Over 2 months I have tapered my dose of oxy ir from 160mg a day down to my current dose of 20 mg a day. Once I got down to about 40 mg a day I started really feeling the withdrawal. I have had every symptom I have heard of. I have stuck to my taper but my stomach has been cramping for 5 days now. I feel like at this point is is a slow torture. At some point I have to stop all together and my doc has pretty much let me decide how slowly I taper. I really need some opinions here from people who have been there or are there! The way I have been taking the pills are 2.5mg/5mg/5mg/7.5mg in that order from morning to night. I always snorted them till I started to get off. I havent been able to keep the pills down due to all kinds of crazy stomach problems so I have been snorting them again. I really dont know what to do. I have came so far I just cant fuck it up! Should I stop at this point or keep weaning down? Your opinions would be appreciated.

if it is really worth it deal with the bullshit for 3 days and say fuck it..its not like alcohol or benzos...you wont die..only chance you have or dying is if you get back on it

I am amazed at your ability to control your opiate addiction so well. I definitely would not have been able to wean down from 160mg of oxy/day to only 20mg's. I know that the withdrawals you must be feeling are horrible. Allthough, shouldnt every day get a little bit better as your body gets more and more adjusted to taking smaller and smaller amounts of oxy?

I would hope that by now your brain has starting producing more dopamine than it use to while you were taking alot of oxy, which replaced your brains need to produce as many dopamine receptors and dopamine "particles". This is a slow process but your brain IS recovering even though you probably feel like shit. And since you have gotten this far, I think it would be a shame to give up now.

In my experience, if I quit cold turkey, the worst of the withdrawals are over by the evening of the third day. But since you are doig a taper instead of cold turkey, it will take a little more time for you to get over that "hump"....but once you do get over that hump and realize, "hey!....im starting to feel better!.....im over the worst of it!"....it becomes MUCH easier to stick the plan and finish out the rest of the taper.

Also....since you are doing this all on your own and are tapering off with no real medicinal intervention you might want to just try to go back to living a drug free life once your comletely off(obviously). But keep in mind that some people need medications such as suboxone to keep them relapsing and to help them adjust to living a life without getting high all the time. i personally reccommend suboxone and think that if you are interested in it, you shoul go to a sub doctor and see what he/she has to say. Even if you are only taking 0.5 mg's of suboxone a day, it not only keeps you from having withdrawals, but it gives you energy, improves your mood, and can even give you slight euphoric buzzes that help you keep your mind off of using oxy angain.

Good luck

if i recall correctly, didnt u already post this thread

Yea I think your right......if its the same OP that im thinking of, the mods have been bitching at him non stop for double/triple posting threads, as well as posting rediculous threads. I could be wrong though.....but im still pretty sure this guy has allready posted this thread before.

I kind of thought that on the lower doses I would feel better everday too. My stomach has went fucking crazy the last 6 days. I havent controlled my opiate addiction that well. But thanks for the compliment. I have slipped a couple times. And I would not be suprised if I have posted some variation of this before. I have been in withdrawal for a month now and think about how it might be better to just stop. The days and nights have all kind of mixed together so I apologize if I posted this before and any future repeats I may do. I am a father of 3. Really the only reason I tapered to begin with is so I could still function while getting off the oxy. I am thinking about sending the kids to their moms for a week and just stopping. I am fucking miserable everyday. I would rather just take the 3 days of shit on the chin and get it over with. I apologize for the long posts or anything else stupid I do on here. I dont know a single person that has ever done opiates and tried to stop. They either have never done them, or are using and have no intention on stopping. So the advice or opinions or whatever you guys have given me has helped. Thanks

just get on suboxone man. so you can live your life and take care of your family. It gives you time to work out your addiction problems while not having to worry about wihtdrawal. You can also wean off of it slowly in the end with no withdrawals if done properly.

ok so I understand that this is ment to be a post to help the guy out but. I dont think this is a idea you should b saying to people. yes you find suboxone to be good and a positive thing in your life, but most people who are not on the stuff veiw it as another methadone or something that is just like getting high everday anyway.. and with someone who has a tolerance that is only snorting 160 mg of oc a day suboxone will get that person extremely high off a half tablet I know this because subs got me high while snorting 240 a day..

I think if this guy has the ability to go from 160 to 20 mg a day we should all tell him the answer to the question he asked. Which is he should come off oxys as soon as he doesn't feel sick from 20 mg a day. So he should keep taking 20 mg a day untill he feels normal and then jump off. and if he wanted he could keep droping the dose but either way he will prolly have the same withdrawls.

HE will feel sick for 5-7 days untill he has detoxed then life will be doable and then he will feel weird and unlike himself for 2-3weeks but after that month he will feel 100 % the only issue will be that he will crave oxy. but if he is able to drop from 160 to 20 he clearly has the will to not do it.

Instead of telling him this you told him an answer that is not an answer to the question he asked. The answer you gave him is also one that is not good for him it would in the end bring him more harm and problems. aka All the costs of the doctor and filling scripts. and then he would have to go through withdrawls for months like methadone. Ill be it the withdrawls are Not as bad as oxys.but they are soo much fucking shortter and in sooo many peoples mind they wished they had just bit the bullet and jumped off heroin or oxys.. if you dont buy what im saying then here www.subsux.com

In MY mind suboxone is for people who can not get clean and have not given it a try and there best effort in every way they no how. pretty much if he is able to drop his dose and has the power to do as he says he has. why on gods green earth would u suggest he get on something that only lengthens how long the withdrawls are and how long he will b hooked on opiates...

anyway you know how i feel. and I hope you do what I said and just jump off the oxys as soon as you feel normal on the 20 mg a day dose this will just make the withdrawls a little better then when coming straight off something as high as u were before.. I wish the best for you and everyone... And I am sorry for getting mad at you james but I just dont agree with someone offering up something like that when I wish everyday That I had just gotten off heroin instead of making my life so intertwined with fucking subutex. PAWS are sooo much worse then just kicking.. And i was shooting a gram of day of super nice powder.. now im playing the sub game and never really feel good and Will have PAWS For months after getting off subs ... subsux.com =====subsux.com

and you can look at this page to see what i said about withdrawls and the cycle of how long and what you will have happen.. just give it a look if your serious about quiting it will put a good time line on it and if u have any quesitons just post them on this thread and ill get back to u here http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=527774

I hope these things have helped you and what ever you do dont. "just get on suboxone"// its a cop out and its one that really fucks ur life up more then it was while on drugs in a weird sorta way...

Yeah I am not gonna take methadone or suboxone. Trading one fucking addiction for another. If I did roughly say the same shit in 2 different post I fucking apologized. My mind is not exactly at its peek. And I dont even know what you are talking about with ridiculous posts or any mods bitching at me. I am just new to the site and wanna get clean and I dont fucking know anyone who has ever gotten clean.

Its good that you are choosing to be clean from all opiates. i hope you are able to do that on your own. Its just, most people find it too difficult to quit using so they need the help of medication to get them through it.

I dont like people thinking of switching to suboxone as simply moving from one addiction to another. I was a massive heroin addict for several years and suboxone saved my life. Im also not addicted to it. I now take it because it gives me energy and euphoria, also, it acts as an anti-depressant. But I guarantee you that I DID NOT switch one addiction for another. you just have to actually know what you are doing when you start taking a medication such as suboxone. If you take it correctly, and wean off correctly, you will not be addicted to it. I take it every day and get nice euphoric benefits from it, and it prevented me from having WD's when I switched from heroin....and yet I also take breaks from it whenever I feel like it without hvaing any withdrawal symptoms. Ill take anywhere from a 2 day break, to a 15 day break, and not once have I had "urges" or "wd's". Its just that I actually did ALOT of research into suboxone before I took it, so I knew to start at a low dose, and quickly taper down to an even lower dose before I got "addicted" to high doses. And it has worked perfectly.

Good luck.

methadone IS trading an addiction for another

but if u cant get off ur DOC opiate by ur self

suboxone is a life saver

cuz u wean down, and u can wean down quickly...

but no matter what (if u get WDs as it is) u will always go thru SOME WDs while weaning off of anything

that "might" be true, but if it is, there are many scenarios where the WD's you go through are so mild, they are no different than the pains a person experiences on a day to day basis....therefore, nothing to be too conerned about....and especially nothing to be considered an addiction.

but, I really dont believe that is true for everyone. If you do enough research, you can use your knowledge to taper correctly where you have zero withdrawl. Like me, I have managed to do this with suboxone....which is supposedly notorious for its long horrible WD's.

But I do realize that not everyone takes the time to figure out the best method to taper, therefore alot of people force themselves to deal with bad WD symptoms. And of course, some peoples WD symptoms are unavoidable in certain situations, depending on the drug, etc...

Most people cant stop on their own. I went from 160mg a day oxy habit and had a 100mcg fentanyl patch on to no patch and 20mg a day of oxy in 2 months. Most people probably cant d
PHP:
o that. I dont want to take any rx pills. Suboxone was brought up already, I did my research as well and I have chosen not to take it. I just wanted opinions if I should stop after 20mg or go down to 10mg then stop?

I understand your choice to not get on any drugs to help you stay clean and I respect that.

As far as what dose you should taper to.....its very simple.....the lower dose you have tapered to, the easier it will be to quit. Its simple math....if you are on 20mg's it will feel worse than if you are on 5 or 10mg's. So I would lower to atleast 10mg's, maybe even less. But make sure that when you taper down, you stay at that new dose for atleast a week before you jump off so your body can adjust to the new dose. This makes it so that you dont jump off while your body still has more opiates in it from the previous higher dose.

Also, I know you said you dont want to take suboxone, but I will say that after you quit completely, if you are having a hard time keeping your mind off of using oxy again, or are experiencing hardcore PAWS, I would atleast THINK about getting on some very low dose suboxone. I mean like 0.5mg's. Its enough to give you slight euphoria, but small enough so that you dont have to deal with another addiction.......thats exactly what I do and im living my life very happy. I dont have any urges whatsoever to use heroin again. Again, this is just advice jsut inc ase you are having a really hard time after you quit.

i really admire your ability to taper like this and quit on your own. That really takes guts and I respect that alot, as well as envy your self control. Good luck!

yeah if u have a schedual it will work out way better

im weaning right now, i dont have a schedual but i just wait til i start feeling a lil hot flashes or my anxiety rises....its working for me

but true if i had a schedual i prob wouldnt have any PAWS

like i said before if your down to 20 mg a day with oxy just stay at 20 mg a day untill u feel normal. then quit and dont touch that shit ever again and u will b sick for 5-7 days and then have 2-3 weeks of small mental shit just like feeling weird ect. but after the first 5-7 u will b fine and starting to get back to normall...

OXY OR HEROIN KICKING PLAN
so 5-7 days of DETOXING AND WITHDRAWLS
then 2-3 weeks max of PAWS

if you listened to the people pushing suboxone then you will have to go through...

BUPE KICKING PLAN
2-7days of detoxing depending on dose
2-4 months of PAWS

so you can see the diffrence its ur choice..
Good will power with saying fuck u to the suboxone because that shit is really bad and i wish i hadn't ever started it. It pretty much got me more stuck then I was before.. anyway good luck

suboxone doesnt have to be seen as such a bad choice necessarily SubutexMan. The withdrawals dont have to be as bad as alot of people say they are. I am living proof that if you taper in the correct fashion you can make it so that you have little if any withdrawals from suboxone. It all has to do with being on low doses....and then weaning down to even lower doses(around 0.25-0.5mg's/day) and then staying at those lower doses for about a month, and then dropping off. If done corrrectly, the withdrawals should be almost non-existent(if at all). I know this from personal experience.
True, it does take alot of time to correctly taper off of suboxone in a manner that "bypasses" the horrible, and long withdrawals, but in my opinion its worth it, and you should know that that is a necessary step in getting off of the suboxone before you get on it. So, if you know what you are getting yourself into before you even begin suboxone maintanence, you should be able to taper off in a way that prevents the withdrawals from occuring.

Then why are you not off suboxone now... and if you say because you dont want to, or can't that proves my point.. think about it.. same reason why People now found pot to be addictive .. its a mental thing and by getting on suboxone you make yourself more mentaly hooked on opiates.,.. if you just quit its better.. suboxone is just another Addiction in my opion and alot of others who think with there head. u would b off suboxone now and actully clean if u were trying to b sober which is what asuboxone is for ... not suboxone isn't ment to b long term... its not a mataince thing but has become one... it was ment to b for detox.. but since its soo addicting and people can switch from it to dope w./e they want this is why it is a problem. Suboxone is horrible.. and I know Im right im living proof .. and bro im on .5 mg a day now and I still get really bad withdrawls when trying to stop it,,, and theres alot of people on the site www.subsux.com that will tell u the same thing ..

u must not really understand addiction and or u just choose to live a lie and think subs are good.. if you could just kick you would have but u couldnt so you picked up subs... Since you were weak like I WAS, dont take it -out on someone else on the forum and tell them to get on subs so you can fuck them up like you choose to do to yourself with suboxone.. I dont mean to come off as rude but for real.. dont offer the stupid idea of subs to someone stronger then both of us just so he will get into the boat we are in.. missery loves company.. but I dont neeed any more company hes gonna get clean and b happy he didnt listen to ur ass
