Opioids OxyCodone Allergy??

First off, I was a vicious Oxy addict for over 5 years. Some days I would snort up to 10 80's a day if I was able to obtain them. Roxy's were or no real use to me because of the smaller size. My nose was always incredibly roughed-up, but I could always snort things up into it, regardless of the pain from all of the splits and scabs. I had a 14 month break when I went to prison, then a little rehab. When I came home, I got back on suboxone to help curb appetite from being home. Well anyway I occasionally use oxy, Was the old OC's, but now its Roxy's here and there. Here is what now happens after my initial line or two within a few seconds.
My nose totally goes crazy.
It clogs the whole way up, to the point where it almost feels like my adenoids swell to completely close my nasal passages.
Once it is clogged, it begins to drip out of the front, a liquid-like snot.
It takes almost an hour before i can either sniff up through, or just decide to blow it out and lose material.
Now it has done this with both the old OC and Roxy, but the strange part is, When I plug oxy of any type, I get the same clogging effect, but a little less severe. There is also no dripping from front when plugged.
That is actually how I can tell that the buzz is coming, when my sinuses or what have you begin to tighten after a large 160 mg or so plugg.

Has anyone ever experienced this, and if so do you know any remedy? Chances are it is just an allergy I developed of some sort. Or a physical change in my olfactories due to years of heavy drug use with total disregard to my health.

i've honestly not a clue why it might be happening as i have little knowledge on oxycodone allergies. it may be allergies perhaps, so maybe an antihistamine before you dose will help solve this.

otherwise finding another drug to use would be the wise option if you can't find a solution.

I've found that i sometimes get swollen feet after IV'ing 120+. when i've dosed high orally, 150mg for instance, i've noticed slight swelling around my ankles sometimes. might be a good idea to try and get MS or HM

i;m a bit curious to this myself.... do i have an allergic reaction to oxycodone at high doses?

sorry i cant be of anyhelp, but the swollen feet thing has only happened 3 or 4 times and usually i wouldn't be dosing 150mg of OC at once

^perhaps that may be a histamine reaction, which is similar in ways to a histamine release.

try taking 50mg of dyphenhydramine (2 benedryl) and see if that helps if it doesn't then it may be that you've abused those drugs so much that you're sufferring side effects

I have used both benadryl and vistiril before as a potentiator with the same results. I guess i should have added that from the start, as I am a big believer in potentiation.

Since it still seems to occur in the presence of antihistamines, it makes it unlikely that its an actual allergic reaction. I'd say it might be the result of years of insufflation, where the oxycodone acts as a conditioned stimulus to trigger mucus production in your nose.

As a psychology geek, this makes me wonder whether the reaction occurs as a response to something being insufflated versus the oxycodone itself. Taking an appropriate oral dose and monitoring your reaction might be a good test for this.

Why bother to crush up and snort oxycodone?

It works fine orally, and it lasts longer..

I snort other things quite frequently, but none react like the oxy does. The uniqueness off the problem led me to post. I was hoping for someone to say..."yea, me too", but what good would that do for me anyway? "I Just don't wanna be alone...." :::sobbing hysterically::: HeHE...HaHA....

I read this yesterday and my first thought upon hearing your symptoms was "This does not sound like an allergy, but simple classical conditioning" but when I tried to type up a response explaining the rationale I didn't think I conveyed it well at all but dokomo very eloquently expressed what I had hoped to but was unable to.

After I typed it I was thinking that since my primary field of interest/study is psychology that perhaps I was projecting a psychological solution but the more I examine alternatives and consider possibilities like allergies, the more I think dokomo is spot on.

This was my initial thought too but the OP said he experiences the same effect when plugging which leads me to believe that the conditioned stimulus isn't the insufflation, but the actual effects of the oxycodone... the damage/irritation caused his extensive history of insufflating oxy creates an association with the high.

Thus, the conditioned stimulus of the oxy high leads to the conditioned response of the increased mucosal production which would explain how this response occurs only with oxy and regardless of route of administration.
