Are goof balls a real drug?

HA.....i never knew "goof balls" was a slang term for barbituates(or speed as princess poppy mentioned).
My parents always called me a goof ball while I was a kid and they still use the term to this day. To think, this whole time they were calling me a drug. Maybe thats why I ended up a drug addict. Bastards!.....I should tell them this info so they can stop saying that annoying "phrase". Allthough my dad will probably just increase the amount of times he says "jiminey crickets!" to compensate.

goof balls was/is a combination of an amphetamine and a barbiturate

Many people today work with the spiritual descendent of the goof ball, legitimized by society in many contexts-

the ADD med and benzo cocktail

(I do.)

k, "goofball" was slang for the popular recreational barbiturates. Marion shoots them when they run out of heroin; Harry begs her just to swallow, but knows she won't. Nothing to do with speed. Though there was a popular combo pharm from the 50s that included some sort amphetamine to counter the drowsiness from the barb. Maybe people called those goofballs too.
