William Burroughs Died For You

Somewhere we lost the fight
coughing Big Book mantras
into the dopesick dawn
we relapsed and were glad
eager for sleep, sweet dreams, and death
we searched Lake Michigan for the steely sunrise
that brings another day, another fix
another dreamy death wish
JUNKY. JUNKY.
lying thru your teeth
rushing thru your veins
consumed by need,
we need to consume
life in a needle and a spoon
JUNKY.
leave your old lovers
another romance lies ahead
JUNKY.
use once and destroy.

. I totally dig it!!! I'm hooked on the needle, more than the drug,so this really hit home.
Also a HUGE Borroughs fan. I have a lot of his stuff on mp3,readings of his work,by himself.I have the entire book "junky" on audio,"They call him the priest" and others.hearing him speak his own brillant words has only made my love, respect, awe ect..the overall impact of who he was and what he gave has only grown and I feel as if in his presence when I hear him read...idk
Anyway...loved the poem...Love ol' Bill;)

CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!! thanks for posting man :)

for me, this would be stronger without the 'JUNKY's'! it's a cute poem, however, i'd avoid 'use once and destroy' because it's overused and borderline cliché.
