Is zolpidem(ambien) a good option to have for bad trips?

I definitely have some wacky experiences in the past taking ambien with psyches, ones i barely remember except the rough trip reports i've written after. i do remember using it to sleep after i'm already in the comedown phase of psyches, to pretty good extent.

My concern is, that i'm looking for a pill for a just in case, bad trip- first timer tripping, and can only find zolpidem (ambien) 10mg.

So has anyone ever used it during an anxious or outright bad trip? I'd assume that it would reduce anxiety, but ambien is weird and can cause confusion. This is very important because i'm going to trip sit for a girl i sort of know, its her first time, and i want to be able to calm her with medicine if absolutely necessary.

ambien kicks in twice as fast as benzos so thats a plus also... IF it doesn't add confusing weird effects in addition to the psychedelic 4-aco-dmt...

looking for replies with experience only; I can assume and guess myself. much appreciated

I guess it depends on how she reacts to ambien. A half pill makes my vision double -- it doesn't even feel like sleepiness, more like being too disoriented to do anything but sleep. I wouldn't take it for a bad trip; it would just make me delirious.

Does she have a favorite alcoholic drink? If things go tits up as the brits say, having a cool CNS depressant drink that she associates with good times would probably be a better option unless you get a hold of some benzos.

Yeah, personally I hate zolpidem tartrate.. Makes me feel very weird. Honestly, I think if I was having a bad trip and I took ambien, it could very likely make things even worse for me.

It does depend on how an individuals reaction is though. I know a few people who say ambien works very well to put them to sleep. (A very few though, most people i know who've taken it feel like i do about it)

Your best options to have on hand for bad trips are good 'ol benzos like alprazolam, clonazepam, or diazepam.

And while I agree with ^^ that guy about alcohol.. Sometimes during psychedelic experiences, depending on what substance and how much I've taken, I didn't even feel alcohol.. There were times when I was younger and didn't know better that I drank way too much because I couldn't feel it, and then was left with the worst hangover ever the next morning.. So while alcohol would probably be better than ambien, be careful with that.

benzos are what you need. without tolerance 20mg. diazepam, 2mg. lorazepam, or 1mg. of alprazolam or clonazepam will calm down a bad trip. note that the four benzos i listed are the best benzo choices for bad trips(esp. clonazepam- acts fast, long lasting with strong anxiolytic effects), you want benzos that act fast and have good anxiolytic properties.

zolpidem is trippy by itself and has weak anti-anxety effects unlike benzos. zolpidem affects the hypnotic and amnesiac parts of the GABA-a complex, but not the others like the anxiolytic part which is what you want.

Just popped 2mg Klonopin an 10 mg zolpidem in preparation of night.
I have done 25mg ambien before and I never even slightly hallucinated on it. Maybe a lil blurriness and sleepeeness but thats about it. Can some one describe Ambien halluccinations? and why da fuck am I missing out.sounds pretty decent

I've had some pretty intense OEVs from Ambien, but I know it doesn't happen for everyone. With zolp you need to really space it out. It seems tachyphylactic and the more interesting recreational effects only happen with no tolerance.

Really? You think clonazepam is fast-acting? Maybe sublingually but oral dosing, lorazepam or alprazolam (with a STRONG preference to the former due to the euphoria/dysphoria of alprazolam and the strong rush when it hits which makes panic worse) would be better as I find clonazepam to take at least an hour to hit.

I've take ambien and a similar drug called Lunesta for sleep before. I doubt they would be good for trip insurance. They do work for me to sleep once I'm coming down but still have that excess stimulation though. But they don't really have any anti-anxiety effects IME so they would not be that good for easing a person who is panicking during their trip.

I havent taken them while tripping but I have after doing way to much coke or speed and feeling incredibly paranoid and tweaky, and while it isnt as good as benzo's it definately helped to slow everything down and make me feel quite a bit better. But some ppl dont react well to it like I do and get alot of side effects, I dont think I'd want the horrible taste in my mouth alot of ppl get from it while I was having a bad trip. So it really depends on her whether it will be any good or not. Just like how pot helps mellow some ppl out while tripping, and others would have even worse anxiety and fear after smoking it, always depends on the person in question
