Oxy. And there wasn't a thing I could do, but bitch.

So find a new doc., and from here on out, keep your mouth closed.

Best

It's sad that some medical professionals have the same view you do...

People can switch their Dr's. It's not that odd to go to another Dr. Additionally you can just take you medical records with you, tell your new Dr that you have personal problems with the old Dr, and I don't think they are going to call and check.

Fentanyl is the strongest pain medicine out there, plus it's very easy as you just stick the patch on you and change it in 1-3 days as instructed. I would definately give fent. a try, my friend.
Thank you for your service to our country.

Devil Dog, over and out.

Hey all, first post! Long time viewer first time poster, haha! I'm a disabled vet w a f'd up back and had great quality of life w oxycontin until they ruined it. Just started opana and I think it sucks, can anyone tell me some good alternatives, I take 30mg/3x day and it doesn't touch my pain. Should I just go with all 30mg roxi's or what? I could get fent. patch or mscontin, but new oxy is shit imo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hooah

It really wasn't my view. I was looking at it like a normal doctor would. It might just be in my area, but you really have to be dying to even get prescribed 1 - 40mg oxy a day. That's not an exaggeration either.

Ok, first of all, quite apparetly u have no idea wtf ur talking about. The dosage above as indicated IS correct , thats what was perscribed,By a Neurosurgeon...a very competent, cautious, surgeon. I just had a rod inserted in my back and a disc removed, w/multi-level DDD..(u know what that is?, i doubt it)...I will take my records and the bottled to the new Dr, If he does not agree to continue meds,I'll do what the other PCP whom perscribed the 180 OC's 6x's a day and gave me 120.10mg ox ir's...I dont know where ur from or what conditions u have..regardless, some people need these dosages for legitimate reasons..obviously u r not 1 of them

Re

Thanks Mazz, That method should do u just fine. I swer every doc thinks we sell meds for crack $,lol! I hav 2 deal w same from VA, but those UA's are basically just for that, although they can give an idea of whats in your system at time of test, so loadin up couple days b4, you'll b all good. I'm act goin now to pick up 120 40mg opanas, and they seem to get a total mixed reaction, some love em, some hate em, but apparently they r snortable. So at least its better than oxy poisons. So, mu=y doc said call him in a week, and if its not helping, he'll help me out, I'll try n have him call the Walgreens, cuz I swear they wont admit shit to patients, I called everywhere lookin 4 ethex! But one place slipped and said what dose, and stupidly I said 60's or 80's, shoulda just said 80s, and then all of a sudden "oh no more generics"! But from what i hear it's only a matter of time anyway, although it would b nice to find a 3 month supply of 80s, at least it would get me part way through winter when back is at worst, but we'll see, gonna give these opanas a try, technically they are quite powerful. And Mr. Right, Semper Fi, and thank you, fentanyl is mos def next on my hit list if the opanas shit the bed! So I've heard its similar to oxys, same family n such, so thank you for the advice! I'll probably be on it next week, lol! What would compare to 160mgs of opana, a 100mcg patch? Problem w that is my insurance only allows for 10 patches every 25 days and I have a tolerance like a horse! So I'm worried they may b tapped out after 2 days which will leave me short every month, but I haven't had it since army, so it may work just fine and its cheap thats why I dont get the QL. Anyways, thanks guys, hope you have pain free days, and I'll be on later to let u know about these opanas, I just blew through about 35-40 30mg roxi's last 2.5 days w/o la med, so I pray they work. Take care all.

I can tell u that I dont like Fent and have never takin Opana. At the last visit to my Dr, I casually mentioned Opana to him....told him I read about it and he said he had no prob switching me but that drug is funny, some it works for in lower dosages and others higher therefore, we'd have to exp, so to speak...I just said lets stick w/the OC...Of course this was at the visit and b4 all the bullshit that happened later.I suspect like they said, eventually all ethex will b gone too. I did a 60 O-Plstic earlier.25migs Ir's and just blew a 60 old oc...couple heinekens...back feelin ok..lol..........good luck pal
Mazz

Mister Right, lay off Mazz, his back is FUCKED UP just like mine. I am now on 120 40mg opanas and 120 30mg roxis /month, so my meds are very comparable to him. And I DO NOT ABUSE MY MEDS!! VA DRUG TESTS ME RANDOMLY AND I HAVE NEVER FAILED! He gets 6 oc 60's a day, I get 4 40mg opanas /day. Opana is considered 2x as powerful as oc(and I just took a couple and think its more than that, I took them regular, and I'm in NO PAIN RIGHT NOW) So for al pract. purposes, I get 4 80 ocs /day; 4x80=320/ Mazz gets 6x60=360. BT meds I get 4-6 30mg roxis/day so 120-180/day, and Mazz gets 12x5=60/day.....so my daily dose is actually higher than his, so if u shit on him, u shit on me. I, like Mazz I'm assuming has brain chem. that gives him naturally high tolerances for med just like I do. I also take benzos for PTSD, I take 6-8mg of Kolonopin/day, and 1-3 mg of xanax/day, both are high doses from what I understand? And I'm still only able to sleep 5-6hrs/night and still hav terrible night mares/wake up in cold sweats. I have been going to same docs for several years now, and they see me every 2-4 weeks between the 3 of them(pcp, back dr., and shrink). So, please dont use that cancer patient bs stereotype! I have had weeks of hell where I would have gladly traded my spine problems for cancer, as f'd up as that sounds its honest to God's truth! There are plenty of people w physical problems, esp.back, that have far more pain than any cancer patients.
What's depressing is that I'm only 34, and I try to lead a normal life as best I can, but even w my high doses of meds, I am still in a fairly good amount of pain for 75-80% of my daily life! I have to deal with that, because I am young and can't afford to just keep increasing meds, otherwise where will I be when I'm 50! I am forced to inhale pills some mornings because pain is so bad I cant stand w/o falling over! And I am a pussy when it comes to needles, so even though my dr has offered me injectable forms, I just cant bring myself to do it. This is why old oc was so great. It worked in 30-45 mins, and gave great relief, and in a pinch you could inhale them. Now they take 2-3 hrs b4 any relief, and although they finally last longer they are terrible in pain control and riddled with terrible side effects. So I am back to drawing board after gaining a fairly good quality of life from old ones after 3-4 years of using them. So, basically just dont jump so quickly to juge anyone like Mazz, he has more metal in his back than a scrapyard, and his pain is legit and he doesnt abuse his pills, in fact I think he tries to save some like I do for when pain bouts get REALLY BAD. I also got my conditions serving this country and protecting your ability to be able to voice your opinions on boards like this, so I would hate to be judged based on meds I take, esp. when people dont know all of the details behind my injuries, that's all. You seem like a pretty cool guy, so maybe you just made a slip in judgement, we all do it from time to time, but when you accused him of being a junkie, I honestly took it personal because I know Im on same type of doses as him, and this whole cancer bullshit has been created by drs so they can try and screw people in pain, its like it justifies things for them, when honestly, there are some far more painful conditions than cancer out there! Just take what I'm saying w a grain and think about it, and maybe you wont be under that brainwashed stigma that the only people who deserve pain control are cancer patients, everyone does! I esp. feel as though I deserve it as I got my problems fighting for our country, and its really sad bcuz lots of vets like myself receive such terrible care, which is truly tragic!

Thanks for all that defense BattleCo....u r 100% correct and he dont know wtf he's tal;king about. Thank You for serving our Country and its a shame u got injured doing so.I also am perscribed 1mg of xanax 3x;s a day by my shrink. In 05 I was nearly attacked by a group of scab workers,as I was a union rep @ the worksite. Therefore was diagnosed w/PTSD also. As well as major recurrent depression.I am 51 yrs old, forced to take a disability retirement after 25 yrs on the job. And have been on these meds for years and like u say, tolerance builds. Obviously that poster has no knowledge of this.U r also correct that I do try to "stockpile,so to speak the meds for the bad day...as some r worse than others...and yeah. ocassionally, I snort em too....does that make me a junkie......wtf, I never stuck a needle in my arms in 51 years and i'm not about to.
Thanks for ur support..
Peace

I have found that in my area, none of the pain docs will see me because they either specialize in back pain or they are more like pain counselors whose mission it is to get young people off drugs and help them cope with pain mentally, essentially letting you suffer in agony without a shred of compassion.

Unlike some of you I dont have any history of drug addiction. Ive smoked pot, experimented with psychedelics when I was younger, and was really into natural herbal drugs more than anything, but I found that the natural stuff just didnt cut it when my problems got serious....Dietary therapy is still important to me though.

Anyway, among other things, I have Crohns disease and have scarring in my gallbladder causing billiary dyskenesia. I have the pain of gallstones but without stones. It also causes pancreatitis, which apparently can be more painful than childbirth, but I experience it up to 6x a day on top of the chronic gallstone like pain. Surgery might be an option, but if they are wrong my pain will get worse, forever.

I also have MS and am a cancer survivor......I dont 'look' sick though. MS is not currently active, Crohns is invisible, and I am still fairly muscular and outwardly healthy when Im not throwing up blood. My appearance doesnt earn me any additional sympathy unfortunately, and my gallbladder issue didnt show up on a CT scan (Heida is needed, sometimes ultrasound) so the ER thought I was bullshitting. Good thing I have an excellent GI doc. He supports me and writes letters for me to give to my prescribing doctors.

My GP recently almost killed me by prescribing me Methadone by not adjusting for incomplete tolerance and cumulative effects of long half life......I went from about 150-180mg daily of combined Morphine/Oxycodone to 60mg daily Methadone + 60mg oxycodone....by the end of day 2 it started adding up and I became paralyzed and scared of death for over 12 hours, fighting to stay awake.

I reduced my dosage to 20mg daily and still had so little pain that I only used 15mg to 30mg of oxycodone daily. Its really good for pain, but there are some concerns about my liver as I am taking a very toxic immune suppressant for my auto-immune conditions.

Oxycontin time release is out. Morphine isnt very useful....I get 2 intense hours, kind of "high", then it quickly becomes ineffective even though they call it an 8-12 dose....yeah right. If I take more though the peak is too intense, and I DO need to function. Watching my daughter and being alert is a higher priority than getting buzzed.

Sometimes I try using marijuana with morphine, and that helps me deal with pain. I can lower my dosage combining it with weed and make the fast acting medication stretch farther, but its not always appropriate and sometimes gives me anxiety.

Im thinking about switching to Opana, as they have an assistance program, and my insurance absolutely will not cover brand name drugs.....maybe a 40% reimbursement, but thats hundreds or thousands out of pocket per month. Opana however has patient assistance.

Fentanyl makes me agitated and not fun to be around.
Morphine is ineffective.
Methadone is toxic, but works wonders for pain.
Hydromorphone is the MOST effective for pain, but only available in the US in a fast acting?

Im not sure what else is there?

The just released a new extended-release hydromorphone in the US called Exalgo. Here is the website to it: http://www.exalgo.com/

Also what type of immuno-suppressant do you take? My guess is methotrexate, I have to take it when my psoriatic arthritis flares up, even though I really fucking hate it.

Hey Mazz no worries, I got ya back! :) I took offense cuz I know how bad your back is and I know mine! Plus, I'm so sick of people thinkin they know more than docs as far as doses! AND the whole cancer thing, if I hear it 1 more time I may go rumblin down I95 w my m-4 just blowin everything away, lol, JK JK JK!!!!
Thanks for the info, what is that pharm, and are they ethex and will they have them for a little bit? I didnt think ethex made a 60? Did u switch to 80s? Anyways, these opanas are pretty damn good, I totally took too much! Nodded off all afternoon! :p So there is def sumthin to them, I'd have to agree w people that like em, so if it holds up for more than few days I may just switch permanently!
And you can snort em, and they blow oc80's AWAY!!! I felt obligated to give them my full research today, hence me noddin off all afternoon,;lol! But being able to insulfate is key for really bad pain, esp. if u hate needles like me. I only prob sniff 15/120 in a month, like I said for when pain really gets ahead, that's why old oc's are the bomb. Anyways, no prob about defense, I think Mr. Right was WRONG, but coulda just been honest mistake, too many people dont understand what we go through, so hopefully he'll make a retraction. And thank you for message, its a hell of a drive, but if I can get 3 months it may b worth it next time I go to Brooklyn. Have a great, pain free night, your bud, Jackson

That pharm is a walgreens and they r ethex but ur right...from what ive read they do not make a 60mg...everything other dose but that.I hear OPana is better/stronger anyway.I did swithch to 80's so that pharm is great at this time anyway..I think once there gone...there gone...Best of luck to ya
