Now What,screwed.

I'm a chronic pain sufferer.Had numerous back surgeries,last 1 Sept 2010. Have been on OC and Oxy for years.My surgeon gave me a 2 week supply of 60mg OC ..180,6 a day and 5mg oxy ir ,12 a day-180. He gave me these until I was able to see my PCP who wold then perscribe. Anyway,I got in a few days ahead of time to see the PCP......He gave me 180 OC 80's and 180 10mg,oxy ir.......well, the trouble is I went to fill them and the insurance co. wouldn't. So, I called the insurance and they said that the last pharmacy put the last scripts thru as a 30 day supply. I called them and got it straightened out,but heres the problem. I want the "Generic OC" That is only avail at a particular pharmacy. I called them and asked if they had it in stock and asked ...like a fool.... and asked the MFG/distributor,just to be sure......when I turned in the script,they called my DR.and told him. I know that sent red flags up. And it was still to early to fill.My DR.Called me and blew a fuse.....made all kind of accusations and said he will no longer write OC for me. He is making me now see him every 2 weeks and he's gunna count the pills and urine test me.He said he will gradually get me off this med. But another prob is...in a few days I will be able to fill the 80's generically,but once thats done...i dont know if i'll be able to fill the 10mg oxy ir as its the same medication.Although different dosage,i dont know if the ins.co. will allow it....any thoughts? Also,if the DR is gunna take me gradually off these meds, what am I gunna do about pain control. What aF**ked up situation i;m in. Maybe he'll be willing to switch me to Opana or something else...any 1 have any thoughts on this....aside from the obvious(I should have taken as perscribed and never called that pharmacy)

yeah, you messed up. he'll only switch you to opana if he is an idiot. go to a different pharmacy and fill the contin and the IRs at the same time, once your 30 days is clear so your insurance will be fine with it.

O.K. What excuse did you tell the doc. for wanting generic OCs? I mean, they are much cheaper than the regular OCs. There are certainly valid reasons to request generics vs. name-brand.

And as to what the doc. is going to do with you. I believe he is planning to taper you off the Oxy., for good. I got a letter from my pain doc., stating the same shit, when Suboxone showed up in a UA, as opposed to the OC, which was supposed to be there.
Needless to say, I found another doc. And I believe you will need too, also.
But keep this in mind. The new doc. may or may not want to keep you at the current dose. My new doc. dropped me 120mg/day of Oxy. And there wasn't a thing I could do, but bitch.

So find a new doc., and from here on out, keep your mouth closed.

So your doc cut you off for wanting generic, cheaper medication? Wow I'm glad I'm in pain management in Canada, the US and it's doctors are totally opiate fucked now a days, I feel bad for you guys...
 
^no, if he would have done it right he would have been fine. it's the same co-pay either way because it's covered by his insurance. he should have made it sound like out of principle, he wanted a generic.
 
Thanks everbody.Yeah, I mighta F'd it up but that is what I told the DR when he called...I said Generics were cheaper and thats what I wanted.He didnt buy it. He said."something is fishy" end quote.....I been on these for years and I have no idea why he thought that(yeah,I did ask the pharmacy)...but i never gave him any other reason to distrust me. He does know that I am a former crack abuser...but i got 1 yr clean from that drug and he knows it. I suspect,from the way he acted that he thinks i'm sellin pills to get money for crack....which I AM NOT. Hydroaz...ur right i think, i'm just gunna fill the OC(have to take the new OP's) and the IR's at a diff drug store. Look, NObody wants the new formulated OC,it does suck and no u cant fu** w/it ,but once in a while i did like to sn**t some OC....but to save all this sh*t...I might just get em filled they way they were written.....nonetheless, to The above poster...yep, hes gunna taper me and cut me off. I fuc'd this good thing up....but like I said, I do need pain meds......he knows Fent patches ,i dont like and cant handle........so..ur right....find a new DR. But thats e=zr said than done, at least where Im from
 
Tell your doctor that you heard that people were having all kinds of problems on the new OC formulation ... Or say you thought the generic would be cheaper. I personally would go with *I thought figured generic would be cheaper...."

With doctors you have to play stupid as fuck... so play stupid and then let them think you're in control. I hope you haven't told your dr anything else. I'd play the "I normally get generic everything as it's cheaper" card... Good luck. Or find a different dr.

*If you have done NOTHING to make him not trust you... then you need to have a LONG talk with him.. ask him if he has a personal problem with you.. ect"...

Believe I would get on my knees and BEG, before I gave up on this doc. I mean the dosage he has you at will be hard to duplicate, at another doc., IMO.
As Violenza said, I would probably take the position of financial advantage of generic vs. brand, and STICK to this reason for requesting generic, NO MATTER WHAT!

I hear ya all.....That was the reason I Gave him.....Cheaper generics. I told him I went to my usual pharmacy and they did not have that quantity in stock,so I went home ,looked on the internet and came across some information about generic OC.I told him I wasnt aware they made this and therefore I called the pharmacy to inquire.They said yes,they did and it was in stock. U See, that was the first question he banged me with...."U give me 1 good reason why u called that pharmacy"...thats what he asked........and that was what I told him...Generics....Since it was too early to fill them, he thought I used up all the other scripts I had and was abusing or flipping them. I actually had the remaining ones in the bottles with me to show him(he actually called me to the office..he didnt call me by phone).....but as I went to show him the remainder,he stormed outta the room. He can b a tempremental fuck sometimes.He is moody..perhaps in time, he'll lighten up...I been thru a lot surgically lately and he knows it and knows I need pain control.

NO, Thats not correct.....there IS a diff.In the co-pay......generics are like $5....name brand(OC) are $ 15....
 
^oh. then sounds like you have a good reason. but I imagine the varies from insurance provider to insurance provider, as well as different plans.
 
Hey all, first post! Long time viewer first time poster, haha! I'm a disabled vet w a f'd up back and had great quality of life w oxycontin until they ruined it. Just started opana and I think it sucks, can anyone tell me some good alternatives, I take 30mg/3x day and it doesn't touch my pain. Should I just go with all 30mg roxi's or what? I could get fent. patch or mscontin, but new oxy is shit imo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hooah

you probably should make a seperate thread, however, roxi's would be instant release and may help, I find morphine ineffective
 
On this topic though, is THERE ANY WAY to get old oc formula. Can you order from Canada? Or does Purdue offer them if Dr calls, and is there really an ethex generic that's in kahoots w Perdue, any info would be great.

Yes,it prob does vary...thats just the case w/my ins.carrier. Today is the day the scripts can b filled.i'm paranoid......dunno whether to go get the generics or ,like u said...take both scripts to a diff pharm.and just fill em..I'm thinkin if I go get the generics they'll call law enf or something and i'll be watched.I dont do anything illegal so it doesnt matter but i still dont like that...maybe that unrealistic, i'm not sure. IT does piss me off though,it's my money,my body,my pain, should b my choice. My DR.made more outta this than he needed to...I think all in all..i'll just go get the OP's and the 10mg IR's........in a month see what happened w/the doc
