Making a psychedelic bedroom.

I live in a house where the landlord dosn't really mind if we do things like rip up carpets and paint the walls. I want to take full advantage of this and turn my bedroom into a tripping den. Right now the idea is to paint one wall with flowers/nature and the opposite one with a sort of octupus's garden/ under the sea theme, another one with sunshine/rainbows/sky, the last one I want stars/planets and night sky. Other ideas I have are lava lamps and coloured fairy lights.
My questions are... Anyone know where I can buy some trippy decorations and a bedspread of blanket and pillow cases? And does anyone have any more ideas for things I can do for this room?
 
somehow i doubt that will work. If its anything like dry ice in water it'll bubble a bit but nothing more than that, it might manage to paint a 20cm circle around the paint can (if that) but i highly doubt it would do any more than that

Have you ever seen a real pressure explosion? If its done correctly(never done it with dry ice, just seen the results)it should cover a fair portion of the wall(you can't just blow up one can and expect it to cover everything, it might take 35 but then you have 35 layers of neon color). Also dry ice produces a damn good amount of co2 when its touched to water so you must have seen a very small amount of it. Either way you could rig a real pressure explosion to do this even if the first plan doesn't work. Dangerous though.
 
I think perhaps Mr. White hadn't realized your plan involved leaving the lid on the paint container.
 
i though you meant with the lid off haha

Not sure if it would paint the whole room but you'd certainly get some nice jackson pollock action happening
 
Lava lamp: check. :)

Get yourself a plasma ball. The lightning effect is nice, and you can surprise people who've never touched one. :D

Find some curtains with a complex, stylised floral pattern.

OMG, install a blacklight. Paint an image on one wall with UV-reactive paint. Then, paint your skin "black" with sunscreen.
 
lol one of my friends said its exhausting getting your groove on in a tempur pedic bed cuz it just absorbs all your momentum...
 
I say get high on psychedelics and paint your room, try finger painting it it will be super fun trust me. I made my room psychedelic through my collection of unique posters and art.
 
Tie Dye. Make some elaborately detailed tie dye sheets and hang on the wall...some black lights and a few of those LED color change thingies with glass globes or crystals on the lens.

Xmas tree light strings (random blinking) behind some furniture ... casts some trippy color shadows on the wall and ceiling.

I've done that before to my friends wall... Amazing fun... we only had 2 blues and a grey though so wasn't as good as it could have been.
I want maybe a little more control over this.. might start it first and then add detail while i'm tripping, or I normally draw or paint when I'm coming down... so :)

Can't wait till uni finishes and I have time to do this =D
 
The problem as I see it is that any room that you're in every day - no matter how trippy - is still going to be limited in its effects on you while tripping. You'll just be too familiar with it.

Ideally I'd love to have a spare room that I only use when tripping, that way it will be like stepping into another world. But of course not many people just have a spare room in their house or apartment that they can _never_ go in.

That is my goal though :D

Maybe a good compromise would be to create and buy lots of trippy things to put in your room that can be packed away when not tripping so you don't get familiar with it.

I.e. a regular bedroom. Then, depending on the come-up time of your psych, either bring out the decorations as you're coming up or just before you take it.

Ideally, having someone else to put up all the decorations for you without you watching the process would be best. It's all about unfamiliarity as far as I'm concerned!
 
Why don't you decorate your room WHILE tripping? Then it will remind you of awesome times when you're sober and when you trip next. You could add to it as you go along, or maybe design your themed walls roughly with a pencil on the walls when you're fucked, then touch them up sober.
