i leave to l.a at 8 am...thanks to craigslist and rideshare, i have all my rides planned out..im staying the night in san francisco tonight , friday, ill be there for one night unless its amazing, then im going to portland for 2 nights, then seattle..... shoot me over some tips on what to do in each of these places, whats cool, what places to go...maybe one of you bluelighters has a shower to offer considering ill be homeless most of the trip. im bringing my bmx bike and a back pack... im pretty easy to get a long with...

also, why not respond with some hitchhiking experiences if you had them. either hitchhiking yourself, or picking up hitchhikers....

i woke up thursday morning, telling myself i had to go take a picture of the space needle. it was a random idea. i spent all day planning and networking, now its a reality for me, 10 day road trip, for the sole purpose of having an epic as adventure and getting away from the heat... also, if anyone wants to join along the way, why the fuck not?

Yah I posted a similar thread, I saw the north american drug discussion after my first post, figured more americans might see the thread here..I was wrong. My bad.

Hitchhiking the 101 north thru california along the coast through san fran to eureka to cresent city up through oregon to astoria to washington is EPIC. Easiest and prettiest route in the USA. you will meet some great trippy hippies and have lots of company..its the hitchhiking superhighway, especially up around eureka through humboldt county and the REDWOODS. Beauty oh beauty. Hva efun.....<3

i have never hitch hiked or picked a hitcher up. bout the closest i came was running out of gas and someone picked me up on the walk back to the car. was only like a mile but still was very nice of them ppl to do that. i dunno i guess it has it risk hitching. remember george carlin said in jay and silent bob movie you must give head to the driver no matter what

this seems like a great adventure and an extremely cool experience, any literature i can read about doing this and any details and such?

A good friend of mine is doing something similar, starting on the east coast and eventually heading all over the country. I would have loved to have gone with him but I can't leave my job. What a slave I have become, when did I get so responsible? Long gone are the days of saying fuck you and quitting because I had something more fun planned to fill up my schedule. Have a great time

i can't even count the number of times i've hitch hiked. they were all within my city tho, and it usually involved me trying to find a ride home completely wasted or really blazed. i have so many interesting stories lol.

read only the intro and the first sentence and have to say good for you.
People like me can only dream of traveling around.
Being stuck in an appartment is no way to live but my personal problems keep me here..
Love hearin about people that can travel.
always wanted to be one of those people that just get up and go and hang out in hostils etc...
Dont know if this is even relevant as i said i read practically nuthing on this thread..
Just like to pat people on the back that can travel around the world or states etc ,seeing as im from canada...so many states so little provinces....

Hope your trip is going well, be safe!

I hitchhiked once through www.pickuppal.com just to try it out and save train money. He was a science-y hippy type that was going to visit his fiancee (they went to different universities). I have a car now so it isn't necessary but it was a good experience overall.

Hope you made it safe!! been a while since you posted...let us know how you are doing; I live right outside of seattle, so if you wanna get together, hit me up!!!

If you are in Nor Cali and you get picked up by an old man with a full head of white hair and driving a white Lincoln...

that is my father. He picks up hitchhikers ALL the time when he is just out for a joy ride.

He is hoping to have someone try to fuck him up one of these times. He is a retired LAPD cop and he misses shooting people.
