Khat

what regions of the world does khat naturaly grow in?? honest question, id highly assume South america, like all other good e'rbs

What about bongs? So I dont have to use this coke can or old gatorade bottle and hose?

Or a crack pipe so I dont have to keep injecting my meth?

What about drugs/supplements that help you quit drugs? like phenibut

^ yep, unless you could prove some serious harm reduction value associated with the speciifcs of sourcing corn, then it would be against the guidelines. Sources for drug-use paraphenalia are also out with the exception of specific things like clean syringes, wheel filters etc. Sources for supplements are similarly not allowed. Feel free to discuss their uses, benefits, etc to your heart's content though.

If you disagree with the guidelines then you can feel free to present your case to the BL senior staff :) There was an AusDD suggestions for improvements discussion thread not to long ago that's probably still kicking around?

The guidelines are there for various reasons. To maintain the integrity of the forum, keep topics oriented in the right direction and focused on harm reduction, and believe it or not for the protection of Bluelighters. In my opinion, not being able to discuss drug prices, sources, availability etc is a small & worthwhile price to pay to be a part of this forum.

Sorry, didn't realise you couldn't even talk about sourcing legal things. I'll remember that when the discussion of nutmeg comes up! :)

I've tried 3 types of khat in my life,
my first experience with Khat was 4 years ago, I was sold a capsule which the guy said was 'Khat', it had little dark brown and tan balls in there and told absolutely not to snort it. It was a large 800mg capsule~. I got a very strong amphetamine like buzz from it, dance nonstop for ~6hours before a nasty crash and not being able to sleep for about 36hours.

Second time I had khat, it was sold as Qat and was a white powder in a capsule which were 120mg each. Had an extremely strong odor and gave a nasty drip in the nose when snorted which would make me almost vomit quite a bit. Gave a really nice clean amphetamine like buzz without the jitters or sketchiness. Was one of my favorite's to take for a while before it went out of fashion. The high only lasted about ~4hours. Test kits did not respond to the contents of the capsules but source said it was Methcathinone. (I have never had 4-mmc so can not say if it was actually 4-mmc or not. My assumption is that it wasnt mephedrone because it was sold as Qat and was in 2006-2007)

Third play on Khat was from fresh leaves from the narrow and vanilla white strain mixed together. Was only about 8leaves from a young 2 year old plant. Got a small buzz bit stronger then caffine (i have high tollerence to caffine, get next to no stimulation from it, so can't really compare it to khat). It helpt me study and such, but because the plant was so young I can't really comment on how good the buzz is until I come accross a more mature plant wiht decent mouth full of leaves. All I can say was that the leaves were not sweet at all from the narrow leaf, they are infact extremely bitter!

That first 'Khat' I tried, the small brown and tan balls in capsule, was probably the stronger and most fun buzz I have ever had. I have always wondered what it actually was, wether it was khat leaves dried or not? I know nobody here can really tell me and it's against the rules, but i've never come accross anything like it before or since! Anyone else? I miss it, it was amazing.

That sounds like meth.

That sounds just like 4-MMC

It's Vienna White. The newer leaves contain the highest content of actives.

I actually bought 2 plants online and they arrived in little tubes through the post, this was about a year ago. I have mine in pots and they are doing pretty well. I live in a frost area so during winter keep them protected under other shrubs.

I think they do come from Africa so dont mind drying out a little.

Have to admit I am yet to even try them! Did a lot of reading when I first got them and I was lead to believe they are hard to grow from cuttings.

To consume I am meant to pick the new reddish shoots off and they say put a few in your mouth and chew.. then when they are well chewed keep them in the side of your cheek and keep adding to the orriginal bit.

I should get plucking as I know that will encourage regrowth.. but scared I will kill them too.

They are extremely easy to grow from cuttings.

The levels of alkaloids in the leaves are supposed to be stronger early in the morning.

Let me guess, Melbourne?

The taxi drivers down there have always tried to sell me Khat. Ten years ago I was ignorant and thought the guy was chewing Cannabis leaf, called him out over it and he explained to me what Khat was. That was when I started to become enlightened.

Canberra actually, I would have been as ignorant of it as you had I not watched a documentary the night previous. Strange how things come to together...

First up, Khat tastes like shit. Like eating grass or a leaf from a tree - it tastes organic and bitter. To get high from it, you need to eat a lot. It usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour of chewing it to start getting a real buzz. Always pick the smallest, harder leaves, which have a darkish red color. Avoid the big green leaves until the very end. Although they tell you to keep it in your mouth, its not really pleasent or possible for a long period, so you have to kind of swallow bits. I advise you to chew with a drink on hand! Coke is really good for getting rid of the bitterness.

Effects (of course this is entirely subjective): you do get a decent buzz out of it, but not like amphetatime/cocaine - its more a mental stimulation, where your brain is kind of racing, but it doesn't really make you get up and dance! Its traditionally chewed in afternoon hang outs with a big shisha pipe with friends. Or for studying the koran all day. Your call.

With Khat, freshness is very important. I am guessing the East African community in Australia are growing it in small quantities here, because importation in time (ie 1 day after picking is ideal) would be difficult.
Khat is one of Ethiopia's biggest exports - they grow it and ship it to Yemen and Saudia Arabaia - planes fly every day with fresh khat, and trucks go through somalia and djibouti to ship it out.

If you are wondering I lived in a part of the world where khat was common for a while, and got some tips from the locals.

Ok I thought I'd chime in since I've had quite a bit with Qat in Perth.

Starting from cuttings I managed to grow a pretty large narrow-leaved plant here. It is not particularly fast growing, it took me a few years to get it to a decent size (2m). That was in a pot, since I was renting at the time. I would expect much better results if planting in the ground.

Regular pruning(!) encourages a bushy growth. Apparently these things can develop into full trees, although mine never got given the chance. Too much pruning.

As for the effects, they are good but subtle. I had quite a few sessions where me and my mates chewed our way through pretty large amounts. It creeps up on you. By the time we noticed it, we were nicely stimulated. This was usually mixed with copious amounts of booze. The residual effects could still be felt in the morning, in the form of the absence of any hangover. Coffee on top the next day seemed to synergise quite nicely.

A worthwhile plant to grow in my opinion.

I had a Khat tree once, but due to years of neglect, it died, and so I'm stuck with no fresh cathinone...
