so I drove home from school for a 7-day fall break. I passed countless state troopers and various jurisdiction police and sheriffs along the 215 mile ride with no incident. Towards the end of the ride, I cross into my home county's lines. Less than 30 seconds after crossing into my county I get pulled over by one of my county's sheriffs.

The reason: a single air freshener dangling from my rear-view mirror

The outcome: $150 ticket for expired emissions registration, 7 minutes in the cold while a K9 called to the the site ran around my car with its handler obviously trying to get it to "hit" by banging his hand over every inch of my car as he ran around with his bitch of a dog, 30 minutes in the back of a cruiser while an entire squadron shows up to tear apart the inside of my car, and then a 4 minute ride to my house with my car looking like I had stored hurricane katrina in there for the past 3 years.

I'm filing a fucking complaint. Since when is it a moving violation to have an air freshener, and even if that is part of the typical profile of a drug user and/or trafficker, it's illegal to pull a person over on the sole basis of a profile (like, unconstitutional-illegal). I'm talking to my lawyer first thing on Monday and I'm hoping to God that I might have a potential lawsuit on my hands.



p.s. there were no drugs in the car, and there hasn't been in roughly a month and a half

tl;dr Fuck Charles County, Maryland Sheriff's Office.
