Mushrooms do work sublingually according to quite a few reports. And what do you mean mushrooms are a poison? Some strains of fungus contain highly toxic chemicals, but psilocybin mushrooms contain psilocybin, psilocin, baeocystin noraeocystin as well as other minor alkaloids which are all fairly non-toxic. You would need to consume something ridiculous like over a kilogram of average potency mushrooms to reach the LD50.
Some people prefer to use mushrooms sublingually, but I would simply make a tea as it hits me within 20 minutes, and it would probably take about the same time sublingually.
Many people way to many times in many circle consider the effects of magic mushrooms to be that of a poison acting on the system. The main trend being that they cause the spinal fluid or blood to somehow flood the brain with the `poison, blood or spinal fluid`
to me these theories seem to be a very ignorant interpretation of the pharmacology involved with the metabolization of substances. When I was 16 years old I assumed the `poison`theory was true because it simply makes logical sense until you increase your vocabulary and knowledge in chemistry and discover and avail your self to the use of websites like bluelight and erowid for hours even days worth of your life.
Many people stick with the answers that make sense, i for one dig all day for information, contesting polar ideas on a subject until I form a dynamic to the matter at hand, I accept some ideas as devoutly truer than other ideas but many dont have the drive to learn and choose to accept simple anecdote as final word on a subject.
I would not go on like this but I have encountered this type of silly-speak about LSD being strychnine and mushrooms being simply a `poison`(despite the overall easy consumability of the little fellas, some even enjoying the experience of chomping down 5 dried grams). And find myself challenging a room of folk who think IM crazy, wrong and have eaten this shit one...to...many...times...
