How much black pepper with codeine?

So we all know that black pepper contains piperdine that helps turn codeine to morphine. But how much black pepper you have to eat, and how long before you take codeine? Does the already crushed black pepper work that they sell in shops or should I use only uncrushed? And if uncrushed can I just swallow them without chewing them, does youre gi break them up for you?

it sure spiked my curiosity, and normally I don't read things having to do with codeine. so I think you suceeded. sorry I couldn't be of help. I thought maybe that link would've had something

It's Piperine not Piperidine.

I take it you want your liver enzyme (CYP3A4) inhibited so that the Codeine you ingest won't be broken down into Norcodeine (CYP3A4), but instead converted to Morphine (CYP2D6).

If you have whole black pepper, try swallowing about 10-15 or the little seedlings.

Or you can try drinking a cup or two of grapefruit juice (preferably white) as it apparently also inhibits CYP3A4.

Or you can try the supplement Quercetin. It's what I've had the best results with.

Hmm ok, I think I get some Quercetin. How much I need to eat it and how long before taking codeine? Also in your opinion how much it will boost codeine? Also I've heard that OJ helps with codeine absorption because it's acidic, so maybe I make crazy boost cocktail, black pepper, OJ and Quercetin.

I don't really think GFJ does anything with opiates. I've never seen anything about it wrote in any of the booklets that come with any of my scripts. Ive only read about it on my benzo scripts, xanax and valium.

I've also tried it with my morphine with no noticeable effects other than the bitter ass taste of GFJ in my mouth.

Grapefruit juice doesn't "work" with Morphine because Morphine is broken down by the liver via conjugation which is a completely different process than enzyme modification (which is what the liver uses to break down Codeine).

A few days ago I ate a rather large grapefruit and proceeded to ingest my daily Methadone and Xanax and I felt much more sedated than usual. It could have been a placebo effect but the fact that I felt sleepy all day makes me think the grapefruit interacted with both of these medications.

I shoot my morphine, doesn't that bypass the liver? also, I've tried it with other opiates aswell.

and you could've felt more sedated than usual because you had xanax in there, and xanax is one of the drugs that is for sure aided by GFJ.

Yes shooting Morphine will bypass first pass metabolism (in Morphine's case it's conjugation) resulting in a much higher bio-availability. The liver will still remove it from your blood by way of conjugating it with UDP-glucuronosyl transferase-2B7.

I've been taking the same dosage of Xanax 3x a day for close to 5 years now (along with the Methadone 1x daily which I've been taking for 9 months now) and I stopped getting any sedation (I still can feel some anxiolysis and muscle relaxtion) from this combo back in March or April of this year so I was surprised when I began feeling sedated.

it does work with codeine

but anything that "potentiates" opiates isnt ttooo worth it

more placebo imo

I feel like I should point out to people that I have never had a script to codeine, so it very well could say something about GFJ in the booklet that comes with the script. Nor do I have much experience with codeine at all really. sadly, I started my opiates with oxycontin, so I nenver had the chance to have fun with weaker opiates. the stuff def works with benzo, but like you said, I think its placebo with opiates.

i have been rx'ed em...and SOMETIMES it will have the sticky saying "do not drink grapefruit juice while on this medication"...

it might have said that with valium too

it def says that with valium and xanax. I've got a script to valium now and can confirm it, and I've had scripts to xanax before and it said it.

I haven't had any luck with codeine and CYP3A4 inhibitors (such as grapefruit). The theory is that by inhibiting CYP3A4, less of the codeine ingested will be broken down (by way of enzyme modification) to norcodeine (which is inactive), therefore, more of the codeine will be broken down (by way of enzyme modification, in this case CYP2D6) into morphine. It won't hit you any faster though, just harder, because more morphine is being synthesized in vivo.

I have had luck with methadone and CYP3A4 inhibitors though.
