DXM Containing Products Being Taken Off Shelves

I tried posting this in other drugs but apparently no one cares. So ill try it here. Cough syrups containing DXM might be taken off shelves and put behind the counter. Or possible be only available as a prescription. It was on the national news yesterday and on my local news tonight. Now i cant see it being a prescription only because who seriously would go to the doctor everytime they have a cold? I know i wouldnt. I can see it having to be behind the counter and having to sign for it like they did wit those pills people use to make meth. Anybody else have any info on this? Thoughts?

on Sunday during the CBS national news they were talking about how this might happen. anyone lucky like me and catch it? they interviewed a kid who had abused DXM for several years and let's just say you could tell....


this is ridiculous though! Making them Rx only? I can understand checking ID's for 18+ purchase only... but not Rx ONLY
 
i've done it enough, at this point i don't care that much. i would be kinda distraught if they made it prescription only.
its fine with me if they just put it behind shelves, i can still buy it if i really wanted too.

it was on the news because it's a BIG DEAL for them to make all DXM containing products Rx only...

I don't abuse DXM. never enjoyed it. HOWEVERRRRRRRRR I will sometimes swallow a mouthful or two of Nyquil to help with sleep, but I won't be able to have even that just laying around the house anymore. gay.

yeah it's lame. i'm pretty sure you can easily order pure dxm online though. i'm gonna check at the pharmacy i work at and see if i can order pure dxm tabs/powder at a good price since we get it at the cheap price
 
I think it's a bummer that kids do stupid shit with DXM because it really does have potential to be a wonderful experience. Pharmacies have already stopped selling Zicam here, when they figure out that that doesn't help then I'm sure they'll stop selling more DXM containing shit. At least I'll be 21 by the time any legislation would even be voted on. I'll be able to buy much more deadly drugs in stores so I wont have a need for DXM. Even though I'd probably still do it once I'm 21. I'm studying chemistry too so dxm extractions probably wouldn't be hard to accomplish. I guess my point is who really cares? If they move it behind the counter people over 18 can still buy it. Also I don't get why people hate on DXM. I don't like opiates but I don't shit on people who do. Opiates are shitty, dirty, fiendish drugs and only people who can't cope with reality/ losers take them. I hope I've offended as many people as possible.
 
at this point the big cough syrup companies would probably rather have their products behind counters, so people would have to ask for it too buy it. but having it rx only would probably ruin their business.

zicam has either been put behind the counter or not being sold for a long while now,
not just because its a smaller amount for kids to drink and that its more concentrated,
mostly cause its so damn easy to steal.
no ones gonna spend 12+ dollars on a 0.55 oz bottle anyway.

did I touch a nerve there when I said DXM was gross? you being young, and others saying that DXM is for youngin's only further proves our point. so possibly you should've kept your mouth shut.

and no, DXM doesn't have the potential to be a good drug. it has the potential to be a disgusting feeling psuedo-trip.
 
I feel like there is some new crusade against abusing medication. First reforumulation of suboxone and oxycontin and now taking dxm off the shelves. Luckily that doesn't bother me really.
