Can opiates help benzo withdrawal

i know this sounds backwards because i know people usualy take benzos for opate withdrawal but people have been telling me that since i am starting methadone and will probably be gettin a buzz from it as they up my dose to 80 mg 50-50 gets me nodding after a week on it) that i could probably go off my klonopin and not really notice the withdawls . i have been on klonopin for about 3 months 1mg 3 times a day
 
sounds like your WD wont be very bad...... lowish dose.......

just taper and stop, methadone will help slightly.....

should be easy.......
 
I know a couple people from the done clinic I used to go to that went on methadone specifically for benzo WD. I watched them go from absolute wrecks to happy and functional within weeks of getting off the benzos and on the done...
 
sorry Captain didnt know...............anyway am i allowed to ask how long it may take for klonopin metabolites to be eliminated from my body if ive been on 3 mg a day for 2-3 months ? i know theres no one answer but im guessing at least 2 weeks ?
 
just tryin to stay on my methadone program (they dont allow benzos) . i don want to do heroin anymore
 
"The reason opiates affect us so powerfully is that they bind to the same receptors as our natural opiods, decreasing GABA and increasing Dopamine. In addition, three kinds of receptors that open the ion channels to reduce the excitability of the neurons are widely distributed throughout the brain (mu, delta, and kappa receptors). This reduced excitability is partially the source of euphoria experienced by opiates. But the euphoric effect also appears to involve GABA, the inhibitory neurotransmitter. When opiates attach to the GABA receptor, they reduce the amount of GABA released. Normally, GABA reduces the amount of dopamine released, but by reducing the amount of GABA, opiates actually increase the amount of dopamine, and therefore the amount of pleasure felt."
 
I tried taking significant amounts of Oxycodone to ward off the effects of Alprazolam (Xanax) withdrawal. Needless to say, it didn't work out very well at all. I wasn't able to sleep, I developed tremors, anxiety (although the Oxycodone helped somewhat with that), my mind was racing, I started sweating. I also ended up experiencing paranoia. So definitely no in my books.
 
in my experience they help to a point, they just make it easier for me to take the lowest possible dose, I'd still be a wreck on opiates if I cold turkeyed my Klonopin.
 
Benzo withdrawal is a bitch. Just thinking about it makes me want to dose again on my Xanax. Many people will tell you that for them it's worse than opiate/opioid withdrawal. You'd think that a high enough dosage of a strong opiate/opioid would overpower the withdrawal symptoms of a benzo but I've never personally been successful going that route.
 
if only i was sure K pin didnt show up on the clinic tests..............i keep hearing that from ppl but dont wanna risk it.

ya me either.....infact that can be very bad.............
