this seriously makes me question the state of pharmacy studies in australia
From the sounds of things, i am willing to bet my left testicle it's Lorazepam, or something very similar. Without boring you with the chemistry of it all, Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine drug, which is a muscle relaxant and a sedative, as well as an amnesic. Basically, it switches off your short term memory, so you can't remember anything after 10 seconds, whilst at the same time, keeping you completely relaxed. This is administered with an anaesthetic to numb the pain. It's basically the next best thing to giving you a general anaesthetic, which carries bad side effects, which i'm guessing, you already have expierienced. Before you ask, no, you can't get a perscription from your doctor for it, it's very strictly regulated, and almost nearly impossible to get off the streets. Hope this helped.

Australia's views on drugs is completely different from Americas, as stated, you can't get Lorazepam from doctors, and Ketamine is strictly only for Vetinary practise, so the only time Ketamine is used medically is on dogs and cats when they go under the knife, not on humans. You guys will be so suprised at how tightly drugs are regulated here in Australia, for example (actually, you will probably laugh lol)
we don't have Nyquil D, or anything that closely resembles it
there is a complete ban on all pseudoephedrine drugs in Australia, you can't even get it prescribed to you any more
if you wanna buy drugs from the pharmacist, whether it be codeine, or even panadol (acetaminophen) you actually have to have a one - on - one discussion with your pharmacist as to why you want the drug, and if they think that your not going to use the drug for the reason you've given, they can refuse to sell it to you
Doctors cannot (well, are no supposed to) perscribe anti depressants of any sorts, you have to go to a psychiatrist, who will have sessions with you before determining whether or not to give you drugs, but a lot of doctors turn a blind eye to that
and finally...last year they banned the sales of bongs, pipes, hookahs, or any other drug - using equipment
and finally, i can only go on my knowledge of what drugs are used in Australia, and going by what you've told me, in Australia that would have most likely been used on you. I didn't see the part where you said "it wasn't like a benzo or opiate" so my apologises on that
