DEA Hosts First Nationwide Prescription Drug 'Take Back' Day

Many bluelighters already support "Nationwide Prescription Drug Buy-Back at a Premium Year", I can't imagine it overtaking that in popularity.

This made my day.

Even as I do continue to support said event.

I saw a story about this on the local news they incinerate all of it after and make people iopen the med bottles and dump um, fuck the DEA bunch of wannabe cops.

Even if somehow this became popular, I get the feeling that it may evolve into a situation where people will have the option of being "moral" and tossing their stuff into the dea drop off, or they could sell it to the people who will know exactly where to congregate to buy cheap pills people were going to get rid of anyways. Next thing ya know the DEA's drop offs would all of a sudden see a rapid decline in success as people weigh whether they feel like just throwing their shit away, or making money giving it to people around the drop offs who will get drugs and use them for their own purposes regardless of whether or not you're the one that provides em.

The already have these all over in NY. I was at the pharmacy a couple months ago and there was a sheriff and a pharmacy worker sitting at a table with a bin full of returned presciption bottles. I had to just stand there and stare for a while.

I have heard different reasons for them doing this. One being to properly dispose of the drugs, so they dont end up in the water from ppl flushing them.

funny how they want to make sure the drugs that they said were OK to use are killing people and to prevent people from abusing them and making sure they have a steady supply of expired drugs (not expired, just less potent) they take them back. meanwhile everyone that uses illegal drugs safely and responsibly with little negative side effects (psychedelics, weed, non-moronic individuals) are demonized for it.

these people are some idiots.

Also, when I saw the giant word DRUGS on a bus the other day I laughed.

Great. I can't get enough from my doc to even treat my severe chronic pain, and these guys are collecting and incinerating the stuff! LOL.

Maybe I'll drive up there and out of the goodness of my heart offer to stop house to house to collect the meds to .. uhm... "drop off".... =D

So who else can see a paper being published 20-40 years down the line about how this was all an inside scheme to artificially inflate opiate prices to increase CIA heroin profits?

Why would anyone throw away any prescription drug, ever?

You can't get another one without going through an enormous hassle. Going to a doctor, waiting in line, explaining shit to a self-important fuckwad doctor who is 1/3 your level of intelligence, getting a permission slip, taking the permission slip to a pharmacist who is also a self-important fuckwad who is 1/3 your level of intelligence, waiting around for an hour while the prescription gets filled, etc etc.

And all that hassle could be for a damn antibiotic, it doesn't even have to be fun stuff for them to make it a hassle.

My advice: just put a little packet of desiccant in the bottle and it won't expire in your lifetime. That way, even many years from now, when you have a bunch of grandchildren running around the house, they too can find your stash of pills and munch some of them in a childish effort to get high-- like every normal non-wiener kid should be doing regularly anyways.

I saw somewhat of a scare tactic used by the police that were doing one of these "drop offs". They said that people are breaking into homes just to raid medicine cabinets. So they claim by dropping off your meds, that thieves would somehow think "oh, i guess all the houses don't have pills in them anymore, so forget trying to break in".

Theres a link. It wouldnt let me copy and paste any text, but it says that homes are being targeted by burglars looking for pills, so collecting them will help out....

Yea right.

how many of those places will be robbed? hey lets tell everyone where we are dropping of dangerous medicine in our cabinets. by danger i mean the fun ones lol, idk thats just my thoughts.

^ You would pretty much have to have a shoot-out with the police to get them. The place I was at had 1 on each side of a bin. Plus a lot of them are in pharmacies or at police precincts which all have cameras.

I worry that this is an opening salvo in a war against practitioners and patient with a medical need for medication that the government thinks is excessive. A smokescreen capitalizing on high profile figures' deaths and drug problems related to the use of prescription drugs. And a way to employ more people by the federal government in an attempt to spend their way out of this repression, I mean recession.:(:(:(

War against drugs: Prescription theater.

I suppose it is better they are incinerated rather than end up in the drinking water. I wonder why they are doing this though, to maintain a positive public image?

peace.

No need to mug anyone, just start your own precription drop-off point and wait for them to come to you.

Ahahaha thats fuckin hilarious! Made me laugh pretty hard =D

Ima be standing at the front door with my own pill bin. Save them the hassle of walking all the way inside :)

The DEA is just doing this to gain good publicity; they could just as easly put out an ad showing some kid dying in his bedroom and then have a message saying you should throw away all your old perscription medication.

hahaha

I saw a MASSIVE BUS (this was in Portland, Oregon) at a major supermarket parking lot. There were also 2 military humvees, military personnel with automatic weapons, and of course the DEA and the regular everyday goon squad. They had a little tent outside the bus where people were lining up to turn in their expired pills.

This was at a supermarket close to a "known drug area" with a lot of homeless and squatters.

The only other time I have ever seen that many LE was on May Day in anticipation of protests.

I agree about keeping expired drugs. If you have kids or pets, make sure you know they're put away and unreachable, and use a desiccant. 5 years from now when you need to have a dental procedure or fuck up your knee you'll be glad you did.
