Codeine only lasts 30 minutes?

Alright, a while ago I started using Codeine, but never really got the right dosage (I never seemed to get high off of it). About 2 weeks ago I decided to go for 412mg, and proceeded to do a CWE. I drank the codeine, and within 20 minutes I started to feel small rushes of euphoria, but this only lasted around 30 minutes. After that I still felt high but there was no euphoria. Even when there was euphoria, it wasn't really strong. It was there, but I had to concentrate on it. It kinda felt like it was forced and not "natural" like most opiates make you feel.

Am I doing something wrong, or am I just not taking enough? Should I maybe up my dose by 50-100mg and see how that goes? I want the euphoria to be strong and feel "natural", but I also want the high to last a few hours.
 
wow thats a HUGE dose i used to take codeine for a while i started off with 90mg i think?(give or take 30 mg) and i got a fairly decent buzz from it lasted about 2 hours but i wasent were i wanted to be like you said i really had to consontrate on the high to get a decent buzz if i hoped up n walked around i would bearly feel it the only thing i would feel would be a upset stomoch... the most ive ever had was i think 150mg and that did basicly the same thing... although i dident have a big tollorince to downers i had only had oxy one time and that was 15mg n put me on my hole for a while and had only been takin valium for about a week or 2.rember u will never get the same feeling of codeine that u will off smack or oxy....so be safe man i think what your having is a risky dose...maybe lay off the codeine for a few weeks n then give it a try again n see if that works your tollorince may be through the roof???how offen u take codeine?alos do u use smack or are you on methadone/suboxone ect???u may wana take some laxatives you wont shit for a week with that dose...also how are you doing ur CWE u may be doing it wrong a wasteing a heap of coeine maybe thats why ur not feeling much

If you're already used to other (stronger) opiates, codeine will have little effect I'm afraid, although its VERY useful for tapering off stronger opies.

If you are not used to other opies, either you are doing something wrong with the CWE process, or are one of those unlucky individuals whose body cannot convert codeine properly.

400mg is a hefty dose of codeine btw...its about the maximum amount that works anyway due to codeine's 'ceiling effect'....any amount over 600mg is wasted & will probably make you feel nausea.

I'm 99% sure im one of those people who dont metabolize codeine properly. The first time I ever did Codeine I took 250mg and felt NOTHING. I then tried 300mg, felt nothing. 400mg was the first and only time I ever felt anything.

I also have ZERO opiate tolerance, I don't use any other opiates, ever.

Looks like codeine isn't the opiate for you then...250mg would have banged you out as a first-time user, even without potentiating it.

Its something to do with the enzyme in the liver (CYP26 or something) that converts codeine into morphine....a small percentage of people don't have it.

;)But all is not lost...codeine is unique in that its the only opiate that needs converting in that way...all other opiates will work for you perfectly well!
 
why keep adding more when its not working and you urself are sure that you wont get high on it. it seems like a waste
 
clearly i read your post, and i dont think youre getting high. you shouldnt really need to focus on your high to notice it, it almost sounds more like wishful thinking that you got high.

try 600mgs and if you dont get itchy as shit, codeine wont work with you. the mental high from opiates is mellow and chill, i find it hard to notice if im keeping busy

Yep, people do seem to think they're going to have an oxy/H type of hit from codeine....even if they're not enzyme deficient as it sounds like the OP is.

I used codeine for years (usually with other things such as alcohol/benzo's etc) & its very pleasant, but really its *kids stuff* compared to other opies.

:\I found that out when I discovered pods lol
