Does anyone believe Boise state should be ranked #3?

they're ranked #4 now. Oregon jumped them in the newest version of the rankings.

if it were up to me, I would have them ranked around #8-10. this might be a little harsh, but they haven't proved much to me yet

fwiw I do believe that they get a little bit screwed from the BCS.

it pains me to watch sub-par conferences get an automatic bid when I think that Boise State could probably handle whichever teams ends up winning the Big East

Yeah they have talent/heart/good coaching/ a sweet gimmicky field but without the SOS the BCS computers are going to chew them up and spit them out. Could you only imagine if they played Bama lol

Boise State should absolutely not be able to play in the title game this year. They just barely slid by a Virginia Tech team that lost to a football subdivision team the next week. I think the term "overrated" applies quite well to them.

Given, I like the way they play football and they have a hell of a coach, they still do not deserve to coast into a title game when others play a much tougher schedule then they do.

it's really tough to say how good they are. no one can say that they suck, that is ludicrous. they play smart and tough on the defensive side and their QB also plays like he knows what he is doing. someone said "Peyton Manning of college football" on TV but I think that is too bold of a statement.

I wish that they played somebody with a little more talent. it would be nice to see them go against two solid Pac-10 teams in Oregon and Stanford. they are close, good, and two very different types of animals. but it never is any good to sit here and twiddle your dick with "what-ifs."

they could very well be in the National Championship game. I don't know if OSU has what it takes from what I've seen of them. they rely too much on Pryor and can't run the football. Oregon could lose to a team like USC (even though they ain't that good no more)

Boise State is a very good team. But they don't play anybody. Even if Va Tech was undefeated, minus the loss to BSU, you can't reward a team for playing two BCS teams a year (Oregon State is decent, but hardly a BCS contender) and then playing cupcakes the rest of the year.
If they hate it so much, go independent and schedule who you want Boise. And I know they are going to the Mountain West, which is better, and probably should get the automatic nod over the Big East, but when your conference schedule next year will include the likes of San Diego State, Wyoming, and New Mexico to name a few, I'm sorry but you haven't proven anything to anybody.

And before someone cites the Oklahoma game in 2006 as making BSU worthy, let me remind everyone it is much easier to get up for 1 tough game a year than 6 or 7 like you would have in the Big 10, SEC, PAC 10, Big 12. And people can argue that BSU would run the table in any of those conferences (which is laughable), but until they do my opinion isn't going to change.

Sorry Boise, your conference sucks, and your smurf turf is ridiculous!

this is a very good point, and something that I have thought about a lot.

it is easy to get riled up for one big game. case in point, OSU this year. they got up hard against Miami but then sort of struggles two games past against Illinois. I know this is for a myriad of reasons (Ill plays OSU tough, Zook knows OSU very well), but it is easy to get up for one game and then have a hangover the next and under perform.

SEC folks I'm sure know what we are trying to say here

I'd like to see Boise get the chance to compete for the BCS title, because this is probably the best team they have ever had, just for a measuring factor for the future....if they play tough or win, then they should be seriously considered for the nat'l championship game each year, if they get blown out, good bye future chances unless they schedule and defeat at least 3 contenders.

I do think they are a top 5 team, suddenly that Oregon State win looks a lot better.

I say why not? At least BSU brings some excitement to the table during the BCS games. Does no one else remember that crazy Fiesta Bowl a few years back when they beat Oklahoma with Adrian Peterson? There is nothing worse than watching Ohio State get pummeled every year (yes, I'm a fan) by a faster SEC team for the championship. Give them a chance. I think if you go undefeated and win your conference then your school should have a shot over another school that "lost a fluke game" to XYZ School of the Blind in the rain. I guess the best outcome for BSU is if they run the table, beat Nevada (who clobbered Cal by the way) and someone ahead of them loses a game. Otherwise, just get rid of the BCS and go to a playoff system because this whole letting computers and homer coaches decide who plays in the big games is wearing thin. Other divisions in the NCAA do playoffs, why not D1?

As a caveat, this year is actually a bit of a down year overall in CFB. USC is on probation. Florida is looking to replace Tebow. And Notre Dame still sucks (wait, that's actually a good thing ;))! Texas is retooling. Oklahoma isnt as good. Ohio State.....will probably choke in a big game. And yet, the Pac-10 is pretty good with USC out of the BCS discussion. Yeah, this is an odd year for college football.

I hate how people still think OSU is going to choke in the big games. they were quite competent in the bowl games, they just had a two year stretch where they simply got torched (Gaytors) and then didn't truly deserve to be their (Tigers). this is a whole new Buckeyes team the last two years.

case in point, last years Rose Bowl with OSU VS Oregon. everybody thought that the Ducks would scorch the Bucks with their intense offensive schemes, yet the Buckeyes proved that Oregon has not played a defense as talented as theirs.

saying the Buckeyes are going to choke is just a cop out

LMAO, all I will say is 0 and 9

0-9 against the sec in bowl games...so whats your point?

Somehow OSU's bowl record (not all time record ftr) against teams in the SEC means that it's automatic they will lose every single bowl game for the rest of history right?

Some of the logic people use on here is pitiful.

How was Tennessee doing again this year? Or how did they do last year? lmao

shit let the haters hate.

I'll be riding the Terrelle Pryor train all the way to the National Championship

The same Duck team who lost to BSU earlier in the year? ;)

I get what you are saying and OSU has to win the big one without any "fluke penalties" and over a legit D1 team in the national championship. Until then, all the "experts" will keep chirping on them. I have a feeling that no matter who they beat there will always be some kind of make up for why and how they won. For some reason, Ohio St is not sexy enough to win for anyone outside Ohio.

I hope you are right.

the Ducks may have lost to BSU during their first game of the year last year, but I don't think non-Ohio State fans understand the love Buckeyes fans have for the Rose Bowl. tOSU is a school inundated with tradition. the Rose Bowl is perhaps the most tradition-laden bowl a team could go in, and serves second fiddle to the National Championship.

lately, the Buckeyes have been skipping the Rose Bowl because they have been shooting straight to the National Championship. I've definitely missed the Rose Bowl. there is nothing quite like it in the BCS bowl season

^This game is a perfect example of why Boise doesn't deserve to play in the NC game. The comparison of their SOS to the other conferences is just ridiculous. Kellan Moore might be a pretty good quarterback, but what is the best defense we have seen him against? How can we fairly judge?
