I take Adderall xr 30 mg around twice a month for recreation and school purposes. I always notice after the first 4 hours i crash and then a little while later i come up again. But the last four hours fluxuates in effects and it isnt really smooth. Also i get real serious and feel like a robot. In this time, I also compulsively calculate how much more time i have with the adderall.

Is there any way to make the second half alot more smooth without taking other drugs? Also,.When the pill starts releasing the rest of the medication, does it release the other 15 mg right away? or slowly? how many mg an hour does it release?
 
There really is no effective way of stopping those "comedown effects" that you were describing in your OP. The only way to by-pass those symptoms is to keep taking more of the drug, or to take benzos or opiates to prevent you from feeling negative side effects from the amphetamine "crash".....but you said you didn't want to take any more drugs.


Also, im pretty sure that the XR formulations of adderall release the medication equally over the entire time period. You dont get some of the medication released all at once at one point in time, and then the rest at another point in time. It should be a much smoother, constant process.
 
It might be because i didnt gradually up my dosage. I just take it occasionally. That might be why i get such up and down effects from the 30 mg.
 
Certain adderall XR formulations produce 2 peaks where very few ER/SR/XR of any type do that. Furthermore, two consecutive doses of amphetamines will have somewhat different effects, in your case negative ones.
 
i have the same problem, i know it SUCKS. you feel the first one for a while, then you get a comedown strung out feeling and the second half only seems to make it worse. i HATE adderall xr, but i'm stuck with it for now.

for those who have tried, is vyvanse any better than adderall xr(for legitamite use for treating ADHD, i'm not looking to get high off it but i need a more consistant, "smooth" drug to replace shitty adderall xr).
 
In response to your question, StaySedated, I take a daily dose of Vyvanse and it is unbelievably SMOOTH and long lasting. I can't believe I can feel this good every day. It is the most beneficial medication I've ever taken. So much better than Adderall once you've had a few days to adjust.
