Need more proof that California's marijuana legalization proposition is gaining mainstream traction? Look no further than West Hollywood, where a group of mothers from A New PATH (Parents for Addiction Treatment and Healing) are campaigning in support of Proposition 19.

According to ABC News, the mothers believe that legalizing pot with cut down on gang violence by eliminating the black market for the drug. At the same time, taxing marijuana could create much-needed economic resources for state schools.

The moms aren't alone in their support, of course--the Service Employees International Union also supports the measure on the grounds that revenues from marijuana sales will support jobs. And a recent Eyewitness News SurveyUSA poll shows that 48% of respondents plan to vote for the measure, while 44% expect to vote against it. In total, Prop. 19 has received $2,418,651 in donations--and just $213,000 have gone towards opposing the measure.

Legalizing marijuana would make it much easier for teens to obtain because it would make it cheaper and more available. It would make it so much easier for anyone over the age of 21 to start dealing to teens. The black market would become a teenage black market. ...But I'm OK with that.

everything seems to boil down to the teen black market. I've had kids hit me up to buy them ciggies. I've had kids hit me up to get them some beer. Kids are in the market to buy whatEVEr they can get their goofy little hands on. imo.

Just brilliant to see these American mothers standing in front of children in play parks saying "LEGALIZE WEED". Now for the rest of the world to catch on..

I disagree, I'm 17 and mephedrone is much easier to obtain now that it's illegal. It's always been easier to buy cannabis than alcohol or tobacco.

I completly agree, before I was legal age, it was much easier to get pot, like much much much easier than it was to get alcohol or smokes, hell it was even easier to get mushrooms,e,coke, acid, just about any illegal drug than it was to get the legal ones, so many kids in big citys could find really pure heroin easier than they could get a pint of vodka, theres always gonna be a teenage black market for any substance legal or illegal, but if its legal it will be harder for them to get.
