'Last week, a national survey conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration was released and concluded, “The use of illicit drugs among Americans increased between 2008 and 2009. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health shows the overall rate of current illicit drug use in the United States rose from 8.0 percent of the population aged 12 and older in 2008 to 8.7 percent in 2009. This rise in overall drug use was driven in large part by increases in marijuana use.”

So it begins.
The Director of National Drug Control Policy, R. Gil Kerlikowske, said, “The findings are disappointing, but not surprising. Youth attitudes about the dangers of drugs have softened in the past couple of years (emphasis added). In the past this has often signaled that increases in use are coming.” The drug czar got it right, and you can count on further increases of drug use.'

'Educating kids on the harmful effects of marijuana and other drugs is the most important element, followed closely by enforcement to eliminate their availability. When demand for illicit drugs disappears, so will drug traffickers and all the violence and chaos they create. But so long as Hollywierd liberals and the rest of California portray marijuana use as a form of “recreation,” instead of deviate, destructive behavior, then drug usage will continue to flourish.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.'

Gah! You've lied and called your fibs 'education.' You've lumped cannabis together with harder drugs, and have intentionally withheld the truth. No wonder the youth is fucking confused, you Special ex-DEA agent, you. Keep fighting a losing battle, and prove your true intelligence.

Demand for drugs--illicit or otherwise--will never abate, you will never win this war because you are fighting for control over personal freedom. Your goose-stepping ways are numbered! We The People will rise up one way or another. Be it voting out dicks like the ones who appointed you, or be it a new revolution altogether, it's only a matter of time. The people will tire of being imprisoned along with the violent... because of a plant.

What is chaos, but an unpredicted result of cause-and-effect? Can you not see that the violence surrounding illicit drugs was birthed by your own wife, Prohibition?

"Put that in your pipe and smoke it."

Is that an order?

I started out on pills at age 12 and then alcohol, then marijuana and I do not give a damn about "liberal" Californians opinions on marijuana or anything for that matter. No movie ,TV show or California liberal turned me on to wanting to smoke weed.I wanted to smoke it while under the influence of alcohol-the worst and most destructive drug there is.The Legal Drug that is taxed and sold and advertised on TV,media of all types...Alcohol leads to more people using drugs in my opinion if there is any gateway drug then it is booze, which you DEA people guzzle like water I am sure. And I actually am friends with a guy whose high school buddy works for the DEA in another state and 90% of the DEA agents there he said ,while the bosses were not in earshot, think that marijuana should be legal,if for no other Reason that the DEA could fight cocaine ,heroin, and crystal meth use, according to him...You are of a dying breed.MR.DEA Special Agent whatever, I say lock up drinkers and arrest liqour store owners and distillerys and legaize marijuana. And I am not from California or am I liberal or Conservative,I AM ME,,,and I Vote,as does many people with high paying jobs and even law enforcement people who smoke marijuana.SO Put THAT in YOUR PIPE and smoke it or choke it..

And your type will be out of work, even tho you are "retired"

Would you mind helping me out here.... if one can make demand for drugs "disappear", not drop, get on SOLVING murder, rape, and genetic defects for me too!

Good news people of America, all DRUGS are about to disappear... according to my calculations... at T - ∞ x ∞ !

What a bullshit article.

Blame Hollywood and the Liberals while you're at it.

*sighs deeply, walks outta thread*

ROFL =D

When the demand for "illicit" drugs disappears?! How many 1000's of years of desire and use do you think you can snuff out? lol WOW they really are delusional aren't they? The violence and chaos is caused by labeling plants as 'illicit' and their users as 'deviant'. Fuck off 8)

lol ooooobbbbbvvvviiiooouuussssslllyyy there is nothing 'recreational' about devil weed usage. People just sit around in rusted out abandoned apartment buildings shooting it into their veins with shared needles then go out to rape white women, remembering nothing of their debauchery when they regain consciousness the next day, sweating and in search of their next fix.

When young people see medical marijuana clinics blocks from their homes and progressive states like California have ballot measures to legalize its use, it sends a clear message that marijuana isn’t harmful. After all, it’s medicine!

This part is just dripping with failure and denial

What marijuana proponents don’t say is that it is the most frequently used “starter” drug for addicts.

HA! When in doubt, make shit up right? Of course, perhaps this man does not consider alcohol and tobacco 'drugs'.

The president’s 2010 National Drug Control Policy emphasizes that he is “restoring balance in our efforts to combat the drug problems that plague our communities. . . This new, balanced approach will expand efforts for the three critical ways that we can address the drug problem: prevention, treatment, and law enforcement.” Translation: law enforcement is now the lowest priority of his three-prong strategy, as it always seems to be with a Democratic administration.

Yeah, how dare we not cage these beasts and take a medical approach to this situation, as if drug users were *gasp* people or something. Throw em in with the rapists and murders! There is no hope for them!

So we should try to scare the children by demonizing marijuana and putting emphasis on 'deviate' and destructive behavior that this evil drug is responsible for? This method seems to have worked in the past, right?

Perhaps if we remove the criminal element associated with the marijuana trade the demand for foreign weed would be diminished? Just a thought.

Hmm. Pre 1914(US Harrison Act), addiction per capita was estimated to be a fraction of what it is today(with cruel/illogical laws/penalties in place for use). Is there another government agency with a more obvious and TOTAL public failure at it's objective than the DEA? Decades of utter failure and counter production! the only things the DEA has managed to do in all this time is...

1) Increase per capita addiction to narcotics.
2) Consume vast amounts of YOUR tax dollars.
3) Torture and destroy the lives of tens of millions of innocent citizens whose only 'crime' is non-violent drug 'crime'.

Congratulations, morons.
