Do needles always come individualy wrapped? Someone i know got his needle from an old man who had diabetes, and the old man gets needles in bulk to inject insulin. When you get these needles in bulk, do they come wrapped individually? or all packaged together?
 
They usually come packaged in tens, so if it's not individually sealed it doesn't necessarily mean it's been used. Some do come individually wrapped, but it's much less common than being in packs of ten.
 
Depends on brand. Terumo do. BD come in 10 packs or 100 boxes no individually warrping.
 
look at the cap on the tip it will have a melt mark on it that will line with a melt mark on the pin if thay dont line up that tells me the cap has been takin off your works. I wouldnt use it then

^^^that is a good way to tell if its been used. Also....ive noticed that every single one of the thousands and thousands of needles ive used didnt have the plunger pushed ALLL the way down when it was new. It ALWAYS has a tiny 2-4mm space between the plunger and the tip where the needle starts. Normally if somone has used a needle, they just stick the plunger back in, all the way down when there done....I doubt anyone tries to only push it 98% of the way down and then stop.
 
most new syringes I purchase (from pharmacies) come in ten packs, although singles are available at some stores. The easiest way to identify the needle has not been used is the tiny bit of air in a new needle. The plunger will NOT be all the way down. This is just something I have noticed and if I was given a needle, the few units of air along with the feeling of pulling the plunger back and forth is enough to let me know it is clean. I have never heard of anybody using a needle and trying to make the plunger look as it is with the tiny pocket of air. Can somebody else back me up or elaborate on what exactly to look for. It is hard for me to describe without seeing a fresh one and I dont have one to look at.
 
I have gotten several boxes of insulin syringes from the exchange, where they would be loosely packed in a box, wrapped in plastic. Each box contained 200.

For the most part though, insulin syringes come in boxes of 100, with each box containing ten packs with ten needles in each pack.

Some brands have individually wrapped needles, but this is less common.
