Opioids Hydromorphone/Dilaudid- Worth Doing if Using Safe Alternatives to IV?

I tried to frame this in the most HR-related sense I could think of, and I apologize if this is BDD- feel free to move.

This has been covered a lot, but people have answered it both ways, so I'm asking again.

Lots of people say it's not worth doing dilaudid unless you do it IV. Then again, I see people talking about snorting, eating, etc. all the time. A friend of mine (seriously not me- I would never shoot anything) just got some of these and appealed to my (apparently) greater drug knowledge as to what to do with them. Should I tell this person it's not worth doing unless you IV, or can I recommend a safer ROA that will still provide decent results? I have no clue- I've never done hydromorphone, and I've never shot anything. Any advice is appreciated.

It's not that it's worthless when taken via ROA other than IV, but the bioavailability drastically increases when taken IV, so it's more a matter of other opiates are much better suited to being snorted or just being eaten such as Oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc. compared to how little of the drug you will actually get when you take Hydromorphone any other way than IV.

That being said, if you take the right precautions in being sterile and use proper IV technique, the IV ROA is just as safe if not more safe than any other ROA.

plus there pretty safe and wayy easy to shoot if ur only doing it once in awhile. idk people made such a big deal outta iv dilaudid. are you supposed to heat? or just use warm water right? is there any difference if you shoot in a hand vein or one on your arm?

I'd tell your friend to snort it. It may not provide the god-like rush IV does, but it lasts longer and does provide a solid high. With IV the chances of ODing, getting an infection, absess, etc are always present, even in experienced users. A shot of hydromorphone is supposed to be heavenly, but the rush lasts minutes and decent effects follow for half an hour. Insufflating hydromorphone gives the user a very good high for a couple of hours, does not carry many of the risks of IVing, and IMO is less addictive (it is still very addictive, but any high that is like a shot of heaven that lasts a short period of time is going to be very tempting for the user to recreate - quickly!

I snorted hydromorphone for years without getting physically addicted until after the second full year(but at that point I was using all types of opiates/opioids), but I have only shot an 8mg dilaudid on two separate occassions. I had high hopes, but despite a perfect register and hit with no swelling I seriously would have snorted it instead had I the chance to redo it.

Hope this helps!

yea i snorted dillyz for awhile and when i first iv'd it, with a perfect register like u said, i didnt feel tha rush. i mean warm and high but no rush

I've never done Dilaudid myself, but the attitude you mention comes from how once someone's shot Dilaudid, nothing else is going to look "worth it" in comparison and at the street prices that might be aimed at IV users.

Safer RoAs with higher BA than oral and faster onset are plugging and sniffing. Sublingual, theoretically, would be better than oral in both regards because it also bypasses first-pass metabolism, but I don't know how bad hydromorphone tastes. Maybe, since there's only 2mg-8mg in the tablets, the taste wouldn't be much of a probelm.

And, of course, it should still be very nice orally, just not relative to other high-tier opies or faster RoAs. Most reports I've seen suggest that oral hydromorph has less nausea and itchiness than equivalent amount of oral morphine, but a few users still put stuff like oral hydrocodone above it in terms of quality of euphoria

To answer your questions....

You are NOT supposed to heat it. it will dissolve in any temp. water.

You can use ANY temp. water but warm water will aid in the dissolving process.

You are more safe shooting in veins between your elbow and shoulder.

why answer if u havnt tried it? well ur right cuz once u iv one 4 mg dilaudid you will have to snort about 3 to get the same affect so it seems a waste. snortings or pluggings wayy better than oral if u dont iv. or just eat it if u dont wanna get high. lol

Because I've spent enough years reading both credible research and the actual users' reports and discussions on Erowid, Bluelight, and 420chan. Nothing I told him required my having done Dilaudid. I'm just a drug nerd, and as long as I'm being accurate, I don't mind talking with people about drugs I haven't done. Since no one else mentioned the sublingual route, I did have something to offer.

%) Or maybe it's the Adderall in my nose and gut.

ohh ive never tried sublinqual but my mom gives me abunch of these cuz she gets around 160 a month. she used to make me take them orally in front of her but i always put it under my tongue and didnt swallow it. then later i would snort it. haha.

this is true....

you could snort em to

^No, that is not true. You can substantially decrease the risk with proper technique and taking precautions but there is no way to make intravenous injection of pills safer than taking them orally.
