Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ & Megathread v2; 2010

Not open for further replies.
never underestimate how strongly bupe binds to the receptors. also, when you first start taking it it sticks a lot longer. i remember in the first couple months of being on it i would have to wait 3-5 days to feel anything from IV H. now, though i dont use, it would take 36hrs.

A question to those on Bupe.
I go every day and get my dose at around 1200, i have 12mg/day now but it will be raised to 16mg soon.

My problem is that the effects of Bupe doesn't hold me up all day, the effects dimish at around 1600-1800.
Will higher doses make the effects last longer?

Cause i gotta go to the clinic every day for 6 months before i get "take-home-doses" and at that point i could spread the doses throughout the day.

Suboxone Film Savings card

You can now print your savings card for the new Suboxone Film Strips.

http://forheretohelpprogramsavings.com/Default.aspx?cid=hthpf

The strips are priced the same as the tabs. The card will save you $75.00 off each prescription until March 2011. It can also be used with Insurance and other discount cards. So the discount will apply to your Co-Pay Other than medicaid/medicare and tricare.

Here is a great discount Rx card for the cash payers I use it and it saves me $45.00 off the strips right off the bat and can be used along with the $75.00 card from Reckitt. So they end up very much cheaper than the tabs for at least the first 6 months. Some pharmacies already have the strips in stock but they will be available completely by October 1st.

That is sooo FUCKED #1 I t hought the point of subs are so u can take that shit home and have a script for a month from the get go. If you haven't already I suggest you loook at the suboxone doctor locator on the Suboxne web site and get a new doctor... And Suboxone will never "hold " you the way I think your looking for it to. Pretty much If you dont take the advice to go to a new suboxone doctor and figure out the low dose suboxone gets you to hold better and you dose multible times a day at like .5 mg a dose so a mg a day. Anyway unless you do this (IV Suboxone .5 mg Dose 2 time daily) and can find a new doctor to give u that full month script. I would either man Up like I should have or GO to the methadone clinic. which it sounds like you go to anyway but u choose to get subs for some reason. I dont say this to b a dick Im just being honest with you. Methadone sucks ass tho So I hope you just man up... But if you need to me "held" then go on THE methadone ....

WOW WTF Why the fuck are they ever thinking to give anyone under 18 Suboxone. I know addiction is not an age thing. But if you live under your parents roof or you are homeless and 16 your too damn young to cop out and go on subs... THis is just my opion. ITs foolish they would think this could better the kids life. I see it only getting them closer to people who do drugs etc...

suboxone strips?

So my friend said his doctor gave him suboxone strips when he got his refill this week. I saw talk of a suboxone patch but not of these suboxone strips. Anyone else get these? It sucks cause I usually snort or shoot my subs so I'm wondering if it is maybe somehow possible to shoot these(I doubt it but one can hope). Anyways I'm gonna get some later today so I will report back later, I really hope they aren't making all subs like this

New Suboxone formulation expected to be available in October
Sublingual film technology is seen as a boost for compliance
by Gary A. Enos, Editor

Within a month, prescribers of the opioid dependence medication Suboxone will have the option of prescribing a second formulation of the drug that could improve patient compliance. Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced Aug. 31 it had received federal approval to market a sublingual film that patients in clinical trials preferred to Suboxone sublingual tablets.

The new formulation of the medication that combines buprenorphine and naloxone was developed under an exclusive agreement between Reckitt Benckiser and MonoSol Rx, a company whose PharmFilm technology was first authorized for prescription use with the July approval of the anti-nausea medication Zuplenz (ondansetron) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

“During clinical studies, Suboxone sublingual film was shown to be faster dissolving than Suboxone sublingual tablets,” Reckitt Benckiser president Shaun Thaxter said in a statement announcing the film’s approval. “Because of the faster dissolution and the taste profile, patients preferred the film.”

Both formulations taken under the tongue now will be available for maintenance treatment of opioid dependence. The manufacturer emphasizes that Suboxone should be used as one element of a comprehensive addiction treatment program that includes counseling and psychosocial support.

Officials with MonoSol Rx state that the two drug approvals they have received over the past couple of months confirm federal regulators’ acceptance of their technology as a viable drug delivery option. They have developed PharmFilm in an effort to improve the convenience and compliance associated with new and existing medications.

The sublingual film will be packaged in individual doses using child-resistant pouches. Warnings associated with the medication include that it should always be kept out of the reach of children, who can suffer severe respiratory depression if they take the medication.

Very interesting. I didn't know this even existed until I googled around for an answer to your question. It sounds like they would be similar to Listerine breath strips, or the cannabis breath strips they sell in Cali. And I'd assume if they dissolve in your mouth, they would dissolve in a spoon....but personally I'd be hesitant to shoot it until there is more information about the formulation.

If you get these let us know about them. I'm on suboxone and while I'm not too interested in paying more money for a new suboxone formulation, I'd definitely like to know about taste/packaging etc.

Most assuredly they cannot be snorted but they may be able to be injected. Here is the inactive ingredients that make up the strips:

Inactive Ingredients: polyethylene oxide, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, maltitol, acesulfame potassium, lime flavor, citric acid, sodium citrate, FD&C yellow #6, and white ink.

I am sure someone with some knowledge about these chemicals will chime in and let you know if it is safe to inject.

Actually......ALOT of countries dont have the same policies as the U.S when it comes to suboxone prescription. In fact I think Canada is more strict in that they dont allow take home scripts until several months into the prgram. That poster probably lives in Canada, or soem other country where the laws are different.

Someone told me that the strips are gonna completly replace the orange pills is this true? That would really suck I like snorting mine especially after a run with heroin nothing gets rid of the sick like a couple mgs of sub up each nostrel.

yea they can be injected......but if your going to inject suboxone you should just stay on the pills. They are still going to be availabvle. Even the FDA information on the internet about the new strip form of suboxone says....

"Switching between SUBOXONE (buprenorphine and naloxone) Sublingual Tablets and SUBOXONE Sublingual Film
Patients being switched between SUBOXONE (buprenorphine and naloxone) sublingual tablets and SUBOXONE sublingual film should be started on the same dosage as the previously administered product. However, dosage adjustments may be necessary when switching between products. Because of the potentially greater relative bioavailability of SUBOXONE sublingual film compared to SUBOXONE (buprenorphine and naloxone) sublingual tablets, patients switching from SUBOXONE (buprenorphine and naloxone) sublingual tablets to SUBOXONE sublingual film should be monitored for over-medication. Those switching from SUBOXONE sublingual film to SUBOXONE (buprenorphine and naloxone) sublingual tablets should be monitored for withdrawal or other indications of under-dosing. In clinical studies, pharmacokinetics of SUBOXONE sublingual film was similar to the respective dosage strengths of SUBOXONE (buprenorphine and naloxone) sublingual tablets, although not all doses and dose combinations met bioequivalence criteria."

^^^I doubt they would have put directions on how to properly switch from sublingual film to tablets if the tablets werent going to be available anymore. Also my doc told me they were still going to be sold.

The clinic has me coming in weekly for my oxy.

They say safety 1st - and they wanna make sure i wwake up every day.

I explained to them i will not EVER EVER take more than my rx daily and the reason i did was cuz i was outgoingly activr and moving around a lot ... etc...
These past 4 weeks have been bi-weekly*

Hopefully my doc will someday agree to take me on again and we begin a monthly thing ..

No, the strips AND the tablets will be available. It just depends on which your doctor prescribes you. Im lucky, my doctor allready asked me which I would rather be taking and I told him the pills. He said OK.

The thing is most sub docs arent gonna give the patients a choice between them we already see this with subutex and suboxone. Also how will people like me who take small chunk of the pill at a time be affected.

My doctor told me that the tablets will be phased out but James' doc told him they wont be. Right now it is only rumor about no more tablets in the near future. However, I thought the exact same thing you just posted. 99% of doctors may not give the patient a choice at all and only Rx the strips because they are as of now being marketed and perceived as not being abuseable like the tablets.

This happened with -one and -tex and most doctors will not prescribe -tex due to this false perception so there is really no reason to think that it will be any different with the strips and the tabs. My money is on most just flat out denying Rxing the tabs any more.

"Also how will people like me who take small chunk of the pill at a time be affected."

The strips can be cut into any size. You could really cut a very, very tiny piece off of it.
